Coaster Shows favor California Parks

I mean, you guys keep on comparing California to the entire midwest. It's one state for crying out loud, not an entire region.

Yeah, it's odd that they haven't made a show about the coasters in Louisiana... ;) The only problem I have with these shows are that it's the same coasters over and over again. Yeah, you can give me the crap about how it's for people to plan trips, blah. Think I care? About the only parks that get major spots on these shows are Cedar Point or some California park (usually SFMM). Usually these parts have the same clips from earlier shows. I would just like them to show some of the hidden gems spread throughout the USA who need the attention much more than any of the huge corporate parks.

...

Then you'd better produce your own show. As I said in the beginning, the "Travel" channel is promoting tourist destinations. Only an enthusiast would plan a vacation to Indiana.

Well California is a big state I am not saying every midwest coaster is great or better. I am try to say is they showed only the west but promoted it as coaster crazy which was bascilly the same show except diffenret dialgue I mean same people same footage. Maybe they should have said coaster of the west while promoting it and next week have coasters of the east or midwest you know?

Yeah, that's what I said. Then again, adding Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Idaho, and Arizona to the mix doesn't really help much at all. California has waaay more than all those states combined.

People complain about seeing the same coasters over and over again. I don't remember seeing Roar or PGA's Top Gun on any other coaster shows. This time, they pick and chose rides they thought most people would find enjoyable, not necessarily the big, bad high tech record breakers enthusiasts go for.

Here's a thought: What if they ever bothered to do a show that featured every coaster at every Six Flags park in Texas, and threw in the Great White and the Steel Eel at Sea World for good measure? What if they stopped promoting tourism in all the states that don't really NEED anymore help with tourism, like California and Florida, and actually started promoting toursim in the states that DO need help with toursim, like Texas? Do you think that it might help Texas to become a tourist destination too? Is that what you're all afraid of? Is that what THEY are afraid of? I have to agree that it's utterly ridiculous to do show after show about Cedar Point, Magic Mountain, Orlando/Tampa, and very few others from the same general regions, and call it a TRAVEL special, when the only "traveling" they do is to the same old places over and over again, like the summer "vacations" to the same destination every year that I used to loathe as a child. I mean, if you're gonna have a special channel for travelers, then why not show them some OTHER places that they might want to go, instead of the same two destinations that have been "THE" destinations for years? And don't they think that the people who live in California and Florida might want to see what's NOT in their own backyards for a change? Believe it or not, CA & FL are NOT paradise, they're just two sunny places like any other in the US during the summer months, except for the fact that only those two ever get HYPED TO FILTH, while the rest of the country is effectively ignored. And I expect that most people who live in CA & FL would really appreciate it if television would STOP attracting more and more outsiders to their own neighborhoods all the time! So, I suggest that we all write in to the producers of these tired old rerun shows and express our disgust with the way that they keep on trying to shovel the same old mainstream toursim fodder down our throats, while ignoring the great coasters of the rest of the country. If enough people were to write in and tell them that they've had ENOUGH of CA & FL like they're the only two places in the world, then maybe the people who do these shows would get the message that it's time to move on to the rest of the country, and let the people know that there are actually 48 more states in the union besides CA & FL! Who knows, maybe even Six Flags would finally figure out that they own a whole bunch of other parks besides Magic Mountain!

If you build it, they will come!

I live in Florida and I was born here. I think the reason they focus so much on California and Florida is because they do have a lot to offer and, heck, while your here go to a few theme parks. Florida doesnt have a lot of coaster parks, I can think of 2- IOA and BGT, which are about 2 hours apart.

Even though we don't have as many thrills as other places this is a tourist landmark. Disney has been here since the 70's- I know other parks have been around A LOT longer- but it's an institution! For many people around the world WDW or DL is their first theme park. So the Travel Channel knows this and I admit they beat the hell out of it- but people are interested in watching. They want to know what parks are worth their money and time.

I think it's safe to say that Travel Channel assumes the majority of people watching are from up North. How many people go to New Jersey or Ohio from Flordia? Other than the ones who have family I can't think of many. Sure, I would love to see shows on East Coast Coasters. I've seen ones on Kennywood and Cedar Point a lot.

Basically, I think the Network is just going on what they know- that CA and FL are the two tourist capitals. I'm not saying "My state is better than yours" believe me I've watched countless hours of coaster shows and drooled over Cedar Point, Knott's, and every Six Flags park they show.

You have to remember that people who are planning vacations don't know that this coaster sucks or this one is a crowd pleaser. They are going by what the Travel Channel shows them. The shows aren't meant for enthusiasts because then it would be a lot different.

SFGAdv's Medusa and SFMW's Medusa are not clones...they just share the same name. They feature different elements.

Okay peaple you all say goliath is not a clone? Not do you remember that tiny little six flags park in texas?JK Titan.Hello exactly alike except titans got the extra helix.Get your facts right peaple!JK its very easy to forget with all those coasters out there.

Aside from all this silly bickering...

I loved the comment my younger brother said about Paul Reuben:

"Isn't that man too old to be riding rollercoasters?"

:)

You knew me; I didn't know you; I knew you not. I met you, and I no more knew you not. Now I know you, I wish I knew you not. You wish you didn't not knew me not?

SFOT Rules, if it has the extra helix, it isn't a clone. Dolly the sheep was a clone. If Dolly's clone had 3 ears would it still be an exact clone?

Yes I'm 15, no I'm not childish, I'm not being sarcastic, well maybe I do have somewhat of an ego...

No. How can the original be the clone? Titan is technically the clone of Goliath. Not the other way around.

YOU get your facts straight.

Close enough. Then it's a clone with an extra arm or leg by some freak accident.

They're so similar you could ask any person out there that knows not that much about amusement parks if there were any differences and they probably couldn't tell you anything.
