The last of which was Thunder Canyon in 1985 or 6...around 14 or 15 years before MF was built.

That pretty much means no wood, unless it's an Intamin prefab.
I dreamt I saw an Intamin prefab painted white..... 220ft tall...(tallest wood)
hmmmmm.......nah! I had honey bunches of oats right before going to bed. Gives me odd dreams
OK, last Twitter update says, "Two down...one to go."
Kings Dominion and Carrowinds both announced Nascar related coasters and we all know that Nascar started with whiskey runs during prohibition. So that fits with the theme they have presented so far.
Being that Intamin is still on the table I could see this being something like Rita - Queen of Speed, low to the ground, fast. But seeing as they already have two Intamins with launches I just don't know.
Intamin means job security for people who fix rides. A Cedar Fair person recently said that to me, and I laughed.
Is it really not that obvious what this is going to be?

I have been trying to find something sarcastically funny to say here but really, its just sad. B&M better come up with something new and AMAZING soon or we will never see any more of their products in the park : (
Well the obvious thing would be a flume but I thought a splash was off the table?

It's very obvious that its going to be an O.D Hopkins looping coaster. It's all there! There's nothing bolder, exciting, and refreshing out there that compares! And it fills the glaring hole in the ride lineup.
Not to mention that it'll be a dog of a ride ;)

It will actualy be an inverted wood coaster. First ever.

Eh. Considering how many coasters SF has (or, hasn't) been building lately I'm sure B&M is just pleased to still have CF as a regular customer, never mind which CF parks are getting the installs.

Well, in a way, but I think it has been deduced to two options; a flume ride, or a "dark" ride. I have seen nothing that would give creadance to one over the other (hint, clue, or conversation wise). Then again, it could be a combo of the two, which I think would be ideal.
I could be way off, but those options are what all the info has led me to assume [guess] is arriving.
i haven't read this thread much so excuse me if i'm asking an old question, but are we ruling out the possibility of another coaster at CP for 2010?

Bring on the Ohio version of KBF's Timber Mountain! :)
OhioStater: I really thought they might build a flume too. Though if the statement was true about not getting wet, I don't see how that's possible. I'm thinking more and more that it will be some sort of dark ride. Though Rideman's post on PointBuzz was pretty amusing/interesting. "Multi million Dollar renovation of Paddlewheel."
Jeff: I think most people have ruled it out.

It certainly is high time that a new dark ride came to Sandusky. Until recently, it seemed like such wishful thinking that I dared not hope. Now it sounds like there is a very real chance that this could happen. I don't even want/need a shooter. A pleasant ride with some decent theming will do.

"Decent themeing" and "Cedar Point" mix like oil & water.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!
Not if they pay someone else to install the theming. Then it's only a matter of watching said theming head slowly downhill over the ensuing seasons.

With bated breath, I would actually argue that CP has gotten better with theming the past few "installs". What they have figured out is that low-maintenence "light" theming (meaning no "animitronics" or sets that break down) can go a long way.
Look at Maverick and TTD: both have decent theming, but that theming requires little upkeep. Mav has some rocks and some other permanent theming (the hardest part being the tunnel lights and water cannons), while TTD simply has permanent theming built into its structure and the surrounding area.
In fact, I think most of the theming criticism stems from Disaster Transport; not that the criticism is not warranted for that ugly monstrosity, but other than DT there is not a heavily themed ride that has failed.
That said, I am still hopeful for a dark water ride. Not that I expect something of the caliber of POTC at Disney, but there is something relaxing and cool about a dark water ride.
