Dorney Park 2008 - Voodoo

"Isn't the bible full of graphic imagery in words that are meant to spark the imagination and influence you as a person?"

I was talking about protests outside of movies like Harry potter or lashing out against stuff like that.

I guess I was being abit too general. Your right I know some good christians and it is the ones that go out of their way to cause trouble for things like this that bother me. Other ones that bother me are ones that say I'm no good because I don't believe in things that I should and ones that try to convert me. So my apologies to all the decent christians on the board.
It's ONLY a name!

Complain about something better..

The legend continues
^ We are talking about the logo... not the name.
Another construction update for everyone. They've started to build a big mound of dirt near one end of the construction site.

I'm not sure I totally get why yet though.

There's photos in the link below in my sig.

More track is arriving at the park and it's bright yellow like Wicked Twister and Valleyfair!'s Steel Venom.

There's some pics at the link in my sig.

Hmmm... well from a chain that has a purple red and yellow MANTIS, I guess yellow track for a Voodoo theme ain't that bad... not!
^ Just because a ride is named after an animal doesn't mean it has to be painted to look like it.

Otherwise, SheiKra, Raptor and Raging Bull would be an eyesore coffee-brown color. Iron Wolf would entirely be a bland gray. And Steel Eel would be a dark swamp-green/dirty-yellow color.

You get my point. ;)

No, I don't get your point kRaXL...

Mantis is the color it is b/c it was supposed to be called 'Banshee'.

When is the last time you saw,... an Iron Wolf? hehehe... hey im jus playin ;)

So, I was just looking at some pics of Voodoo at Dorney.

The yellow track pieces look to me to be brand new. Does anyone else think so? When they paint existing coasters, the "wheel stripes" usually go away. But, the yellow pieces of track definitely have pure white "wheel stripes".

What do you all think? If they're new, do you think they reprofiled them in some way to prevent whatever "accident" happened before from happening again?

That's a good question. When I was last at the park looking at those pieces I wondered the same thing.

They did seem to just appear separate from the red track pieces...

The yellow pieces are repainted track segments. If you look at the "wheel tracks" they are not pure-white, but have usuage already in them.

The reason they still look pretty new is the fact that they are essentially the bottom of the track, where the wheel doesn't make the most contact. The otherside will have more wear than that side as all the wheel pressure is exerted on it.

Ok, so maybe pure white was the wrong choice of words. But, the wheel stripes on the yellow pieces definitely look virgin. They're way lighter than the wheel stripes on the red tracks. Plus, I'm not sure why they would go through the effort of taping off those stripes if the track was just repainted.

I wish we had closer pics of the yellow track. To me, all four of those pieces look brand new.

Also, if they were repainted in transit to Dorney, why weren't all of the track sections painted in transit? Why bring some in red and paint others? That doesn't make sense to me.

^ You are overly analyzing the photograph. Those aren't newly fabricated track pieces. It was just repainted.
Maybe, they will have different colors for segments of track. They look brand spanking old to me. You can see those stripes on the red track too.

I always thought that half of the track for Two-Face should be black, and the other part white, or they could have done it like the Batman Forever movie. I think it was purple, and white. By half the track I mean separated by the middle of the track. One rail is white, and the other one is black. It would look so freaky, and cool.

Even repainted it would be extremely useful to keep the wheel tracks. They aren't there for aesthetics, they are there to keep the paint from cracking and chipping off the running rails due to wheel friction and forces.

Dorney launched their new website for Voodoo today, check it out - it's pretty slick.

^^I always wondered why Intamin had the wheel tracks.

It's interesting that this is the first time I've ever seen that kind of track be repainted.

Oh.. oh my, the site blatantly says it will "possess me", where do I file a complaint, I don't go to theme parks to be possessed by satanic demons!!one!eleven!!

...On a serious note, that is one awesome site, I hope it stays up/isn't banned/isn't complained about etc. I love it! I'll love this ride! *** Edited 11/10/2007 4:23:25 AM UTC by P18***

^Why would Dorney Park's web site go away, get banned, or complained about?
