contruction at pki

That's sad about that worker. I think I would close that ride down too, if I were management.
Closing some things can be in best intrest to ensure safety. A new midway really wouldn't be all that hard if they spaced it out enough so they wouldn't box theirselfs in again like they did before. I wonder though if they would build a new midway and add a new coaster at the same time. IF they did I wouldn't see them building a midway and adding a 15 million dollar coaster there to say for the most part on the same year. I think though if they did do this they would put more emphasis on that side of the park near rivertown and less on hanah barbera land. I am not saying they wouldn't add new things to barbera land it is just they might slow down on in and go more for thrills

Wow, I've never seen so much pointless speculation. The only thing that they're doing now is creating an access road so they can get the old ride out. That's it. Nothing else.

Will something else go there? Sure, eventually. However, right now, the only thing going on is rumor mongering.

Well said Jeff. The old log flume has to go before anything can be put it.

As for the Wild Safari they probably had problems with the cold winters. I know they had problems with the babboons almost immediatly after the ride opened. in 1975, 50 of them escaped twice!!
Jeff, its sometimes good to have pointless spectulation. I know PKI is in session, but during the off season of the park, usually until about mid feburary thats what keeps us going. Also, its not hurting people just to talk about something, is it?

I think that PKI will somehow incorperate theme from RuverTown into the new ride.. be it water coaster, 3d cinema, or hypercoaster. Just as long as the serienity/isolation of that area isnt broken. And as long as the Beast is surrounded by trees, Im happy.

Now there is metal fencing around the beast. Why would they put metal fencing up in the woods?
Just like i said before on the other post, it could be that someone fell and got hurt or it could be where the new midway is going to be. Those are my two guesses. I dont know yet, but if I find out through my contacts, then besides my page, this will be where I put it first.

I just want to let everybody know that i was there yesterday. I saw a what looked to be an acces road being dug under the Beasts lift and behind KCKC. There were also little sticks with orange paper tied through them all through the woods behind KCKC. Im guessing that the road would be to transport track from behind the Racer turnaround (thats where it went to) To the construction site. I noticed a lot of orange tape around a HUGE ravine.

After getting off the Beast I went to the allways reliable Lemon Fruit Chill type thing guy just for kicks and he said its going to be some sort of water ride. The one water ride that i think would fit would be a Water Coaster just like Buzzsaw Falls at Silver Dollar City.

Ill have tons of pics on my freinds site in the next few days.

Yeah, those lemon chill guys always know whats up!

RIP KCKC, 1973-2000. You will be missed :(
There's supposedly still another attraction at PKI for 2001 that is yet to be announced. And there are several hints around for the 2002 attraction(s). It is possible KCKC construction will start tomarrow(Monday). Head over to www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/forums/cgi/forum1.cgi and check it out. Also, the "Sit on it" sign with people flying out of their seats on The Beast seems to be missing(also on Racer).

If its going to be a water ride, than its probably going to be like Jurassic park the ride. Just my guess.

Well I'll add to this. I was at PKI yesterday. Yes, the access road has started and yes, it leads right to the KCKC lift. Nothing surprising here. On the other hand, there are now cable 'fences' on the low spots on the Beast; after 1st tunnel and before 2nd lift. Don't know what they exactly are. Probably safety rail extensions for workers since those sections of track are banked pretty well. Another possibility might be a deer crossing deterrant. These sections are pretty low to the ground. However, there would be no need for them to extend all the way up the 2nd hill.

The monorail closed because the wild animal preserve closed. And I think the reason the wild animal preserve closed was because Paramount didn't want to be in the zoo business...if I remember correctly, the first two things Paramount did when they took over were to close the safari and cancel Winterfest.

On Saturday, workers were repeatedly spotted on and around KCKC, but they didn't appear to be doing much. I also noticed from the train that the operations building next to KCKC's hydro-jump appeared to be dummy-locked.

There is another 2001 attraction which has been announced but hasn't opened yet, and that's the new ridefilm in the other half of the Action FX Theater, scheduled to open in June.

Who also wonders what the new fences on The Beast are for.
Yeah, i pointed those fences out a few days ago but nobody seemed to care. :(

I really have no idea what they are for either, but i really doubt they have much to do with the new ride, but maybe they do have something to do with the construction of the new ride.

Don't touch the watch.
What is the "hydro drop" on kckc? Also like I said before, I hope the new ride doesn't ruin the beast.
Ruining the Beast would suck and would kill one of the best coasters.

I think Dave is reffering to the speed bump at the bottom of the hill on KCKC. Most Arrow Hydorflumes (CP's White Water Landing, PKI's KCKC) have them. Are we on the same page here, Dave?

Yeah. At the bottom of the long drop on KCKC (and on White Water Landing at Cedar Point, Coal Cracker at Hersheypark, and other later flumes) there is a track designed to lift the boat out of the water so that instead of splashing the nose directly into the water, the boat rides on top and kind of hydroplanes. The boat loses less speed, looks more spectacular going past, and supposedly gives a somewhat more thrilling (albeit less drenching) ride. Ever 'skip' a flat stone across a pond? With the Hydro-Jump, the boat behaves a bit like that flat stone.

Ah hah...I've always wondered why the old Mill Race at CP got me more wet than White Water Landing when WWL is much taller and faster...Now I know...the hydro drop.

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
Could that explain why you always got wetter from WTRA`s 20 foot drop than KCKC drop that is about twice as tall?
