Cedar Point announces Wicked Twister and Snoopy Rocks on Ice

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Point announced this morning Wicked Twister, a 215-foot Intamin Impulse coaster that will reach 72 mph. This larger model will have twists in both spikes and go a full 450 degrees.

Meanwhile, the live entertainment portfolio will be expanded to include a new "Snoopy Rocks on Ice" show to cool of those hot summer days. The show will be performed in the "Good Time Theater," formerly known as the Cedar Point Cinema.

Awsome! Although the name doesn't strike me just yet, I am sure this will be great. Going backwards through the spiral will be perfect! I thought there was going to be more than one....

Look @ CP they said:
The train consists of 8 vehicles carrying 4 passengers each, 2 persons side by side for a total of 32 persons.

It looks like they found a way to boost compacity to Approximately 1000 riders per hour, compared to that compacity of V2 which is Approximately 900 riders per hour with a Single train with 7 cars. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 28 riders. Also, it's colors seem perfect for the location, and not the name. The colors are Teal supports with Sunburst Yellow track! Congratulations CP, keep standing tall with those *15* Coasters!

Well, I guess Superman:The Escape is a coaster after all! I must admit, I'm kinda sad to see the IMAX theatre go. It's the only one I've ever been able to go to. *** This post was edited by PointMan on 11/20/2001. ***
Nothing too surprising, except the name;). Should be a neat experience; now we just have 5 months of watching construction to look forward to!

I honestly thought I was the only one up when he posted this.

Sounds like a great addition to the park.  Wicked Twister... sounds like a wedgee.

LOL. Please take away lines for MF :)

My fellow Americans, let's roll!
I pray that I will never see a Six Flags Conneaut Lake
Thing you're not seeing Pointman is they never said S:UE or V2 wasnt' a coaster. Which is what this is goign to be a bigger version of. They still haven't relented on S:TE.

Two totally different rides. One is a reverse free-fall and that's it.

But it's pointless to argue.

Wicked! (Sorry, I had to do that. :)) I knew it wasn't long before a Double Spiral Impulse Coaster to come out & lo & behold!
I was realy hoping for a ThrustAir, Arrowbatic, or S&S.  It does sound like a great ride but, I can ride an impulse (and take the kids to the sea life shows and a water park) closer to home.  Seems like a no-brainer.
And Christ! It's 215 ft. tall!

Damn, THREE hypers at one park!

I thought it was gonna be like 275 feet tall..... now that would be cool looking straight down on that baby.  Anyway, a twisted spike on both ends is very cool.

sigh, SFNE goes "tiny" for 2001
Looks like I need to get back to the Point again :)
I see this as a somewhat let down for the point espesically after not adding anything in 2001.
The park owes you nothing.

Any letdown you're feeling is caused by the hype that you allowed to build up.  Some people are just impossible to please...

Personally, i think impulses are a lot of fun, and i suppose this one will step it up a notch.  The best thing about this, for me is that its fianlly revitalizing an area of the park that has been nearly dead for, what?  Nearly 10 years?  That's just the thing about Cedar Point.  Its so incredibly huge that there are a lot of rides and areas that the public doesn't even know about in a average day.  I suppose the lines won't be as long as they were for MF, but they will still be long, and as long as I can get my 10 or so rides in the morning on Maggie, I will be as happy as can be.  *warm fuzzy feeling*  :)

I LOVE SNOOPY!!!  Now I know I'll have to go back next summer!

I personally didn't care for SUE much.  It was OK once, but I never felt like doing it again.  Plus I preferred closer to the front to get the twist rather than the back to get the high point on the back part.

This does put an interesting spin though.  Now you'll get a similar ride in any seat (a big plus in my book).

Hahah, i just noticed my last post.  I can see it now:  Snoop on Ice!

Lights go down in the theatre.  Cue "Gin and Juice."  Lights come up and snoop skates out in ghetto pimp style with his posse, throwing up gang signs and harrasing the kids in the fron row.  What insues is an incredible journey through the wonderful world of South Central LA, sure to warm the hearts of every family, this season, only at Cedar Point!

Okay, ignore me.  :)

"Named Wicked Twister, this 215-foot-tall, 72-mph steel stunner will be Cedar Point’s 15th scream machine, breaking the park’s own world record for having more coasters than anywhere else on Earth."

How very interesting...

I'm a little disappointed.

I didn't say Cedar Point owes me anything... but this kind of leaves me a little disappointed.

I kind of thought that Cedar Point would have got a 300 + foot Impulse I guess for the sake that it's Cedar Point.

I also kind of thought that there would have been more than one because of the fact that it's Cedar Point, and the capacity for an Impulse isn't that great. Big deal if you can increase capacity by a mere 100 or so per hour. It's not much when lines can get up to 2hrs or so there.

I'm glad for the new additions, I'll admit that... but it kind of leaves me a little disappointed. I would have thought at the very least it'd be a double Impulse. Oh well... I'll take what I can get I guess
