Dorney Park 2008 - Voodoo

Correct me if I'm wrong. But, wern't those height variences applied for a long time ago for a different ride? Like a sky coaster or a sling shot or something. I thought they were just asking for the varience locations to be changed.

Not that it matters. Either way we've known about this for quite some time now.

As a season pass holder back then I received a card in the mail that announced Banshee. I thought the logo was one of the coolest ones I had ever seen. I still have it somewhere, but I was disappointed when they changed the name/logo two weeks later. I also questioned the name Demon Drop if they were concernered about that particular area. The Steel Force logo at DP is similar to the Banshee logo, but slightly less evil.

I also have no idea what button I hit on my keyboard that has made me type in italics, but I can't seem to stop it.

I loved the Banshee logo. It sucks they had to go for something "less evil". LOL, it was a logo, it wasn't "evil" unless you believed it was "evil", and took it WAY too seriously.
That was another group of freaks who got that changed, "OMGzorz lets eliminate all scary ghost pictures cauz they bringz the satanz, cauz we are so weak we feel threatened and inflenced by a COASTER LOGO!"

I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from BatwingFanSFA on this one. Sure, all the impulses have yellow track (except for the former SV at GL), but all the other impulses have totally different support colors.

I just had the best idea pop into my head about this ride. At CP, they play a song called "The Winner" by The Crystal Method off of "Tweekend" in the station.

How about Dorney plays "Voodoo People" off of The Prodigy's "Music For the Jilted Generation"? This is one extremely fast, aggressive breakbeat song that is sure to get people's hearts racing even faster, even before boarding:) It would rule.

That would be a good station track, also I was hoping to finally hear some Godsmack at an amusement park, that would create an erie atmosphere more then an "adrenaline race" one, but I like the song. They could even follow up with the "sequel song" (Voodoo Too)

Also the song matches the logo, and plays a little on the original Cedar Fair name in the chorus, "when I feel the snakebite enter my veins":)

You know it's going to change though. I mean look at it. Look at the park it's going into. That's the most creative logo and ride name that CF has ever come up with, imho. It's not generic enough to be a logo at a CF park.

"voodoo people" by prodigy? yup thats a stomper. perfect fit.

i say enclose the ride and add a spiffy lighting package as well just for giggles

it wasnt working before for me but now it seems like my opinion may sway. i like dorney's decision on a "dark-themed" name. The logo is unique and very graphically quite impressive. This to me makes up for the fact that its a relocated ride (not that that matters though im just saying!) its good they are spicing it up. Now lets just hope for this theming i speak of to show up

I actually REALLY am a BIG fan of the name.

Well Steel Force has the Banshee logo already.

So, I guess this means Laser wasn't for sale, and they aren't selling it!! Yeah! That's a stupid name in my opinion. They should just keep it Steel Venom. I say the worst Cedar Fair name had to be Dominator. I love the ride, but goodness, that's a horrible name.

I've always been a huge critic of Cedar Fair naming rides the same as their other rides. So, even though I'm late commenting on this, kudos to the chain for coming up with a sweet logo and new name for Steel Venom. Now they only have one Steel Venom thankfully. I think this is going to be a great addition to Dorney. They have something now that not even Great Adventure has.

Funny you should mention that. We saw that logo on a shirt in the Pagoda shop at Cedar Point today, together with the phrase "Voodoo rider", and wondered what it was for!

I could swear it said "Cedar Point" on it somewhere, though. Curious....

If you look at that blog again they have the track delevered or some of the launch track and its red.

of course its red.. it has always been red lol..
