Cedar Point announced this morning Top Thrill Dragster, the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world. The Intamin "rocket coaster," which has been under construction for months, is 420 feet tall and launches riders 120 mph in four seconds.

Remember the amount of space after the Tophat, Dingo. That is easily enough space for 6 trains. I'll admit though, I was thinking no more than 1-3 trains. This will be AWESOME!!!!

those trains are the most unbelievably awesome thing i have ever seen on a coaster!!!

man what wouldnt i give to be across the pond!!

Gator: Did they not let you wear glassses even with a strap on Xcellerator?

To all: I see from the animation that we will launch outside of the station.....good. Are there two seperate station positions, load and unload? (Sorry if I missed that)

Also, the two "things" on each catwalk on the animation. SOmeone speculated they will be racing lights. I suppose they could also be for night lighting. Any other thoughts? Anything for sure?

When I was on Xcelerator earlier this summer (early July), they wouldn't let me wear my glasses, even with a strap.

With respect to TTD (sure, why not?), I'm surprised they went with the single row cars for the theming instead of the extra capacity. Could the launch perform just as well with 20 instead of 16 person cars? I mean, that's a 25% increase.

Dingo65, Knott's didn't have as much room as CP did. As such, Xcelerator's station is not nearly as large as TTD's. It can only fit one train at a time in there. There is no room for the trains to launch from outside of the station. That eliminates another block.

Even so, Xcelerator seems to do just fine with its two trains, though its hard to argue against having 6.

On the topic of having 6 trains, the only other single-tracked ride to have 6 I think is California Screamin', and that ride has over 5000 feet of track! That makes TTD even more impressive to me.

California Screamin- it's good! *** This post was edited by CoasterFanMatt on 1/9/2003. ***

Time for contacts if you can wear them. Take some drops though b/c I imagine they are going to dry out pretty fast - if you can keep your eyes open!
Is there going to be enough to room to take off all the trains into a storage track? Or is there just going to be enough to room for like 4.

The cleveland browns suck, if its brown flush it down, Go Bengals!

Anybody save any of this since the site obviously went over bandwidth? I really wanna see these trains and/or the animation.

Well if they do make you take off your glasses, all it would take is a dragonfly in the eye. Then again, they'd probably install a windshield before they changed a rule like that.

Anyway, if any of you wanted to know what a full-on hurricane feels like, you'll be able to in 2003!

BTW, haave anybody seen pictures of soda straws in telephone poles after a tornado? Imagine a gust of wind picking up a bunch from a nearby lemon chill stand.... ;)

Any word on the height requirement? I know Xcelerator is 52". If my daughter can't ride I won't be making the 21 hour drive from Miami.

What about bandanas? I always wear them when I ride and have never had to remove it(except at Wild Adventures on the Boomerang).

Peabody inquired: "Gator: Did they not let you wear glassses even with a strap on Xcellerator?"

That is correct. The ONLY other time I've seen someone wearing Croakies who was forced to remove them was on S:RoS at SFA. A guy on the train in front of us was told to remove them....I'm sorry, the "strap rule" should apply at all times. If I can be shaken by *the schoolyard bully* that is a TopSpin and keep my glasses, then I *should* be allowed to assume the risk on any coaster. I suppose I *could* get Lasik or wear contacts, but I look just SO cool with my glasses...;)

The website is not working for me! I can't see the trains!

Great Job Cedar Point, once again proving its dominance in the roller coaster industry.

I agree with you about the bengals Coaster Freak 08, The Bengals are absolutely pathetic! You could go back to the Paul Brown days but that is in the past man!

OK, now this may be a stretch but I have the ground shot view of the ride illustration on my desktop and I have to say it looks very phallic. Could this be part of the competition between them and Magic Mountain? ;)

"Sorry folks, park's closed. The moose out front should've told you."

After looking up phallic, I agree, but that's horrible KickTheSky. Someone's mind is in the gutter.

Well I liked how CP rubbed it into SFMM's face in the stats: "The worlds first 400 ft coaster EVER!!"

haha looks like superman just got hit with a CP guided missile!

Wow. That's about all I can say right now...wow. Cedar Point never ceases to amaze me, and methinks now I'm going to try extra hard to work in a trip out there this summer...this is just absolutely monumental, and I hope all the naysayers are now sitting here, like me, with their jaws on the floors.

Oh July, why must you still be forever away...? :)

Being a former CP Op six trian's and that of short ride time is going to be alot of work, hopefully there will be at least 3 Ops on each side of the train, like Wicked Twister.

I doubt with CP capacity concerns, you will be allowed to wait for the seat you want. You proably wont even be able to wait for the front, just like Millenium the first two years you will load by train.

Themeing finally returns to CP, hopefully they will keep it up and not allow it to fall in to disarray like Distater Transport.(I really do miss the talking robot and the orange uniforms, I rember it feeling very Disney esque in 91, now look at it)

Only thing that bothers me is "Top Thrill" sounds very cheesy, hopefully over time it will fall away like XL-200.
