Coaster Shows favor California Parks

Soggy's avatar
Leave it to a bunch of enthusiasts to find a way to NOT enjoy shows that are covering their hobby. So what if they are showing all West Coast rides, like others have mentioned, the title of the shows were "Coasters of the WEST." There has been PLENTY of coverage of other places.

And to CoasterMom, get the facts before you type.

Now, everyone come out to the West coast and spend all your money at SFMM, and ride X! (note sarcasim)

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

The marathon was called coaster craze or something and it only showed west parks? The MidWest has alot of really great coasters too more than Cali in my opnion They just talked and talked about the west coast and it was the same footage over and over and the same people. Calling ever coaster over there one of the best ever is an exagertaion.
Spoken by someone who STILL doesn't get it...

-----------------
"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

I get it but the thing was called coaster craze if they were only gonna show the west then they should have advertised the best of the west.
Well think about it a second. Most people don't subscribe to this "east vs west" crap that you guys do, certainly not tv programmers. To them a coaster is a coaster, regardless of location. Only enthusiasses get all territorial, like step-children.

It's very obvious to me that either alot of you haven't had Travel Channel very long, or have been watching it very long.

The shows featuring east coast parks have been long burnt out. How many times did that special with Drachen Fire run AFTER the ride had been closed. How many times did I see Hypersonic last season? How many times, for real now, have I seen MF on the tube? Dorney, Hershey, the small parks, those specials are old now, they're actually giving you something a little bit different now. Trust me, the shows of the past few years left the west coast out alot.

The morale of the story, if you turn on the TV, a 'Weast Coast Coaster' show comes on, if you become confused as to why you're seeing California coasters, you need to ask someone how to turn your TV off because you just may need that help.

Once again, they show all kinds of coaster shows, all times of the year, over & over for many years & then some sometimes. They have several channels that these reruns come on, it continues on & on.

BTW, I CANNOT wait until some of you complainers about people like David Esclante(?) rear your faces on TV.

Hehe... East Coast vs. West Coast. It's Biggie vs. Pac part 2. You East Coast people better watch yourselves when you come out to Cali cuz we just might put a cap in yo azz. haha j/k

Anyways, they actually showed footage of Roar East when talking about Roar West. It was on the part before the GCI guy got married on Giant Dipper.

Travel Channel isn't carried on the cable here. I actually watch it on a bootleg Dish. I never got to see the old stuff. There are only so many places you can talk about. Eventually, they will do repeats over and over again.

David Escalante isn't so bad. I don't mean to sound gay, but he's not that bad looking. Hey, some of those chicks they show are pretty cute. They aren't super duper fly, but still good to look at.

So, where exactly is the "weast coast?" Is that the midwest or the dirty south or something? =P

My sister was actually talking about how cute he was last night. She was like talking about how she wants to pinch that cute little face. It was enough to make me barf at Batman, no matter how good he made it sound. Next will have the gals fall in love with the bannana head on S:TE.

Maybe the whole "roller coaster capitol of the world" has a thing to do with them favoring California Parks/Coasters. Coasters in California get rated high on the top ten year after year. There are a couple good coasters in the midwest, but there are A LOT of GREAT coasters in California.

Yeah heck there's just a couple huh? I guess it's safe to assume you have never been to midwest amusement parks.Yeah maybe they got the most extreme prototype coasters but you wooden coasters could never hope to be what is in the midwestern parks. to bad.

Yeah the midwest has more wooden coasters but we've got Ghostrider and a couple other good ones too. too bad.

Madusa IS a clone..the first being built at SFGAD..
Batman: the Ride also a clone..there are NUMEROUS throughout the country..
What ticked me off was the show elaborating on SFMM being the park with the MOST coasters..CP STILL holds that record.
They also said that Desperado was the first Hyper..I thought Magnum was? So many descrepancies in these shows, I'll tell ya..
Disney's CALI Adventure having a top 10 coaster? Since WHEN?
I swear some of the people who are on these shows do some kind of drug..they are NOT coaster enthusiasts by far!

Medusa WEST is totally different from Medusa EAST.

They said Desperado was one of the first hyper coasters, which it was.

----------------------------------------------------------

The shows did not elaborate around Magic Mountain, Magic Mountain just had a lot more to offer. They did say that with the opening of X, Magic Mountain did have honor of being of the park with the most coasters. Which was true for a short time until Wicked Twister was not finished yet.

California Screamin' is golden and an awsome ride with three launches and great effects. It was one enthusiasts epinion that it was one of his top ten coaster which is totally understandable. I can go out and start saying the Maggie was in no way a top ten coaster and sound as bogus as you do.

Tonight was all about the West, and if you knew where the West was then you wouldn't be complainin' like crabgrass under the sun. Same with the 4 hour special they had on Florida parks, these two places are the two largest toursist destinations in the country and have two of the largest economies in the world alone.

