"Diaster Zone" at Cedar Point...

Given that he named the thread "Diaster Zone" (the absence of the "s" might have been a typo, I don't know), some people would not have been able to figure out that what they were looking for is "Disaster Transport" I am not saying that this is the case in this particular case, but weirder things have happened. As far as the board being filled with 2 post questions, I see no problem with it, if it promotes a positive atmosphere. The argument could be made that it would take up space, but what is this board for if not for information and discussion?

The rattling on in this thread proves that a question like that does NOT need to be asked here.

I don't know if I'd call it laziness, but it sure isn't hard to check out the CP website. The answer would be there. :)

Fho the Wuck asked you, Robbio? ;)
A question and an answer is not discussion.

I'm done.

But he did not know whether it was even still open, so if he would check the website, he might not realize that "Disaster Transport" was the name of the ride he is looking for. The only way to look for rides on their is by name and although the description might have given the info that matched what he was looking for, I don't think it could be found easily. Put yourself in the other person's shoes once. You are a person who has not been to Cedar Point in a very long time. You recall a ride that may or may not be open and do not really know what the name was or what the ride exactly did. Would your first reaction be to go to Cedar Point's website or ask your friends on Coasterbuzz if any of them know what you are talking about or if you were going crazy and thinking of some other ride someplace else. And I don't think the rattling on this thread proves anything but people on here think more negatively about newcomers than old hats.

Neuski, what is so wrong about asking questions that require a quick response? *** Edited 4/20/2006 3:14:09 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

But if he'd said, "I checked CP's website for a ride called Diaster Zone and couldn't find it...is it still open?" at least it would have showed that he TRIED to do some legwork.
a_hoffman50's avatar
True, but as it stands, we really don't know if he did or not. I mean we are assuming that he did not, because we only have the information we are given. I know that some legwork done by another person would be nice, but this is not a perfect society.

I don't disagree with you one bit!
I had a friend that was on dialysis. She called treatment Diaster. That being said, she'd have called it a Diaster Zone.

Well, maybe not.

Damn, one little harmless question sparks up this much debate and controversy, Maybe "lurking around the site" is what way too many people do way too much of already... *** Edited 4/20/2006 3:25:56 AM UTC by P18***

I think some on here are just too negative towards newcomers.
I think some people don't read the TOS and are lazy.
Mamoosh's avatar
I agree with both of you! ;)
A new guy asks one simple question and everybody here goes crazy. Just end this stupid thread!!!
Mamoosh's avatar
Don't lump me into the "going crazy" bunch. I've remained calm through this whole thread. Again, I caution everyone not to assume you know a person's tone when they post.

I think that just because somebody asks a question, it does not mean that they are lazy, but that they are trying to use the resources available to them in the best way they see fit. As a (very near future) teacher, I tend to think that anybody that uses the type of thinking that anybody who does not look things up for themselves is lazy does not fully understand how some people's minds work. Not everybody can look things up for themselves and no they are not lazy, but by coming here and asking a question is looking it up.
And as far as reading the TOS, this has nothing to do with this thread. Nobody has broken any rules in the terms of service. (Other than the fact that this has morphed into something that is way off topic.)

By the way, I have not gone crazy, I was already there! *** Edited 4/20/2006 3:55:24 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***

This is too funny.

Pizzaguy is 16, he joined yesterday, and it says he lives on the Enterprise. ...OK?

Yes, let's all try and forget about it.

We have to have something to do for the next couple weeks! ;)

You all need to get away from your computers, and get some fresh air.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'll bet their is someone who has not made their first post yet, looking at this thread right here, and saying to themself, "Now I know what NOT to do on CoasterBuzz."

I'll admit that's what I did when I first joined. I lurked. I stayed silent until I was comfortable getting into the conversations. When I did, it was still not pretty because I can't spell the word "spell" sometimes, but I managed, and so will Pizzaguy.

I love Coasterbuzz because the conversation here is rich. It's rich because most posters know how they are expected to use the forums.

Also it's nearing the end of the offseason and hopefully this kind of stuff will get more lost as the boards start to pick up.
