Eisner Annouces New Animal Kingdom Coaster

jkpark, don't expect to see that for a while. Disney emphasizes on thrilling families. In my opinion, Disney has never been a place to find big thrills, but more of a resort to relax and enjoy family time. Unless they open a thrill park down there, don't place any bets for a huge coaster. Have a nice day- :).

I think that is exactly what WDW needs. a fifth park out here, specifically for thrills and speed. they could still come up with a new theme, and make it a great themed park as well as a great thrill park.

I am working on a school project with the chief ride engineer at Disneyworld. For confidentiallity, I won't say his name, but he designed the restraints for primeval whirl.

back to the topic at hand. Even though I feel that Disney should do this, it won't happen. They care too much about the overall family image. They turned down a Vekoma flying dutchman for primeval whirl, so..

FOR THE FINAL TIME!! THEY DIDN'T TURN DOWN A FLYING DUTCHMAN!! The movie tie in bombed (Reign of Fire) and Primevil Whirl was already in development.

Plus, for you non-believers of Forbidden Mountain...

It's from intercot.com they just posted it and they are having server problems from all of the people going online and checking it out. But man, look at those helixes!

The fifth thrill park talk isn't new. Villains has been mentioned time and time again for years in the dot-com urban legend rumor mills.

Where does the myth end and reality begin? Who knows. But having a park themed to Disney's villains could pack edgy top-notch thrills while still keeping it true to Disney's master plan.

If you look at Disney's Florida expansion they've been opening a new park every 10 years or so. They don't have 40+ square miles of real estate for nothing. Logic would dictate a new park in 5 years, but Disney's really hurting right now. How much of it is the economy? How much of it is Disney just passing consumer fancy? That remains to be seen.

Villains would accomplish a lot. For starters, it would keep those who head out to Busch Gardens, Islands of Adventure and even Sea World to get their Central Florida coaster kicks on-site. Disney has a huge value hotel that it can't even open because it can't fill up its current slate or hotel properties. It needs to broaden its offerings.

Plus, you have Six Flags that's lacking a park in one of the country's largest and most densely-traveled states. Sure, you think they'll just buy Wild Adventures and assume that it will be close enough to the Florida border? Fat chance. Once Six Flags gets over their own financial grind they will find a way to enter Florida.

If Disney builds Villains it will stunt Six Flags from entering the Orlando market -- forcing them either a few hours North (Jacksonville) or South (Miami).

Disney would have the perfect place to put up a worthy challenge to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. It would become the catch-all park for attractions planned for the other parks but deemed too wild or out of place in another park.

Will this ever happen? Who knows. I'm just looking forward to something new at Disney World.

How much is them not spending money to make money, and cutting corners? If Disney opened a high-dollar park like Disney Sea instead of DCA and built one at WDW with the same budget, I sure wonder if attendence would be different. The attendence figures for DisneySea are astounding. Compare that to DCA. :( I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I wish the Oriental Land Development Co. would buy the American Disney theme park division. Next time I want to take a Disney trip I'm seriously flying right over LA and going straight back to Tokyo, seriously! :)

I hope this new coaster will be a large E-Ticket attraction like Journey to the Center of the Earth, and not like some other "scaled back" rides they are building (The butchered version of TOT with most show elements removed in California.)

Whatever that's supposed to be, it's straight-up bs. The picture is too small to even tell what anything is.

Anyone hearing anything on manufacturing or specs. To me it looks like a junior hyper inside a moutain.

No official word yet. I suspect S&S Arrow, but Vekoma & Intamin are possablities. BTW, you can click on the photos to make the model one bigger...

I think Intmin is the serious way to go. They IMHO are better than B&M, well there hypers are anyway, and there isnt an intamin within hundreds of miles. I may be wrong on that but I cant think of one major Intamin attraction in the south.....let alone Orlando
The Mole's avatar
The only one that comes to my mind is in VA, Volcano. But I think there are no MODERN Intamins in FL.

Intamin? Its whould not have hyper trains: 3 trains is not enough for Disney and with those seatbelts... 4 or 5 trains whould have too much stacking.
Have they started any construction on this yet? Or wll it open in the long distance future?

I never said hyper trains. I said it seems like a junior hyper in a mountain. I meant it has/will have no loops. Besides who says it cant have more than 3 trains. TTD has 6.
Call me crazy, call me stupid but Mole's first pic shows a support structure that looks a lot more like a wooden coaster (yes I realize it might just be for the model) and just look at those helixs just scream GCI. Why couldnt this coaster be wood?

I don't care what anyone says, Magnum is better then Millenium Force.
