DP Laser sold

Talon, Fire Dagon, and TG:TJC (my fav invert) all have one thing in common...a stretch of non-inverting track where you get some "float" and actually feel like you're flying. IMO, a much more pleasant "flying sensation" than what you get on the coasters where you ride prone...

Of the 110 people who rode both Talon and Raptor, 73 preferred Raptor, 37 preferred Talon. I am one of the 37.

Put me in that 37 as well.

1) 37! My girlfriend ..... 37 .....!
2) In a row?

(someone will get that reference)

Anyway, I'd also be in that 37, except I never fill out the steel poll so I guess that would make me #38. :)

HEY! try not to ride any coasters while you are walking thru the parking lot!

Interesting. I never put that together before. Even more interesting to me being as those are my top three rated inverts on Mitch's poll.

(also one of the 37)

Although I don't rank steel coasters (I've ridden too damn many of them to even begin to think about ranking) I, too, would be one of the 37 who prefer Talon over Raptor.

When it comes to B&M inverteds its my experience that the taller they are the more (over)engineered they are do keep g-forces in check. I much prefer the intensity of the Batman clones to the forcelessness of Alpengheist. Likewise I find Talon to have stronger forces than Raptor.

And I have no idea how Patriot outranked Talon. It's the same ride except minus all the unique parts at the end (the dips and super low turns and helices).

^^^^I never though I'd see a "Clerks" reference, let alone THAT one on the 'Buzz. Next thing you know it'll be Moosh & Gonch taking time off in the middle of the day to ride go-karts. (Another ref. that somebody SHOULD get...)

Someone told me the land near Steel Force is a filled in swimming pond. As long as they build over the Zephyr line and the creek there, that's the space they have available. There's a lonely restroom area down a long path near Steel Force and that filled in area. It would be a good lift area where Laser is. There's a senior housing tower not that far away from the site.

The land Revolution sits on and back is a filled in lake...the filled in swimming pool is actualy right under Laser, you can still see parts of the walls from the pool under Laser sticking out from the stones, one large wall runs right under the station.

Is that what he's calling it now?

If Moosh and Gonch every disappear together in the middle of the day it means one of two things:

1. I've changed teams.

or

2. I need help immediately.

Mamoosh's avatar
You need help either way, lol.

That being said, a change of teams doesn't have to be permanent. I'll settle for an hour (or three) lol ;)

mOOSH - glad Gonch has such a good sense of humor!

2Hostyl, the answer to the million dollar movie reference would be Clerks.

"Look at us spinning out in the madness of a roller coaster" - Dave Matthews Band

Hopman, too easy of a segue. Clerks II. :)

Im one of the majoriy, the reason I like Raptor more is mostly due to its final helix (which I find more forceful) but also due to the fact that Raptor has the B&M "roar" and Talon doesnt (almost all my favorite B&Ms have it) and that Raptor was one of my first inverts (following B:TR, Great Bear, and Alpengeist) and I find that the coasters I rode early in my fandom tend to be higher then the ones I have most recently ridden.

For me I can't thing of a single thing I like about Talon more than Raptor. Just the first drop on Raptor alone puts it in a different league for me. I do indeed like the straight line floaty stuff that Gator is referring to but for me it didn't perform on Talon the way it does on the one at Carowinds, or especially Fire Dragon, my favorite invert. The straight hill, with that hard, hard transition into the wrap around Immelman with it's face-melting g's and then the straight track before the vertical loop is an incredible sequence. The sheer amount of nuance and variety and orchestration in that short amount of track is really astounding to me, more like something you'd find on a well thought-out woodie than your typical B&M which tend to have just the most boring transitions between elements sometimes.
On watching videos of the Raptor, I too was impressed by that layout combo you're talking about, Matt. It's one of the reasons I will be actually BOTHERING to ride Raptor. That and the fact that I am hoping to hit all the coasters AT Cedar Point if I can manage it in two days. I fear nothing now, so...hehehehe...

Interesting that they have that pavilion marked off like that. Wonder if they're expanding or if they're putting in some crap food joint or something. I'm still hoping against all hope that they'll put in an Intamin pre-fab woodie. One, as I said before, can dream. :)

2Hostyl and Hopman: how about...."Ye have little faith. Wanna cookie?"

^ I'm guessing DOGMA!!!!

Now a movie in the same vein as "Clerks" about park employees that would be too funny & too true.

A freind of mine (a fellow CP grunt in '05) had an idea like this. Some of the taglines could be:

"If you dealth with 100 puddles of puke a day, you'd hate 'em too."

"You must be at least 48" to view this movie"

"They're underpaid, overworked, and had way too much to drink last night."

"100 tons of trash, $6.75/hr, 75 rides & ZERO respect!"

"Arms down, head back, and who gives a hoot?"

"If you only knew..."

"50,000 guests, 5,000 crew, and a guest IQ of 50. You do the math."

A few of the titles we came up with:

"Behind the Lines"

"The 'Screw Crew"

"CP: Confidential"

"21 Line Jumpers"

"Midways of Mayhem"

NO, not Dogma. Mallrats. :)

I'd go see any movie where the bulk of it is in an amusement park. LOL

So does anyone know when Laser stops operating? I still haven't made it back out there.

^Seems to make sense they'd operate it through the season...since the buyer would likely not get any use out of it for the remainder of this operating season.

Given the history, I kinda doubt anyone official will come out and SAY when Laser stops running at DP... :(

The only think I am worried about is they closed Hercules with no notice and that was in September. They claimed it was because they had to close it that early to start work for Hydra. If Laser is in the way for a 2009 project couldn't the same thing happen? Or maybe not since Screamworks is in that area and I'm sure they wouldn't want that closed.

The length of the queue? ;)

Bunky, so I was wrong. oh well. The last movie to feature a coaster perdomitally was "Final Destination 3".