-----------------------------------------------------

Again Goliath is a clone of what? EXACTLY!!!! NOTHING!!!!

Roar features differences from start to finsish and that came straight from Jeff and Mikes' mouths(Co-owners of GCI)

---------------------------------------------------------

This show was filmed before Xcellerator opened anyway Superdud1. IF you want Cedar Point, why didn't you watch the one hour special on nothing but Cedar Point and the one hour special about things to do in Ohio. They featured those shows back to back and I could of complained about not getting the rest of the world on those show too. David Escalante has been on over 200 coaster worldwide just so you know, and probably knows more about Superman than you could ever squeeze out. Talked to him while riding Roar at Marine World, he's a very smart person who knows what he's talking about.

------------------------------------------------------------

And yes Desperado has been clocked in at 90 mph before, notice they didn't say max, because it doesn't reach that everytime and rarely ever does.

------------------------------------------------------------

They should go down to the Midwest and Florida for some other coasters.

You guys are starting to sound like biggere fools than those coaster phobes and little Chelsey with her hair up and tall boots.

They just had a Florida marthon in June, you guys get mad over one night? These shows are reruns and tonight was about the West coast. Two weeks ago it was two hours of Euro Coaster King and Disneyland Paris.

The week before they did DisneyWorld, IoA, Seaworld, BGT, and Florida Vacations all in a row for 4 hours.

Before that it was an hour documentary on Cedar Point followed by an hour documentary on thing to do in Ohio. I could start saying that I could only take so much of Maggie and MForce, but I don't because what I wanted were coasters shows and that is what we got.

Before this was Thrills Chills and Spills Marathon which barely touched the west coast, so I could complain there. Ghostrider, V2, and Goliath were all they touched out here. The three shows consisted mainly of the midwest.

You guys act like these three show are all that they ever show, butthese three show are the only ones based solely on the west coast and in all the others, the west is barely touched.

By the way, X is operating now.

So, you are comparing the entire Midwest to just one state, huh? I would say the Midwest as a whole is a lot larger than the state of California. If you are just talking state by state basis in terms of rides, only Ohio and possibly Florida compare. Hey, California isn't just famous for its coasters. It is known the world over. Go to the far reaches of Europe or Asia, and say "California," and they will understand. Say "Ohio," and they will be like "WTF is that?!" Many people love us, many hate us, but everyone knows us.

In fact, I bet very few visitors who come here actually ride any coasters. Travel Channel is just showing that this wonderful state of ours has something to offer other than the regular touristy attractions.

I wish people would stop with the Florida coaster talk, you're making the parks think we have a lot of them....we really don't! SoCal alone has us completely outgunned - we have a few (maybe too many) Beemers, one good GCI, one good John Allen, and one totally under-rated CoasterWorks. Throw in the Dsney stuff, and we're done....and Florida is one BIG state, you could drive fifteen hours to get from the corner of NW FL to the Keys.....

"California, knows how to party....". Florida just knows how to cater to tourists better....;)

Hehe... is anyone living in Florida actually from there originally?

lets see MF, Raptor, WT, X Flight. Batman Night flight, magnum, mantis, Superman at woa, the beast, sob, the racer, the boss, Mr Feeze flight of fear, Raging Bull, Batmna the ride and many more are just some of the "couple good coasters in the midwest". Ohio's varietuy of coasters is just as good as california

OMG, quick, call 911 and send out a distress signal to the world! California has been featured in several coaster shows lately! Big deal. Man, this is exactly why I'm totally fed up with being an "enthusiast". Too much whining and too much drama! These are coasters people, nothing more, nothing less. There are far more important things to worry about than a darn coaster show. It isn't the end of the world you know. There will be more coaster shows, you can count on that. The only reason California has been so predominant in the coaster world lately is because of X, Deja Vu, Xcelerator, DCA and California Screamin, all of which are only a year old or newer. Not to mention that ACE had their coastercon here this year, plus there are a ton of parks to visit and see in the state. Give it a rest, please.

Since most people are complaining about
"Coaster Craze" focusing on the coasters of the west, I'm confused on why you're all complaining in the first place. I would think that you'd all want to see anything on coasters no matter where they're located, as well as, coasters that you don't get to see in person too often. Yes it's cool to see coasters from your home park but the shows are made to give people an idea of what type of coasters are out there and how they work. Now I, on the other hand, being from California wanted to see more coasters from anywhere else around the world since I can easily drive a few hours to see X, Goliath, or Ghostrider...etc.... From my point of view, I would like to know a little more about Cornball Express, or Expedition GeForce. Now I would think that people from the midwest or the east would like to see coasters that aren't from their area, like coasters on the west. But I don't know, whatever floats your boat.

There's a Mr.Freeze Flight of Fear? Raging Bull, Batman:The, and the Boss are all apart of the Midwest?

What is with this 6 to 1 state comparison. Do we get to use Mexico, Washington, and Western Canada in defense?
