Deja Vu, when will it open

(I got 3 rides last sunday...including my first on 8b since the rehab. Damn. Just Damn.)

Chipster

I got 2 rides in 8B on Monday (GA). Both rides were absolutely awesome - so smooth I couldn't believe I was in a Vekoma.

If the seatbelt was added due to guests not feeling secure enough, how does Superman get away with their restraint system when you're hanging face down the whole ride?

Maybe because S:UF's restraint system feels more secure than the Vekoma pre-seatbelt system??

Let's not forget that the Beemer also features shin restraints that really *do* add to the safety....:)

Now back to your discussion on Deja Vu....I feel like I said that before...

The seatbelts are the same that are used on many coasters I've been on. They are safe and strong. Whether they are neded is another question altogether...

But they do probably protect the park from some amount of litigation in the event of an "incident."

Let's hope that doesn't happen. Until then, get used to the seat belts because they're not coming out.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Superman with no seatbelts still feels more secure than Deja with seatbelts, in my opinion. Feeling all your weight pressing against the belts probably makes you feel less secure.

Six Flags bought 3 nearly perfect rides, but they insisted that Vekoma placed an extra (3rd) safety brake before the second lifthill.
(when the lifthill doesn't take the train high enough, it is stopped by the lifthill and held in place...there is also a 2nd safety brake down the lifthill)
The brake Vekoma suggested was too expensive for Six Flags, so they tried to find a sollution on their own. Which resulted in many stalls, due to unneccesary braking.

The orange seatbelts are also useless. You take the restraint down and attach it to the seat with the small belt just like on any other inverted coaster. Even B&M.
Six Flags insisted on an extra seatbelt, which resulted in long (un-)loading times.

Another thing Six Flags did was building a dumb and ugly evacuation platform on the boomerang-element. They should just remove THEIR trimbrakes and let Vekoma reset (as a way of speaking) the whole ride.

You obviously do not know what you're talking about. There are no trim brakes on Deja Vu. The brakes that *are* there were installed by Vekoma, and are there for the same reason they're found on Vekoma Boomerangs and Invertigos. They are designed to *prevent* the train from valleying due to a premature release from lift two (the same brakes are found between the station and the boomerang element). They're not the real problem anyway, it's the system Six Flags insists on using when loading the ride.

As for the seatbelts, they were deemed necessary due to public response to the ride.

Lets say the restraint did fail and it sorta unlocked and popped back. (could that happen?) Would the seatbelt not let the restraint go too far out and allow the person (if they're smart) to pull it back and hold it tightly through the ride? Or would the seatbelt just be pulled out and the person's screwed? I've geard all these stories that people's lap bars have just popped back and they have to pull it back down.

Also, are there any problems with Stunt Fall by any chance?

Yeah, I have never heard anyone saying that Stunt Fall had any problems. What is the situation there?

I really hope that Deja Vu opens soon. I am going on August 5th to the park, do you think it will be open by then? Please, please, please, say yes! :)

Stunt Fall, as I recall, DID valley a while back...

gator's sig will not be operational today....we regret any inconvenience....
I dont think you hear the stories of stunt fall do to it not being in the US (where most of the members here are).
Interesting to note that the pictures of Stunt Fall from RCDB do not show any valley platforms it.....Perhaps these pictures were taken too early and they now exist, but if they dont, it would lead me to believe that they are not having as much trouble.

Those pictures were taken when the ride first opened. The platforms weren't installed yet.

If I remember correctly, a while back, Stuntfall became stuck on the first lift during a power failure, but I’m pretty certain that it has never vallied. I know here on the ‘buzz there was a member (who was a notorious Vekoma-hater) that claimed it had similar problems to the Déjà vu’s, but there was absolutely no supporting evidence to his claims.

Does anybody else agree that Stunt Fall just looks so much better than Deja Vu? I mean colorwise and namewise. Why did that park get the good colors and name?

"To overcome the spiders curse, simply quote a bible verse. Thou shalt not...uh, screw this."
"Hey, that looks like Princess Diana. Oh wait, it's just a pile of rags."

I thnk the name Deja Vu goes along with the ride well (w/the fact you travel through the ride one way and then again the other) and it isnt that bad. The color schemes are equally good.

Also, I know holydumb26 put a link to his page with pics from 7/23 and 7/24 on sfgamworld.com. I believe its under "DEJAVU TRAIN ON TRACK." (there are two of those topics).

I prefer the green and blue myself.

Is it really opening back up? I/m a little confused. Last time I heard they were scheduling a demolition date for the coaster. The scrap is expected to be hauled off to a local junk yard.

The obvious question is....who did you hear that from?

The coaster has been testing all week...not usually what you see when a coaster is about to be scrapped.
