^^^ It sounds good now. But just you wait. Putting Intamin and Six Flags together.... Need I say more.

Its not just Six Flags. See TTDs operational status for the last month. Matt

PS. Kingda Ka is running great :)

I didn't feel right starting a topic specifically for this, but I was at GAdv on Monday and took some pics of the track in the staging area. You can see them here. I tried submitting it as a news item, but I guess I must have done it wrong.

Edit: I think the pics clearly capture the whole concept of the "pre-fab" track for those who aren't sure how it works. Also, the ends of the track pieces look a little "lego-ish" to me. Either way, I'll be riding it in '06! :)

Wow, that's interesting. There seems to be a lot of steel used. They really are lego-like. I totally get the plug'n'play thing now.

Quick question has anyone seen a logo for the ride
^ havn't seen a logo. As far as reliability, i hear there is going to be a cable lift & if there are going to be breakdown issues, that is where they will be.
Yeah when I first saw the video I thought to myself, wow that lift hill is sure steep.

i'm not sure what to put here..

If you look at this picture, it does in fact look like a cable lift hill.

This is a great looking coaster. Not a record breaker, but that's okay - doesn't mean it's not going to be fun. It sounds as if the park has plenty of room to expand.

For whoever asked here's the logo:

^ Obviously I'm joking I made that myself. I can dream can't I? ;)

Does normal wooden coaster track use the "lego connectors" made on-site, or do they use another method to connect the track?

Normal wooden coasters use a very old and time tested method...

It's all by hand. ;)

There are no "track pieces" per-se on a wooden coaster.. in simplistic terms, they just hammer down pieces of wood onto the structure, overlapping them for added strength, and then add the running rails.

This is why this type of wooden track by Intamin is known as "pre-fab" - it's fabricated elsewhere, then shipped to the site where it's put onto the structure.

Edit: spelling because my hands weren't on the home keys and I'm falling asleep. :)

Is it just me, or is the progress of this coaster seeming to take awfully long? The newest update I've found is here. I thought the pre-fab Intamin woodies went up really quickly?

I know, I fear it won't be ready for opening day :(

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

It's an Intamin at a SFGAdv none the less. I wouldn't bet the bank it will open on time, but here's hoping it does and is a huge success. :)

Am I the only person that thinks this coaster has the ugliest lift/first-drop ever?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Why?

The lift may look odd simply because it's the first wooden coaster to utalize a cable lift and they had to do certain features to the lift and the track before and after it to properly utilize the technology. As for the progress of the ride, you need to realize that they need to assemble a LOT of wood to create those supports for the curve up to the first drop, and I;m sure that is very time consuming. I'd guess that once the drop itself is started, we'll see progress really start to pick up. However, I agree that it's going to be close. Maybe they're not planning on opening it opening day, but instead are planning a Memorial Day opening (when the parks goes to daily operations). Just a guess...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I think that the lift is not ugly, just bare. This is probably because of the lack of the rest of the track.

Yes! I fail to see how it differs from other coasters with the same lift, turn, drop sequence. Are you gonna hate it because the wood is browner than other wooden coasters too?
