"Diaster Zone" at Cedar Point...

I spent two hours on a walk around campus today and went to a carnival fyi. Unfortunately, the air is never "fresh" here. And it could just be end of the semester stress getting to me.
You need a hug... (((Andy Hoffman)))

:)

My tone the whole time has been supportive and positive. It usuially is, even when it seems it is not.

Since the topic is about going outside now, I rode my bike to and from Burger King today, about One Three miles alltogether. Also, I have been packing for my big move this weekend, and I left the windows, curtains, and doors wide open. I played some CD's I forgot I had. I played with my landlords dog, Cocoa for about an hour. She likes to play chase. I cleaned out and vacumed my car, then I Amoralled the dashboard.

The weather today was beautiful, and I had a very eventfull day for not going to work.

Oh...Quick, say something about coasters...I am going to work at Cedar point this year, hence the packing.

Hey, dexter check your pm's. How else can we veer this thread into a totally different direction?

My attempt to get this back on track (haha track rollercoasters! That's punny):

I have never been to the point(gasp!) and I think I would like to ride Disaster Transport Just cause I am a woody fan and tend to lean towards rides that are more about fun than about statistics and this ride looks like a lot of fun.

I think it would be such a better ride if it didn't have the hideous, tacky building around it.

I agree. The building, what I have seen of it anyway, looks very bland. Perhaps some theming on the outside of the ride could spruce it up a bit.

[Getting back on track for a second]

Ya know...this whole "scaring off the newbies" argument has been played over and over...and yet new people are still coming to CBuzz. I think it's a non-issue.

I thought that this thread was about how much of a disaster zone Cedar Point is. Sorry, I misunderstood the title.
I can't say why, but I kind of like DT. It has a certain funfactor to it that I enjoy.

My one trip to CP in 4 years last May DT seemed to be running pretty fast. It also had a Half hour wait time, comparable to other big rides at CP that day. It could be lower capacity, but my point is that people were willing to wait.

I don't see it as too bad; I even kind of like the themeing in the queue.

Mamoosh, I think you mean off track. But I have a hunch you may be right, but I do not see that as a valid argument for a negative atmosphere.

Coasterphan, you misread it completely Cedar Point is a "diaster zone" not a "diSaster zone"! (This is not really my opinion, recall I have not been there yet)

I didn't see anyone being negative in this thread. Neuski's "Ever heard of Google?" post might be interpreted as curt but I didn't see it as being rude. And I am equally guilty of being lazy on occasion...it's not a put-down.

YMMV, as always ;)

Sometimes it seems like a 'scare the newb' mentality, but the community has an odd way of regulating itself. CB users tend to spot crap a mile away.

Consider what the original poster has contributed to this point.

That's not 'scaring the newb', it's more like quality control.

Posts like this are best received at...err, other forums. :)

Neuski's post can be construed as negative, but as mentioned before (I think it was Mamoosh) the tone of our voices and facial expressions do not come across over the internet, no matter how hard I press my face against the screen. I however do see laziness as negative. Of course I was brought up just like a good ol' Hoosier with a German background. (Grandpa never could sit still and never let me sit still either.) I was always told by my parents and grandparents that laziness is not a good thing and was ridiculed if I behaved lazily (is that even a word?). *** Edited 4/20/2006 5:23:50 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

Gawd that was sexy! ;)

So are you saying that this forum is too good for some people? I mean he might not have contributed to anything, but he might have read the answer to his question (if he can find it among all this other shtuff).

Another attempt to get this back on topic (I am desparately trying):
I really hope that rides like DT begin to pop up more. I think if the new one at Knoebel's is successful, it is a good possibility that some of our favorite parks will get a coaster like this. *** Edited 4/20/2006 5:30:00 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

You're right, my original post was rude. But had he not been starting his share of, to put it bluntly, crappy posts, I would have been polite.

Here is the final point. I gave Google "Cedar Point Diaster Zone" and had no problem finding information about DT. If he truly wanted to know the information, he would have looked it up himself instead of starting a thread that he hasn't replied to yet.

After reading his other posts (some might have been deleted that I did not get to read), I agree that they were not so nice and therefore deserved a post like yours. Sometimes though, I do see posts like that that are not deserved.

I too have done a google search and am currently reading page four of the results (none of the results thus far have mentioned disaster or transport or direct me to Cedar Point's website)

Update: I have read through all 279 results (not the actual pages but read the titles for something that would be relevant to Cedar Point's Disaster Transport) None of them were linked to Cedar Point's website or gave information about Disaster Transport. *** Edited 4/20/2006 5:47:34 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

Search "diaster zone cedar point" (assuming the approach of the original post) - it will ask if you meant "disaster zone cedar point" and obviously you'd realize your spelling error at that point so you'd click it.

This is the result. :)

a_hoffman50's avatar
Ok well I would hope that one would realize the spelling error, but since he spelled it wrong twice, perhaps he thought it really was called diaster zone. (Maybe I am out too far on this limb, gosh I am scared of heights too) *** Edited 4/20/2006 5:51:06 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

Honestly, at that point (and I'm not just being a smartass here), I'd think, "Wow, I must be really off here" and check the CP site.

(and I'd wonder where things went so far wrong in my life that I thought 'diaster' was a word ;) )

I gotta side with lazy or trolling here. There are plenty of legitimate questions about the parks, rides and industry and those get answered enthusiastically quite often - this isn't one of them.

EDIT: color me stupid - diaster is a word. I learned that by looking it up. :)

You are probably right, but I try to look at things from all angles no matter how far-fetched they may seem.

And I didn't think Grottenblitz was a word either. ;)

I think you are right about many questions getting answered and I really think that it is swell that they do get answered by the great group of people that we have here.

You inspired me to look up that word too.
Ok folks so the word of the day is diaster.

Di`asĀ“ter
