Cedar Point announces Wicked Twister and Snoopy Rocks on Ice

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Point announced this morning Wicked Twister, a 215-foot Intamin Impulse coaster that will reach 72 mph. This larger model will have twists in both spikes and go a full 450 degrees.

Meanwhile, the live entertainment portfolio will be expanded to include a new "Snoopy Rocks on Ice" show to cool of those hot summer days. The show will be performed in the "Good Time Theater," formerly known as the Cedar Point Cinema.

Hell.................................

Yeah..................................

Time for another trip to Cedar Po!nt for me...maybe this time, my mother and sister will go with my father and I!

I actually like the name Fury better, but that's just me......IMO any ride addition is a good addition!

Take this for what's it worth.

From GTTP, commenting on Cedar Point's claim that SFMM's Superman is not a coaster:

Guide to The Point, regrettably, takes the stance that Superman is indeed a roller coaster. To not make that consideration would mean discounting rides like Six Flags Ohio's Superman: Ultimate Escape and Speed: The Ride in Las Vegas.

Granted, that's not Cedar Point saying that (though I swear someone over there said something about "full curcuit"), but it certainly was taken that way by some enthusiasts.

Not surprising, but not a letdown either. Let's just hope they get it ready for opening day.
The Snoopy on Ice show at Knott's Berry Farm is an *Excellent* show. 2 great additions that fans should be happy about.

I'm not real crazy about the name, nor the sudden silly justification of this being a coaster as opposed to S:TE just because one has a couple more launches, but it really rounds out the park's collection nicely. *** This post was edited by DWeaver on 11/20/2001. ***

How the hell do you expect a 300 ft Impulse! The speed would have to be nuts and the fact that your suspended would make the possitive and negative g's killer! Impuluses are amazing as is, and this is coming from someone who has only ridden without the back break. This one will be incredible!

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

DWeaver, I think the impulses do a little bit more than just launch. S:TE and the impulses are two totally different rides. Why people keep insisting they are the same are beyond me.

Dayuum, Your HOT!
They're not the same, but both do the same thing, they launch up spikes. How many times must a ride launch to be considered a coaster? Where is that rule book? It's just silly if you ask me, kinda like saying "my girlfriend has three breasts so she's more of a woman". Jeff is right, if you buy one as a coaster you kinda have to buy the other.

On the other hand, this ride to me is more impressive that S:TE or S:UE. Although it won't have the straight spike pause, the front and back seat riders will feel the twisting sensation. Awesome.

Cedar Point Americas Rock N Rollercoast!
The big news here is the 'Snoopy on Ice' show IMHO--CBaby and Da 'Midget will absolutely love it

But it also worries me, 'cause doesn't that leave VF with CF's only IMAX theater?  Why do I have the bad feeling that movie choices from here on out will really, really reek?  The last 2-3 years have been great (or at least right-hearted), but prior to that, it was a good place to take a nap.

I can see how the twist in the track (or double twist) of an Impulse coaster gives it the variety of motion to be called a coaster, something that Supeman the Escape doesn't have. It is kind of a grey area, but a Freefall just has one up and one down motion, in a straight line. That's why I consider S:TE a freefall and not a coaster. If S:TE is considered a coaster, then rides like Demon Drop must also be considered a coaster. Demon Drop is even a continous circuit ride with multiple blocks!
I agree w/ you coasta playa, we've done the launching twist thing(not that it won't be fun), the Snoopy show will ROCK. This is the type of attraction that will bring out families in droves! Just ask KBF, standing room only for EVERY show. And the peanuts gang pre-show will bring back all sorts of memories for the adults as well.

it must makes me happier to have a season pass for 2002.

now if i only could have been allowed to validate it in the 2001 season...

Do you really think they could build that much higher? That spike wobbles enough as it is :-P

300+ feet seems a bit tall and strenuous (sp?) for the track.. I am sure they could design is differently, but still.

I'll be looking forward to it next year :)

Lights go down in the theatre. Cue "Gin and Juice." Lights come up and snoop skates out in ghetto pimp style with his posse, throwing up gang signs and harrasing the kids in the fron row. What insues is an incredible journey through the wonderful world of South Central LA, sure to warm the hearts of every family, this season, only at Cedar Point

Ha ha...whatever!!
Now that the announcement is made the blasted speculation will end. Now if SFog would just hurry up!

This is going to be a good ride. NOTICE: The ride cycle will launch you 5 (FIVE) times!

The "ONLY" disappointment I feel here (and you can disaggree with me all you want) is how they could have built a second track to really boost capacity. This thing is going to have a 2-4 hour wait.

which is why you won't find me in line for it. ;)

everything's better with a banjo

Now is it me or does this only go 2 miles an hour faster than SUE and is only 35 feet taller than it. I'm not complaining but I'm only going 35 feet more and 2 miles an hour faster is not much, however the 450 degree spin sounds fun  and dual rotating spikes sounds fun. Ive got a question about the dual spikes, I like the feeling you get coming straight down off the straight spike at SUE, but with this one you will be coming down in a spin which should not be as fast as coming straight down, will it be slower coming off the spin.
