Coasterbuzz: Where it's okay to scream like a girl

If a theme park is interested in building a new ride, they usually take the ride concept and bid it out to a number of companies. Whatever company comes forth with the abilty to turn the ride from concept into reality and at a reasonable price is usually the company that gets the job. Its not like Disney said "We want an Intamin coaster because we don't have any." Chances are, they want an indoor coaster (if that is indeed what the new SK ride is), and they'll bid the project out to companies that have proven themselves to be able to provide that type of ride system.
Besides, what is so wrong with Vekoma? I don't hear too many bad things about Rock N Roller Coaster! Does anyone really think that Disney will build a hyper coaster with SROS-style ejector airtime?

If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.
I wouldn't be surprised if any new Disney coaster was Vekoma. I just hope it lives up to Rock'N'RollerCoaster standards.

Back to the topic of AK and Disney, (SF)GA has a good point. Vekoma and the Mouse have had a pretty successful relationship, and while Disney is WAY more *tight-lipped* about such issues, I think Mickey is pretty happy. Does that it'll necessarily be a Vekoma - not by a long shot. But I know MY business is more likely to go to someone who I've done business with before...assuming I was satisfied...;)
bill, NOT easy to please, LOL

First, SM in Paris is extremely rough.
Really? I didn't think so. It wasn't B&M smooth, but I thought it was a fun ride, not too headbangy. The loop on Indiana Jones (which was running backwards when I rode it), now that was jarring. Not rough so much, but fairly intense. Fun, too, even with jet lag!

I really DO believe there are such things as *multi-coaster deals*, but only n a limited fashion. For instance, since SF wanted *several* GIB's at once, I'd be very unwilling to believe that SFI paid 4 times the price of one of them for the whole set. The likelihood of having a deal *over time*, I agree that that is VERY unlikely indeed.
I think it's actually a little more expansive than even that. I think, despite what the so-called "People Who Know" say, that there *are* multi-coaster contracts....well sort of. I think that they have *options* built in where if they are satified with a product, they can purchace more at a reduced cost. But I agree, that unless the products were purchased simultaneously (GIBs, Bat-Flight) it is very doubtfull that a company would *lock* themselves into a coaster without knowing that it worked well.

Mole, it's easy to see that you made that up because Disney has built more than three coaster with Vekoma:1992-Casey Jr.

1995-Space Mountain

2005-Space Mountain
Lets dance.
Casey Jr was a re-hab
Big Thunder was a Vekoma
Go-Coaster & Barnstormer, I don' know
Both Rock'n'Rollercoasters were part of this contract.
So was the first Space Mountain.
Space Mountain at HDL is RUMORED to have a Vekoma, but Intamin, Arrow, and the old WDW track is also been talked about.
I can say that Disney had a contract to build 3 coasters with Vekoma after Space. After the delays in RnR at MGM and the progressing roughness of the one at DLP, I doubt that Vekoma will do this coaster.
