Cedar Point '07 Project

I'm thinking they are going to set the inversion record and get it back.

Bigger Colossus from Thorpe.

Sorry if this has been covered. Didn't have time to the read the 50 prior pages.

Thanks,
DMC

Well, if they want the record they need to have an 11 inversion coaster, that's not going to happen, if you look at the track, and projected track plan.

No they will need a 15 inversion coaster, as the 4-d in Japan is the new inversion record holder with 14....even though this seems to be a debatable topic, they claim the title with 14.
I don't get it. Why MUST Cedar Point break a record with this coaster? It's something new for the park, and by starting it during this season is genius, as there's a lot of buzz in the park.

My point is, why break a record this time? Why not deliver a good, high-quality thrill ride?

Well if they're going to claim the inversion title just because the seats flip, then I think Coney Island might have them all beat with their Top Spin. ;)

I didn't count it. That's cheating, isn't it the exact same thing as X?

I'm starting to trust m No limits picture more and more, as, i'm recognizing track features, from the construction sites, and fan sites. But i'm going there tomorrow night, so i'll look at it. *** Edited 8/24/2006 1:55:41 PM UTC by BANDandDCI***

That layout someone posted is obviously not real, there is not one single inversion in it.
If you're talking about the No limits one, there's a zero G roll in it, that's all I know there is.

No one said for fact this will be a record breaker. It's all speculation right now and the people on here that actually do know aren't gonna say too much. Nothing is official until the announcement so don't get your panties in a bunch just yet. ;)

After watching all this track go up, my guess is for the wingwalker. All of the elements so far, including the inversion would be pretty ho-hum (except for that camel back) with a traditional train, but throw a wingwalker train on there which would accentuate those quick transistions in that twister section and you've got some excitement on your hands. I could even imagine that you'd get some airtime banking from side to side like that, depending on which side of the train you were on.
Not a "wingwalker." Have you seen the track in person and see how it won't make clearances?

An interesting observation posed by Rideman over on Pointbuzz was that he doesn't think that there's even enough room for 2-across seating in some places. He's voting inline seating.

While I disagree with Mr. Althoff on that one, he does have a point- it's gonna be tight.

Where is the zero-g roll in that layout? The green line you see is the heartline. The heartline on that layout is above the entire track. The inversion on the real P07 is right after a turn after or before the hill that is constructed, in that layout, they have a small hill in that location.

I didn't notice any clearance issues in looking at the track that i have seen go up.

Which thread was this discussed in over at pointbuzz? I'll check it out.

I said it before, mechanical bulls on a track. ;)

WOO!!!

I think that's be AWESOME!

It'd be a crotch buster, but it'll be fun.

Powder Keg + inversion(s) = Maverick. Well, at least I was half-right with the Powder Keg thing. :)

It may not be an inversion-record-breaker but I bet it will have more than a couple of loops. *** Edited 8/24/2006 10:08:27 PM UTC by DantheCoasterman***
Maybe for the entire ride the trains will be put in reverse direction.

Ahh, I'm going to have to go ahead and ask you to come in on Sunday, too...

Has anyone noticed the "Mystery" wallpaper on CP's website extra point page? Go ahead, tease us some more why don't you...
