Coaster Shows favor California Parks

Is it just me, or do a large majority of the coaster shows on TV seem to favor the California parks. For example, the Travel Channel 3 hour marathon tonight, at least the last 2 hours were about california coasters. Also, every other time I've seen one of those shows on TC, they're about California. I guess I would expect it to be a little more balanced, since there are many parks in the Midwest that have great coasters as well...

Any thoughts???

maybe because they have the most rides, and IMO best rides. But the more logical explanation is its closer to where the shows are made.

Since Jeff made Track Record a "perk" for CB members i'll just post my count here: Coasters:99 Parks:14

I thought it was kinda agrevating how they just kept showing the same rides over and over again. X and Goliath X and Goliath. They could of shown more of KBF and PGA coasters. They should go down to the Midwest and Florida for some other coasters.
How about the whole East coast?

84 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.

Yeah that too SFgadvMAN.;)
Well these coaster shows show west coast coasters because the title is west coast coasters. But they show those becuase it is cheaper for them too film out there instead of here in midwest. Im getting tired of seeing the same people over and over.
I turned it off after hour 2 , when I saw they were showing Superman, X, and Golitah AGAIN! Did Six Flags pay for the show to be made? Anyone, I was really hoping to see some Midwest action, a little Raging Bull, Beast, MF, WT, but no, they talked about Manttahan Express being a great coaster. All I could think was TOGO!

I know! I mean how many people think that SROS at SFNE kicks some major a@@ and I have yet to see it on a coaster show. The fact of the matter is that they aren't going to jump from park to park filming their BEST coaster when they can go to a huge park with lots of good coasters and make an entire show on the single park.

I got to say that I'm more fed up with Ghostrider than X or Goliath though.

Maybe the whole "roller coaster capitol of the world" has a thing to do with them favoring California Parks/Coasters. Coasters in California get rated high on the top ten year after year. There are a couple good coasters in the midwest, but there are A LOT of GREAT coasters in California.
I think it's always favored because of location (near almost all major TV studios) and quanity. Really, when I think of coasters out there, quality un-cloned rides I think of are... Goliath, Roar, Medusa, Ghost Rider, Xcelerator, and Riddler's Revenge. Yeah, there is X, the unreliable wonder... Collossus, the butchered beast, Revolution, a non-Schwarzkopf-style Schwarzkopf (shouldn't have OTSRs), and S:TE, the faster, taller, and simpler predesessor of impulses. When thinking of the midwest, you have Beast, Viper (SFGAm), Magnum, Raven, Millennium Force, Zeus, Legend, Racer, Cornball Express, Boss, Batman: Knight Flight, Villian, Wild Thing, and, if you consider it in the midwest, Mamba (lots of CCIs in the list, maybe California should invest in some :)). Too bad shows aren't made at Midwest parks. It is repeditive seeing SFMM, KBF, PGA, SFMW, and Santa Cruz Boardwalk over and over again... even with the occasional CP thrown in there. The only time we get non-CA and non-CP are on 'top 10' shows... once a year.

The DVD! (Deja Vu Defender)

I would think you guys would have gotten this by now but I guess not. The whole point of these shows is to promote tourism, hello? "The TRAVEL channel". California is a big tourist state, as are Florida and Ohio. These shows are not produced to be balanced or please enthusiasts. These are vacation tilted shows dressed up with some educational info.

I wish people would just watch these shows for entertainment and stop whining. I never hear anyone complaining about the "world's greatest beaches", or "best cruises", hymmmmmmmm...

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Yeah they sometimes give incorrect specifics on coasters, they show the same ones over and over, they don't do very good POV, sometimes the people they interview are boneheads, ect, ect. So what? The parks could care less as long as people show up. It's about money, just like everything else. We're just much too anal to realize this and move on.

Watch them for entertainment? It's torture watching them. Same parks, same shots. *yawn* Everytime I watch one, I need up turning it off before it ends.

There's only so much David Escalante I can take in three hours! ;) jk
I want to see an Ohio-Pennsylvania show. I might be biased as I live in Ohio close to the border, but I think they are #3 and #4 in the nation in coaster count. You could easily fit a show on these two states. Millenium Force, X-Flight, Beast, Son of Beast, Face-Off, Racer (coaster that revived the industry), Flight of Fear, Batman Knight Flight, Villan, Superman :Ultimate Escape, Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Mantis, Wicked Twister, Mean Streak, and Gemini. Then you have Phantom's Revenge, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit, Great Bear, Wildcat (HP), Exterminator, Lightining Racer, Superdooperlooper, Talon:Grip of Fear, Steel Force, and Leap the Dips! Excuse me if I missed any, but that list is amazing. You have almost every type in there, Launched, Impulse, Giga/Hyper coaster, Invertigo, Inverted, Stand-Up, Floorless, Wooden out and back, Wooden Twister, only figure-8 in the world and also the world's only racing/dueling coaster. Let Coasters of the Midwest come soon! :)

But yet you tune into them? Why? They haven't changed in the 5 years I have been watching them. Like I said, watch them for entertainment, if your not entertained by them, then your right, turn it off and let the people who they are MADE FOR watch them, people planning vacations.

"when I think of coasters out there, quality un-cloned rides I think of are... Goliath, Roar, Medusa,"
Madusa IS a clone..the first being built at SFGAD..
Batman: the Ride also a clone..there are NUMEROUS throughout the country..
What ticked me off was the show elaborating on SFMM being the park with the MOST coasters..CP STILL holds that record.
They also said that Desperado was the first Hyper..I thought Magnum was? So many descrepancies in these shows, I'll tell ya..
Disney's CALI Adventure having a top 10 coaster? Since WHEN?
I swear some of the people who are on these shows do some kind of drug..they are NOT coaster enthusiasts by far!

How many times did they show the Giant Dipper? I would like to ride that coaster but I didn't need to see it that many times. I'd rather see an hour long special just about X. It was the TRAVEL channel. They are just trying to promote tourism to those parks featured. I liked the feature on X the most.

If it's called "Coasters of the West", it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that that's what your going to get. ;)

That should have been the first clue that if you aren't interesting in these parks, then perhaps you should turn to Baseball Tonight.

I think people just search out things to whine about...
