Dorney park files for a zoning request.

As in a whole 'nother? (direction, that is.) ;)

As in, I honestly think that wood is the next direction for Dorney.

Differnt direction, like becomeing about same size as CP, or just CP's east branch?

Dorney will never be about the same size as CP.

I think Dorney Park will be getting SV because the picture showed for 2 towers which SV has. And as for the Wood coaster, is a good idea but not for a couple of years.

Perhaps "supposed to get" was the wrong wording. More like, "very strongly rumored to get".

I think that a lot of us Midwesterns are hoping that the "supposed" wood coaster comes to WoF now.

Come on guys, everyone knows that they are using the 2 existing height variences to put in Cell Phone Towers to generate extra revenue. ;)

I hope so, I really want a wooden coaster over Steel Venom and I feel that the park could use another wooden coaster more than a steel since the park already has a decent collection of steel coasters. *** Edited 2/28/2007 10:45:36 PM UTC by YoshiFan***

In other words the coaster community rumors about it for so long and wants it so bad, we will it into possibility only to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Those examples are wishes, not rumors. Dorney's rumors were not wishes started by the "coaster community," they did in fact have grounds. However, such sources are not always something that can be shared.

So first you say the park was supposed to get a woodie, but then you say they were strongly rumored to get a woodie instead, and now you're saying that there is a source but you can't reveal it.

NOTHING HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT DORNEY GETTING STEEL VENOM. Why are people acting as though this is a done deal? And why do people seem more enthused about that than the idea of the park getting a new wood coaster? Is a used Impulse that exciting? I don't remember people getting this all charged up the first time the things were built.

How quickly we forget the collective yawn from the enthusiast community when it was announced that Valleyfair was getting one!

Two more coasters for Cedar Point after maverick, and we have a peninsula of twisted metal. "Twenty coasters". Wow!

I'd venture to say...no. But just the fact that it's coming from another park adds a level of intrigue coupled with the fact that it's in that Dorney/Hershey/Knoebels/SFGAdv sweet spot where a lot of enthusiasts live ups the fervor level.

Imagine if something like Renegade or Boardwalk Bullet were being built at Dorney - people would be going batpoop crazy.

To me personally the idea of an Impulse at Dorney is just about the most boring coaster addition I can imagine. Just another average/mediocre coaster at a park already full to the brim with them.

REQUEST FOR REZONING

An application to modify a prior amendment to the South Whitehall Township Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map. The applicant seeks to relocate the two rectangular areas within the CR – Commercial Recreation zoning district that allow amusements up to an elevation of 540 feet above sea level. The rectangular area approximately 48 feet by 110 feet is proposed to be moved approximately one hundred-five (105) feet from its preset location and the rectangular area approximately 48 feet by 80 feet is proposed to be moved approximately thirty (30) feet from its preset location. The size of each area is to remain unchanged. Cedar Fair Limited Partnership is the applicant.

Fine, I'll bite -

Talon is hands down my least favorite B&M invert (and I've ridden most of the American ones), Hydra I haven't ridden but it ranks behind most B&M floorless coasters in Mitch's poll, all of which I think are pretty mediocre to begin with, Thunderhawk was completely forgettable, and Steel Force is by far my least favorite hyper of the ones I've ridden. The only thing remarkable I found at the park was Hercules but that was only because it was so remarkably atrocious.

It's not that any of Dorney's coasters are bad per se but every major park in the surrounding area has better.
