It is funny reading all the guesses. Some people are still insisting it's anything but an Intamin. lolI must say that if this ride is what I've heard it is, all you CP fanatics can rest easy. But it's not quite enough to get me back to that park...yet.
Thank you!!!
No, I said enthusiasts will probably be disappointed.

This further supports a setpoint 'roller soaker' or a ride of similar nature. I don't think enthusiasts would be disappointed with an aquatrax (aside from those who think anything under 500 feet is a disappointment).
I personally think such a family-oriented ride would be a great addition to CP.
Nothing makes money like a child seeing a new toy on TV and going "I want that!", and without a doubt something like this would be a HUGE family draw.

I am about as sure as sure can be that his original comment included the phrase "all of us". Though, given this latest comment, it doesn't matter much if that is indeed what he originally said. *** Edited 5/9/2006 2:22:21 PM UTC by djDaemon***

If Gemini were built today enthusiasts would be disappointed.
We have people claiming here that Gemini is a family oriented ride.
I mean, the coaster isn't exactly the most hard core thrill ride, but its still a major coaster with a 118 ft. drop and speeds of 60 mph.
In many parks Gemini would still be a headliner type ride.
I think what the conversation is boiling down to is that it isn't maybe a lack of family oriented rides, its just that in the past 10 or 15 years there hasn't been much of an upgrade in that department.
Exactly. I've said this before, but it bears repeating. No one else in my family has ridden anything installed in CP in the last six years either because they aren't tall enough, or the ride is too intimidating. Skyhawk might be different, we'll have to see.
This, coming from a family that has had season passes to CP for four years running. The ice show is the only thing added in that period that my family, as a family, as seen, and frankly that's pretty good. The rest of the shows are okay, and better than your average amusement park, but all pretty much the same thing: 10 shortened high-energy song-and-dance numbers with six costume changes. The songs, costumes and "plot" change from time to time, but not the form.
I'm hoping that enthusiasts will be disappointed, because that might mean that the new project includes something that my five year old likes---and let me tell you, he's pretty disappointed that the flume is gone.
Even before I had a family I enjoyed breaking up the pace with a lap on a flume, choo-choo, or monorail. Heck, I'd never step foot in Disneyland if craziness was all I was looking for.

Maybe Jeff is talking about the Merry Go Round enthusiasts that are hoping for the worlds tallest & fastest Merry Go Round on the planet.
The only thing that really fits the bill is an aquatrax or mack water coaster, but both of those require a decent amount of theming to pull off and that isn't exactly CP's forte.
While it isn't a roller soaker, I do think that a setpoint coaster would be an excellent addition to any park if they are looking to bring in more families.

Not really. I see no reason why a nice water coaster would need any more theming than what the water ride there previously had.
Not that CP doesn't have the means of the know-how to nicely theme a ride. Given their history, though, I know what you mean. *** Edited 5/9/2006 3:08:53 PM UTC by matt.***

The March 16 entry on the Re-imagineering blog had some interesting points to make about this very subject. Good read.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
