Wow. Post deletion. Haven't seen that in a while.

Yeah, that kinda blew my mind for a second there. But whatevs, you were in the right.

Here's my question - there was that theory a while back that because project '07 was so far in the back of the park, it *had* to be tall so people could see it (or else people wouldn't ride it or something.)

I don't think anyone really took it seriously but if it really is going to max out in the 107' range, I know it's not going to be easily visible from many points in the park. I'm guessing that it won't really be very visible from the front gate as well, no?

Yes, but who will really care if they can't see it from outside the front gate? This ride is going to be a lot of fun and that is all that really matters.

Can hardly wait for a POV video. Is Badnitrus doing it, does anyone know? (or whatever he calls his company now).

^The only ride you can see from the front gates is Blue Streak.
^On the causeway though you can see Raptor, MF, Mantis, Magnum, MS, BS, WT, and DT (missing any others?)

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

Hotel guests will get a great view :)

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

^^ I remeber seeing Demon Drop from the front gates:| Hmm..

While that's an inaccurate description of the theory (and seems well suited to your position on the matter ;)), you are correct about the discussion, which is right here (7th post down is where it starts).

Ok, so your arguement before was that the ride had to be tall because people would ride it in it's first years, but in later years it's lack of visibility would hurt ridership, or at the very least, not *help* ridership. I'm sorry but it's clear there's never been a correlation between a ride's distance from the front gate and that ride's maximum height at any park. Like I said before it may be something a park would consider somewhere way down the list but there's much more important things figuring into a ride's maximum height.

Fortunately, though, the argument is now a moot point considering that we now know the ride is going to be (relatively) small anyway. However I DO find the discussion interesting because even though we're out of a Disney park, I still think general park design and planning is pretty interesting, especially considering sight lines and such.

Just looking at some pictures the ride really won't be any more visible than Snake River Falls, i.e., not very. SRF is about 80' tall and Maverick should be about 20' to 30' taller than that but still further back in the park. Should be interesting to see what Maverick's impact on the park's crowds and traffic flow is going to be considering unlike many new coasters at CP, the visual impact on *most* of the park is going to be pretty minimal. *** Edited 9/6/2006 11:53:42 AM UTC by matt.***

Actually, my argument was not necessarily that it "had" to be tall. My argument was that if CP were considering installing an attraction, sight lines would be a consideration. For instance, if CP had two rides with a similar footprint that could both fit where P07 is (and provided they also had another similarly sized plot elsewhere in the park), they would want to install the taller one in FT, provided there were no other pertinent things to consider, such as theme, etc. I wasn't implying that the overall height would be dictated by the location, but rather that its location may be dictated by its height (among other things, obviously), as you said, although that consideration would be "down the list".

But, you're right - its moot at this point.

Right, and while that was *your* arugment, there were other people involved, including those who thought they could predict the height of the ride as if there was some sort of distance from front gate/ride height ratio. *** Edited 9/6/2006 11:56:23 AM UTC by matt.***
Oh, I see. Yeah, the formula may prove true, y'know. I mean, that artist's rendering was quite obviously a red herring thrown out by the CP special agents to keep us off of the scent of their "real" plan. And we all know what the "real" plan is... a multi record-breaker!!!!1!!1!1!!!11 Muahahahaha!!!

Sure you can see all the rides from the causeway. The causeway is not the front gate. If you are standing in front of the front gate, Blue Streak is the only coaster you can see.
Does this mean MF and TTD are not appealing to people because they cannot see them from the front gate? Of course not. I think Maverick will be a welcome addition, and it should be visible from the causeway because pretty much anything over 80ft or so is visible.
I haven't been there yet this year, but as far as visibility goes, can you see Skyhawk from anywhere other than Frontier Town?

Hmmm. It's been almost 24 hours, and no one has mentioned that the supports for the end of the 'lift' hill appear to be in place. Or could that be for the bunny hop coming back off of the lake? It's kind of hard to tell by the webcam angle.

Yea, I find it ironic as well, especially since everyone got on me for using chat short hand, when I didn't. But i'm not worried about it at all. You obviously can't get passed the fact that i'm right this time. You'll bring up the grammer issues from a while ago, but it doesn't matter, i'm surprised at the time I was able to reply. And yes, I may not be the english major, but i know my french.

OK I know I'm late but this annoys me. We are in America take your French to France and Canada and Take the Spanish back to Spain and Mexico. This is an English Forum in America. We use the American Language. So the french definition is not needed we all knew what he meant. Knowing the French definition is nice but is no good in the English Language. Take it else where Please.

Wait, i'm confused, do we speak American, or English, or is it Ignorant American. I can never remember.

Back to the coaster...

It looks fun, but is still think i would have liked something like Lotteworld has.
