Cedar Point announces Wicked Twister and Snoopy Rocks on Ice

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Point announced this morning Wicked Twister, a 215-foot Intamin Impulse coaster that will reach 72 mph. This larger model will have twists in both spikes and go a full 450 degrees.

Meanwhile, the live entertainment portfolio will be expanded to include a new "Snoopy Rocks on Ice" show to cool of those hot summer days. The show will be performed in the "Good Time Theater," formerly known as the Cedar Point Cinema.

I think this is somewhat of a dissapointment.  I mean after Millenium Force you would think they would return with a better encore.  Oh well it still sounds fun.  But after all.  All coasters are fun to me.

OMG!  Remember how CP also said that they will add as much as they did in 2002 for 2003?  To me, this is the only real disapointment cuz this means they will probably add something that is unnessecery(sp?).  Really, right now they have every popular type of roller coaster but then again, how much did X cost??
Quail thanks for backing me up.

Danimales, perhaps you didn't think enough before you posted.  Even *if* WT has LIMs that don't need the required one minute cool down time(which they will) but assuming they didn't, it is IMPOSSIBLE(it doesn't matter what crew you have, they could be running and still not be able to do it...how HOT does it get in July? :)) to unload and load 32 riders and then check them in anything under a minute.  The cool-down period really is beside the point, because there will atleast be a 65-85 seconds downtime inbetween cycles just due to loading and unloading.  So you see it is irrelevant whether or not Intamin has changed their technology.  My only purpose in mentioning the required cool down time was to show you that by the design of the impulse rides, it was mathmatically impossible for WT to be dispatched 31.25 times in one hour, which would be required were 1000 people to ride in one hour.

Maybe now you understand. *done* heh

Yeah I'd have to say that I'm a little disapointed as well...

Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt in my mind it will be a fun ride, but c'mon.. An impulse? there's an impulse an hours drive away.. why not have a launched coaster like volcano if they wanted to hire intamin (minus the scenarey of course)

I dunno, maybe im just a spoiled B@stard.... but it just seems so.... so non- CP..

Wheres my "Ride that should be in every theme park"??? ie Ghostrider.
I was looking forward to a woodie more than a steel, and now that its -just- an impulse... sigh..

I would have preferred an full-circuit launched looper by Intamin. It would have been one of very few in the world. This will be a great ride, but with one an hour away, how will it increase attendance (even if it is slightly different)?
It's great that they will add a spiraling impulse coaster, but now they are just like SFWoA.  They need to get something in there that is totally new to the area, not just an improvement on an existing ride.
Who ever said Twisted Sisters... Good guess.  Now... You couldn't drag me to a SF park outside of SFMM, so I'll be happy as a pig in S#!! to be able to ride one of these puppies at CP.  Also, there were comments about woble...  If you look at the design, the vertical portion is taller and so are the supports.  As for capacity, this will only help shave off the crowd from MF.  Two tracks would have been a good idea, but from what I hear, the Knotts ride is costing near $20M, which explains why there is only one.  Do the math on what they expect to spend and you have to wonder if the $20M at Knott's is just for the ride as we all know it will be heavily themed.

Martling... I'm not so sure this is to increase attendance.  It's a nice twist to an older ride that again puts CP back on top.  It allows them to save money this year and spend more later.  SFMM can't do squat next year due to a lack of funds, so this gives them breathing room.
Every time I've been to SFWOA, there are only two ride ops checking restraints on S:UE, is it not reasonable to expect that CP will up that number, significantly reducing load times?
Mike, not really.  v2 at SFGAm has a minimum of 4 people checking the train, and 5 people on the platform.  The capacity still will not get any where near their projection.
i dunno. i think this is GREAT!! it's no MF or Maggie, sure, but i was VERY pleasantly surprised by V2 at SFGAm. i wasnt even planning on riding it, because it really looked like nothing much at all. then i rode it and WHAMMO i was in love!! it ALMOST made me forget my MF withdrawl for a minute. nice ride, smooth and FAST!!

all in all i think it's a FINE addition to CPs line-up. and it eliminates any need to go to SFGAm for me now...i'd rather drive to CP for 15 GREAT rides than go to SFGAm for 3 great ones and 9 mediocre ones.

oh is see . some of the same people who tried to deny superman as a coaster cause it is not a full circit are calling this a coaster.
Great, great news!!!!!!!   I only wish it could be 250ft.!!!!!!!!!!  But with its location on the beach right next to the lake it will be awesome!!!!!!!  It would be even better if one of the spikes came out a little over the water!!!!!!!!!!  That would be freaky at night!!!!!!!

"Airtime, how sweet it is!"

I am trying to get the videos to work for me but they wont Im I the only one with this problem because I dont think it is my computer since we just bought it (by the way Windows XP rocks)
The thing that surprised me most, was the price tag. A lot more then I would have expected, plus I am sure electricity costs are well up there :).
the problem here is all you idiots expect a millennium Force every damn year!!!!

Great job CP!!!!  Can't wait to ride it!!!

Nice! This is going to be on hell of a ride. Hope I can get out to Cedar Point this summer.

As we say here on the East Coast, "WICKED PISSA!"
Has Intamin ever looked at a dual-load system along the lines of Mr. Freeze?  Could it even be done with an Impulse?
