Coasters that dissapointed you

Wow, I thought there would be more people with the same answer as me but there weren't that many. I personally was completely let down by Alpengiest. I can honestly say that Wilde Maus gave me a bigger thrill. I went on Alpengiest in the wrong frame of mind though. I thought I would come off of it thinking it is the greatest coaster ever. I was expecting it to become my number 1. I think BaSSiSSt says it best in calling it anticapointment. Never go on a coaster expecting the hype people give it.

On the other hand, on the same day, Apollo's Chariot blew me away. I was expecting a ride somewhat similar to Raging Bull's fluffy air, but was pleasantly surprised by the sensation of being ripped out of my seat. From what I understand, the ride has been trimmed down since the beginning of the season 2001, but it remains my number one steel until I experience a different ride.

That I was dissapointed in...

Magnum: Flat out sucks, not fun at all. Its not worth a 10min line...

Medusa: Yea, the Gravity Roll is where its at, but the ride was slow paced, and just seems to cruise around, maybe im spoiled with the speed and pacing of BKF.

Lightning Racer: In no way is it a bad ride at all.. It was amazing, I was just surprised how smooth it was, which takes some of the fun away, I still love the ride however.

Beast: It seemed drawn out..

Batman The Ride: Yea its intense, but I didn't find the layout all that exciting. I fall for the bigger inverts alot more (Talon, Great Bear, etc..)

Rides that shocked me...

Wildcat: It was amazing, I heard stories of it being rough, but it was flat out brilliant. One of my top 3 woodies.

Great Bear: Heard about all the boring sections, but I didnt find any. It was just flat out an amazing ride... I dig the negative G's in the Immelman, and one of the best Grolls Id ever ridden... (3rd row, left side!!!)

Phoenix: I wasn't expecting much at all really, but I was laughing the whole ride, and it was a great time. I loved it, my #1 woodie.

Laser: Great time ;)

I'm gonna go ahead and see if Cedar Point will e-mail me the true number of trims on Magnum. I'm sick and tired of you two arguing about it, and I'd personally like to know myself. ;)

EDIT- I'd e-mail them if I could access the site. Seems like the CP website hasn't been working for me lately...

I am not much of a critic or anything, I like almost any coaster my butt and/or feet will fit into but there are a few that really dissapointed in:

Mean Streak CP, Ninja SFoG (needs new trains), Wicked Twister CP, and Mantis CP.

Coasters that I was surprised at:

Mindbender SFoG (very underrated), MF, Hulk, Georgia Scorcher, and Dueling Dragons.

Coasters that dissappointed me:

Steel Force (It wasn't bad, but I thought it could be better) and Grizzly at PKD (rough and it didn't impress me to much).

Coasters that surprised me:

Talon (compact and intense), Hercules (not as rough as some say, not a bad ride), FoF (great theming and launch), Hurler (awesome airtime), Mean Streak (Didn't think it was bad at all, I loved how it twisted in and out of itself), and Magnum XL (first hyper and favorite coaster, blew me away).

I'm going to add Mantis, because my stuff is always in agony when I ride it. Also; Superman: Ultimate Escape, MF has too many overbanks? How does one accomplish that? I think they are a great effect that reminds you how massive and smooth that ride is.

Dissappointed-
-Magnum...not fun after the first drop..rough.
-Mantis...ok coaster...not worth the lines it gets.

Suprised-
-Wicked Twister...blew me away. Just a no B.S. fun coaster...my current #4 coaster.
-Flight of Fear...wow. What a rush. My #2 coaster.
-Villain...nothing special about this ride...it's just awesome. My #3 coaster.

I'm shocked at how many people think some coasters bad. Nitro, Mantis, Raptor, wicked twister,MF,etc. are that bad? They all gave me a great ride when I rode them over 3 times. Damn Only coaster I think was bad was Steel Force in the front seat. The back was off the chain!

Rides that dissapointed me

I absolutely hated no loathed Texas Giant I don't know how golden tickets ever rated it as the no. 1 woodie. It had so many block brakes and I had many bruises from it I hated it. I think I like Scooby Doo Ghoster Coaster better.

