DEJA VU at SFGAm finally open yeaaa

I was on Deja Vu when it valleyed. We just finished the loop and started going up the second tower and the catch car never caught us to bring us higher. We then started going backwards right away and the brakes locked on the loop. We where stuck in that position for about ten minutes. Then they released the brakes and we rocked back and forth for ten to fifteen minutes between tower two and the loop till the train stopped. At this point many of the people wanted off the ride. The ride opp's convinced everyone to stay on because they didn't want to set up safety nets for people to get off. After about twenty minutes of sitting there the finally hooked up the train to another cable that hooked us up to the catch car on tower two. We finished the ride going backwards without a problem. After we got off Deja Vu they sent the ride again to test it. The catch car missed the train again on the second tower and the same problem happened.

At least the gave us passes to go on any ride we wanted to without waiting, including Superman.

I was standing at the enterance when the 7:00 valley happened. It was testing- I was thinking it will open soon (I just arrived at the park). The ride did its thing going forward, then went up the second tower and gravity took over. The brakes on the upside of the loop did its thing- it was loud. The brakes were released, it went up tower 2, gravity took over again, and stopped on the loop brakes. Then it released and it rocked back and forth between tower 2 and the loop.

I thought, "It would suck to be there, rocking back and forth until it stopped". Luckily, the train was already empty (mymach5 did not get so lucky)

I decided it was a lost cause and went to RB. The train was still rocking back and forth.

SFGAMan - My wait for RB at 7:10 was around 40 minutes.

Yeah it was down for the whole day today it sucked : (. I think there messing with the Catch Car to try to get it fixed asap but will have to see Ill check tommorow hope fully it will be open.

"THE DEMON HES GONNA GET YA"

Heres my story on Deja Vu yesterday...if anybody cares to read lol.

I was able to get two rides in yesterday before it valleyed. I ran to the ride in the morning and eaisly won...everyone else went to Raging Bull. It opened just after 11:15, I rode front row on the first ride and then headed to Bull. While at Bull I was watching it and noticed I never saw it run again. Later I found out it only ran 2 runs then broke down. Got on it again after it opened up again.

Then later in the day, I just came out from seeing Cold Fusion looked up and saw both of Deja Vu's catch cars.

So I pointed out to my brother it was down again. As I was walking towards it I started thinking "well if the catch cars are there the train must have valleyed". Walked a little further and could see no train in the station. I immediatly thought the worst. (It being stuck between the loop and cobra.) But walked a little further and saw the empty train rocking back and fourth under the 2nd tower.

I watched them wench it up and work on it from where the Hometown Square kiddies used to be. Looked like alot of the work being focused on the first towers catch car. They finally got it back to the station and then it looked like the mechanics just gave up, so I figured it wasn't going to open anymore and left.

I was hoping they had got all the problems worked out with the ride, but I guess not. But with it only in its second day of operation for this year and after some changes, hopefully all it takes is some fine tuning.

That's good, I think a between the roll and loop valley would put the Vu back on the permanently not in operation list. Hopefully things are getting better, too bad the SFGAM one seems to be the runt of the litter.

Magnum55,

You said there were no lines over an hour except for Superman on Sunday. Does that include Deja Vu?

_____________________

Yup, that included Deja Vu, although it may have reached close to an hour (or maybe more by mid-day). I was lucky to get in line not too long after it opened around 11:30 a.m.

The BIG problem with the wait times with this ride is the totally ridiculous load procedure by the SFGAm crew. They first walk up and down tightening the lap seatbelts, and then lock the shoulder harnesses and then separately walk and up to check them. Does anybody know why they do this? T Do SFMM and SFOG have this same procedure?

he dispatch intervals were at least 4 minutes long .... just terrible capacity made even worse by (seemingly) inept loading procedures.

That said, this is one of the very few rides where I wish I had pulled my shoulder harness all the way down -- it was very loose and I slid too far forward on the first tower (I haven't been scared on a coaster in a long time....but that did it)

Where did it valley the two times it valleyed

As others wrote, it valleyed both times in between the loop and the second tower. Both times it missed the catch wagon. I remember the first time I tried to ride it during Halloween 2001 (when it first ran) and sure enough, it was missing the catch wagon that whole time and I did not get to ride it then...

Yesterday was my first ride -- its a very good ride, but clearly an engineering nightmare.

Deja-Vu continues to be a monument in my eyes. Went to the park today and it never opened. :(

I did see it test once though. :)

That's funny -- not the fact that you haven't ridden it, but that its nothing more than a "monument." I felt the same, but got lucky yesterday -- I didn't even know it might running on Sunday.

I think it is a really under-rated ride - probably because of its mechanical problems and the fact that so few have ridden it. I expected little from it (maybe that helped) because I am not a Vekoma fan -- but it really surprised me. The two drops are great, in my view.

Ive been on it before magnum55. My daughter was looking forward to riding it for her first time but to no avail.

That's really disappointing to hear it was closed Monday. I was going to go on Monday though, thankfully I didn't. I'm going on Wednesday and I'm hoping so much to get my first ride. An hour line for an operating Deja Vu is a dream for me. Does anyone know if this problem with catching on the 2nd tower can be fixed quickly? Like by Wednesday? I'll be getting there at 1 on Wed. so hopefully it will be opening and I can catch my first ride. I can't wait.
You have to realize that it just opened on Saturday. Give it time. You cant expect it to run perfectly. This happened at SFOG too.

The line was at least 2 hours on Sunday. I know because I waited for it.
I'll be at SFGAM on August 6th. I havent been there since May of 2001, Deja Vu was still being built. Cant wait to get on the thing.

It wasn't anywhere near 2 hours on Sunday morning. I waited 40 minutes and could have hopped back in line afterwards for the same wait. (This was around 12pm). Around 2pm it seemed to get longer for the rest of the day. Did it break down a lot when you were in line?

We still havent seen what a weekday wait is like yet. Luckily August crowds are light and the line shouldnt be bad. 40 min at 12:00 on a Sunday afternoon in July. Thats pretty good.

For what it is worth, at SFOG the wait time is usually 1:30 to 2:00 depending on dispatch intervals...the closer to 4 min, the closer to 1:30.

The ride is continuing to find speed as the year is progressing....

Deja Vu Seat 8B (at night)...There is NO substitute

Yeah I waited for 2hrs at SFoG for Deja Vu midday. It was not full queue, just full switchbacks. I imagine full queue would have been about 2.5hrs.

Definitely not worth the wait, but since it's been closed basically the whole year and I wanted to ride it, I chose to wait it out. Besides, Homey G and I had some deep conversation goin'! :)

For what it's worth though, I didn't see the ride close once the whole day. I guess it's improving, slowly but surely.

I do have to admit that during the day on Sunday, after I got my ride, every time I looked over at Deja Vu they were seriously pumping out the trains. So when it was working, the crew there must have been haulin some serious a$$.
