Coasting For Kids 2012

So far I am not sure if I will be able to attend the Worlds of Fun event, I am having trouble raising the required amount of money to get in this year. I hope I can get at least that extra $50 raised.

I finally got around to registering: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/bryan-bird/CedarPoint

I thought about asking people to donate to my friends who will actually be in attendance, but it seems people are more likely to donate to someone they know personally, so I decided to register as a virtual rider.

And of course, I joined Team Dopey Turtle. :)

As well as I had done the first 2 years raising money, I was unable to get many people to donate to someone else last year when I was not able to participate in the event.

Yep, a friend of mine did the same for me last year, and aside from himself, only one of the people he contacted donated to me. That's why I figured I'd get more response as a virtual rider.

Well, Dorney *STILL* hasn't posted their details...

(JEOPARDY! music..)

Kara e-mailed me that she's been doing her best to get them to do so...

Congratulations to Carrie on her (so far) Second place spot on fundraising at Dorney!

Here's my page, just in case anyone has some extra $ they wish to donate. Although I've surpassed my goal of $200, I'd like to raise as much as possible.

Thank you!

"I love the smell of roller coasters in the morning."

Well, Dorney finally posted their details. Looks like the only differences from last year are:

1. No breakfast scheduled. Waffle House in Bethlehem, here I come!

2. No group lunch. Appears each participant will receive a meal voucher.

Marathon is indeed on Steel Force. Hope they dedicate a train, because I can't make that walk more than a few times due to my breathing problems.

Perhaps there was an update since you saw it, Mike, because they have posted that there will be a breakfast during registration. They also are featuring that participants will receive ERT on Stinger in the morning, as well as preferred parking, fast lane, and discount admission tickets for friends and family.

Have I mentioned lately that Dorney is where it's at? ;)

Yeah, Carrie, I was just about to post that update. Awesome news! They just must have made those changes today, because yesterday it was status quo as in my previous post. Dorney's definitely where it's at. See you soon!

P.S..I'll probably still hit the Waffle House :)

We're right around $44K now. The pace seems to have picked back up. Hopefully we can have a nice month and out do last year. :-)

We're at $56k now. CP still leads with $12k, and to my great surprise, Dominion is in second place at $10k.

As of this morning, $56,633 total so far. You guys are amazing!

Just got cleared to go to Knott's...will I be seeing any buzzers there?

Cool! And over 3K of KD's total is one fellow.

Me, I've exceeded my goal. But that doesn't mean there's not still room on my train for any Buzzers who'd like to help me out :)

Last week GKTW had a red carpet premiere for our collection of new videos that I am excited to share with you all.

The first three are Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that give a general overview of GKTW:

90 second

60 second

30 second

Posting one of these PSAs on your Facebook page might help you drum up some support for your fundraising pages!

The last eight were made especially for our future guests, to show them what they can expect during their stay. Child actress Bailee Madison, a longtime friend of the Village, was happy to fly in and donate her talents. Check it out!

Excellent! Thanks for sharing those PSAs -- I've been wanting to include something like that in my appeals.

The shirts came in today.... check them out here on my stylish model!

Nice color. Now when someone throws up while marathoning, it'll match! (ducks from the slings and arrows to be "hurled" my way...)

J/K..I'll wear my 2XL with pride, Kara.

How long do we have to donate to this? If there's anything I like more than donating money to a good cause, it's chronic procrastination.

Hi

Jason Hammond's avatar

You can donate for months still. My page will be active until September 10th. I assume all will be. That being said, if you want the money to count toward a prize level for a participant, than I believe Friday June 8th would be the latest. it might be earlier than that.
