Seven riders were injured today on Shoot the Rapids at Cedar Point after a boat rolled back down a lift hill. The riders were treated at the park's first aid center. Six were released, but one was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center for further evaluation, and later released.

I just had to share this awesome news report with you guys. Personally, I think the animation needed more flips, ending with a giant fiery explosion.
It needed to be a little less credible, because to a person who didn't know better, it's might not be apparent that that is satire. It is kind of funny though. I love how everyone holds up their hands when the boat drops.
So now I ask a serious question. Was the truth stretched when it was discussed that the passengers were underwater and in danger of drowning? That was the best part of the story. lol

If you look really carefully, you'll note that the video shows Snake River Falls, and the animation shows Shoot the Rapids boats on Snake River Falls.
NBC 25 (Saginaw, Michigan) actually posted the animation as part of a story with the headline "Dramatic animation shows Cedar Point accident that injures seven."
The article was removed after a fair amount of ridicule. :)

The video has been made private. I seriously thought that it was satire. Looks like it was juts crappy journalism instead.

Hilariously bad. I laugh every time.
Okay. That website really sucks, as far as journalism goes. These computer animated models are very misleading, and they don't seem to get the facts straight. Here is one that you probably won't laugh at, coaster related, and current.

The poor lady who fell out of the coaster screamed like a cartoon character. I think I am offended a little.

This is not funny. If what was portrayed happened, it would be horrifying.
I really don't think this is a joking matter. And I'm usually an offensively sarcastic and usually funny guy. But when it comes to this kind of thing, I don't even like to think about it.

That video makes roller coaster sound uncharacteristically dangerous.
^^Relax. No one is laughing at the accident itself, but at how awful, inaccurate, and dramatized that news report / animation was. The animation and footage was for Snake River Falls, the boat did not flip like that, riders were not submerged in water upside down, and while it was reported everyone was injured, no one actually was.
Just about everything was wrong. With the added cheesy animation, music, sound effects, and narration, I laughed every time I watched it as well. This is the perfect parody of news...no fact checking, exaggerated and dramatized....whip it together and feed it to the masses.
Yeah, I laughed too. The second video displayed the situation wrong, also. I confused because I didn't know if this was a real news program or not.
Well while we are at it here is another factually inaccurate report from Tomo regarding Texas Giant.
I'm sheriff of this here rollercoaster.
What made me laugh about the Shoot The Snakes video was the only thing they got right was the number of people in the boat -- who all cartoonishly flailed their arms in the air, Kermit the Frog style, as the boat descended.
The Texas Giant video goes meta, because not only is the video a gross misrepresentation, but it's an accurate representation of a grossly inaccurate "eyewitness" account.
