Eisner Annouces New Animal Kingdom Coaster

Yesterday at the Stock Holders Meeting, Michael Eisner, the Walt Disney Company CEO (incase you have been in a hole for 20 years) has announced a new coaster for Animal Kingdom. Nothing else is known except it's comming. As Bob Inger said about when the ride would open, "I think you made a lot of people on the internet happy."

Where did you see that? I have checked various news sites (as well as Disney's shareholder site) and have found nothing that backs up what you stated. I am not saying it wasn't said, I just cannot find any corroboration...

I submitted the story to the news here, but go to wdwmagic.com and scroll down. There is even an audio link.

I like Eisner's response to the guy asking the question when the questioner said "You just made a couple hundred people on the internet happier then they have been in their entire lives."

EISNER: "(laugh) Don't tell them...Don't tell them because we haven't announced it yet."

Now the question is, is it Matterhorn West or a BM flyer. I know what it likely is (Matterhorn) but I can still hope :)

You meant Matterhorn EAST right? WDW is on the EAST coast and Disneyland is on the WEST. Simple error, I realize.

According to the Wall Street Journal story published today, yesterday's Disney shareholders' meeting in Denver had only a total of 50 attendees present. Extremely low for a DIS meeting, probably due to the snowstorm that closed down the city.
gamndbndr,

Like you said, the snowstorm shut down Denver's Airport...it had nothing to do with lack of interest or fear of traveling...it was just plain-old bad luck in regards to weather...

I know its almost certain that the Premier track is heading to Universal, but it could be on its way to Animal Kingdom. Just throwing fuel to the fire. ;)
Was there anything specifically stating it was a roller coaster? According to the web page, it said this would be similiar the the Journey to the Center of the Earth attraction in Tokyo. Eisner said it would be a thrilling ride through the himilayas.. I also likes his "testosterone-driven" comment. Is that the secret new ride system?

I would LOVE if this ride is like Journey. That ride is head and shoulders above almost all American Disney rides. Here's hoping!

He never specifically said it would be a roller coaster. If it wasn't for all of the Forbidden Mountain-Yeti rumors circulating about, to hear Eisiner talk about a ride called something like "Climbing Mt. Everest" (his words) you'd think it would be Soarin' Over California East rather than an updated Matterhorn on steroids.

The only bummer is that while I'm obviously glad the guy asked the question he broke in when Eisner was about to reveal when it would open.

Oh well, an E-ticket in Animal Kingdom to help anchor the park's star Safari attraction can do amazing things for the park.

It seems to me another Soarin' ride would be a better fit at Epcot or MGM.

Animal Kingdom does need the boost, however.

I think it's time for Disney to step it up a little and build a world-record breaking, high-speed, tall coaster.

Space Mountain at Disney World is already your Matterhorn EAST, it's actually what you guys would call an update on the Matterhorn so there is really no need for another Matterhorn on the resort.

I don't get what you are saying, Vertigo. Space Mountain and Matterhorn are completely different experiences.
