On a side note, I will have to get over to the park soon and ride Laser a lot, as there's no guaranteeing it will hang around till the end of the season. It's a coaster designed to be easily and quickly disassembled, and it's located right next to a gate to a main road. If the buyers want to get it quickly...
May have to tweak it a little bit, but it wouldn't be hard, it is essentially a flat area.

Speaking of which, seeing as how this was/is supposed to open next season, has anyone seen any work goingon yet? Construction markers, footers, etc.?

The layout may be changed but I really think Valleyfair will get a GCI and Not GAM.

I really hope Dorney gets a GCI in place of it because that's the only thing I really feel would make up for losing Laser. I know people could say, you just got Voodoo but I was always afraid they were going to get rid of Laser after Voodoo was installed. Maybe they would have gotten rid of Laser anyway but if there isn't a new coaster, it means Dorney hasn't gained a new coaster (I mean had the coaster count increase) since Talon in 2001. *** Edited 7/29/2008 5:11:06 AM UTC by YoshiFan***

Yeah, you guys at Dorney are just soooo mistreated with how few coasters you guys have. Give me a break.

I don't think anyone actually bemoans the fact that Dorney doesn't have a lot of coasters, but I think we're more along the lines of the opinion that none of them are "stellar" coasters. They have all above average coasters compared to many parks, but they're all mini-versions of better coasters somewhere else, or just plain inferior versions of coasters somewhere else (Hydra vs. Medusa, Steel Force vs. Magnum-XL, Talon vs. Raptor, Voodoo vs. Wicked Twister). I think the locals are all kind of...well, bored. It can happen easily when you've been riding nearly the same toned-down rides with no lines for season after season. I still love the fact that I have been a passholder at Dorney for so long that I can tell you which trains, which seats, which harnesses, etc. are the best...I know many of the tricks and best places to go and whatnot, but I'm just so psyched to hit Cedar Point and ride some of the more serious versions of Dorney's decent lineup.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!
Bottom line is that even without Laser, Dorney has an awesome collection of coasters that many people in this country would kill to have in their area. I loved Dorney. People in Eastern PA have it made with Dorney, Hershey, Knoebbels, and SFGAdv to choose from.
Certain victory.

There is definitely enough room behind Laser for the GCI that GAM is "getting"
I'm not sure about that but even if it is true, don't forget that Dorney has some PITA neighbors and just because the park has the land to build something doesn't mean they will be able to build something. Hydra's hillside could serve as an excellent location for a wood coaster, but to build one there would be to ignore some of the reasons why Hercules was demolished.
For me, the loss of Laser would be a big deal. As much as I love Steel Force and Talon, having a powerful Schwarzkopf looper really balanced the collection of coasters at Dorney. With Laser gone, that's just one less reason for me to visit the park over others in the area.