I also thought Mindbender was pretty overrated because I mean it was a good little ride but nothing special I also didn't like the 2 hr. wait for it.

Rides I was suprised with

I was totally shocked at how awesome Daja Vu was it had horrible downtime as it broke down 6 times while I was in line but it was one of the most intense rides I've been on. It is my no. 3 steel.

I was also loved Mr. Freeze I thought it was great even with the OTSR it didn't hurt my ears at all I loved the float air at the top of the spike.

I also thought Kraken was great I have no idea why people don't like it. It wasn't intense infact I think I could have stayed on it all day and nopt gotten off. But it was just so smooth and sleek

I rode Magnum for the first time in 2001 and was surprised how much I liked it, but then in 2002, it became my #1 right in front of the Thunderbolt at Kennywood. Say that, there are god and bad rides on Magnum. The good make it your number 1 and the bad just leave the ride feeling painfull.

A rides that I only found so-so that people were raving about were at the same park: Flight of Fear (still rough w/lap bars) and Volcano (short with the biggest dissapointing part of a coaster ever, drop into brakes.)

We're back...

Mine are all the usual.

Magnum XL 200 which isn't even worthy of the top 25 coasters let alone #1, Mean Streak which is so slow it's sad and V2 I guesse, but mainly I'm speaking of Steel Venom. I'm sorry, but the amount of hype going around that coaster is too much. V2 is just not that much fun, Wicked Twister on the other hand is fun. I don't see why Valleyfair just didn't make SV with a backwards twist. It's not fair.

Mine are:

Raven....its boring

Mean Streak- THEY HAD A BRAKE ON THE DROP!!

Ninja Sf St. louis- HURTS YOUR HEAD!

------------------
Millenium Force- 1
Wicked Twister- 7
Magnum- 7
TTD- 0

Funny... Giant only has one block brake during the course. If you're talking about trims, it only has two. Besides, getting bruises from the ride is what makes it so great!

Am I really that shy?

Ya I meant trims..which I dont like.. and why would you want bruises?

The bruises Magnum's lap bar put on my legs were golden. Not to mention the first drop and hops pulled my pants down... that was a interesting on-ride picture.

We're back...

i went on mantis once and never thought about a second ride agai , it was too rough, and my ears from behind smashed into the shoulder restraints were very red and painful, it was a headbasher for me, and made for an unpleasent ride, other than that, no complaints on CP's coasters.

The King has spoken!

MarimbaGuy87: I don't annoy the park with your e-mails about stupid things the people in Guest Relations probably won't even know (or wherever e-mails go). You can clearly see there are six trims by watching any clear POV of the ride. I suggest "America's Greatest". E-mailing the park with annoying enthusiass questions are the reasons parks dislike enthusiasts.

-Nate

Well I just watched my footage of Magnum and it is in the trim section about as long as a B&M is... so it seems that the multiple brakes don't slow it down that much either. The braking in soft hard hard (sound wise) and so it does more of a smooth trim. I don't know what the significance in there being 6 brakes in the trim section is.

That's just BS. You can't tell how much a train is slowed down from watching POV footage! You can really only tell how much it slows the train down by feeling it (on ride) or by sitting there with a radar gun. All six grab as hard as any B&M trim - so that section of trims effectively slows the train *six times* as much as a B&M trim.

Not that I'm going to trust anyone who, above, lists Magnum as his favorite (there's a slight bias, no?).

Dissapointments:

SOB- OUCH!

Magnum- Rough and no Air-time

Orient Express- Looks cool but really hurts!

Mean Streak- Is there any speed, I almost didnt think we were gonna make it up the 2nd hill! Oh- its rough also.

Iron Wolf- A dissapointment in the back of the train, but was awesome in the front.

Shockwave- VERY bumpy and rough!, (need a helmet to ride)

Disaster Transport- Boring and short

-Coasters that I love!

Raging Bull- Awesome air-time

Incredible Hulk-Launch is great

MF- Can anything be any better?

Montu- Smooth, great speed, elements, and theming

Kumba- Kumba thing is best inversion EVER!
