ME TOO!!!
^ random. yes?

I know I can't wait until I get my job there next summer. But if the lift is going to have a launch, I wouldn't expect a lot speed-wise. Hulf was able to do it, because of the inversion, and they good ease you into the drop from the inversion. This coaster would whip you over the top.

The lift hill will be just that... a lift hill that uses LSMs instead of a chain/cable. Just from the looks of it, if there was to be a 'launch' up the hill like Hulk at IoA, the forces on riders would be much too great with a 95 degree drop. Riders could easily pull at least -3 Gs, which could easily cause shoulder damage with OSTRs.

I believe that a steady LSM lift a la California Screamin' is a no-brainer.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the lift actually slowed down just before the drop.

Here's two records it could take. 1.) Longest, double launching coaster - 2 LSM, and 2.) longest, tallest Intamin Ball coaster, 1st of it's kind, etc.. If it's 3 cars long, holds 12 riders, then that's 3 four seater ball coaster cars.

Awwwhh, poor little Cedar Point fanboy grasping at any kind of record for a ride that has none.

Barry Short- the SoCal, Ohio coaster enthusiast from Virginia who now lives in Florida.

Not to criticize or anything, but "a la" wasn't used correctly. I know it's understood, it's just instead of "a la"(at the) use "comme la"(like/as the). French trivia brought to you daily at 5.

But if the LSMs were to slow you down, I think it should pull a hang over move, like the diving coasters. Then accelerate you down the hill, that would be fun. Instead of dropping to 45 mph, you drop to 70+, now that's something that CP can put on a banner.

Meh, I never have been a fan of words... numbers are my thing. ;-)

Don't sweat it, whoeverknew - you're actually correct.

BANDandDCI's translation is much too literal - the kind of crap translating most online tools do.

à la means 'in the manner of' (and Merriam-Webster approves :) )

4 days till we find out what the coaster looks like ....announced on the CP website. ^_^
I don't think they are going to there it as much as it shows in the picture.

Edit: Change there to theme.;) Sorry but it was really late at night.

Top Three Parks: 1) Islands of Adventure 2) Bucsh Gardens Europe 3) Six Flags Magic Mountain
^Huh? I know it's 2AM, but I can't make any sense of that! I'm sure CP is going to spill all the beans and show design photos of Maverick, theming, trains, etc. on Sep 7th. It's going to be interesting to see how correct Screamscape was. By the looks of the footers not used so far, I think they have it near dead on.

The thing I want to see is the trains! I hope there are no OTSRs, but if there is (most likely :( ) I hope they are more comfortable than Stormrunner's.

TWISTer

So, i'm too literal after taking french in HS for 4 years. And you looked at a thesaurus, which gives you a better understanding of words but not the definition.

As for the restraints, I'd like just the T bar.

DawgByte II's avatar
Restraints for a looping coaster of this nature, of which consists of not a straight loop, but more of a corkscrew HAS to have some kind of shoulder restraint. Don't count on a T-bar, don't even hold your breath for a second... it will be shoulder-restraints, plain & simple... and I wouldn't count on a "new concept"... vs what's already been used on Rita & Stormrunner.

The Screamscape photo won't be "nearly" identical to the finished product... it WILL be the finished product. Plain & simple... it was a leaked concept photo from an unknown source.

I'm just anxious on the official announcement for all the other goodies that'll be released.

AND... I'd like to be the first to buy the new Maverick T-Shirts! :) Problem is that I don't think they'll be selling them on-line before the beginning of the '07 season (unless they sell them at during the Halloween fest since the cat's outta the bag!).

Hmmm. I guess 'thesaurus' must be a french word; I thought I understood its definition too. *** Edited 9/3/2006 1:12:53 PM UTC by Mister Halo***

B&D: yes, you are too literal, because a la is an English usage, not a French one. It would be improper French, but is perfectly correct English. That's why Gonch used an English reference for it. English is rather famous for stealing words and phrases from other languages, and then using them "incorrectly."

And that reference is called a "dictionary", not a "thesaurus".

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=a+la&x=0&y=0

..and luckily we do have more then one dictionary online, too!

And here I was thinking I was the only person in the world who could have taken four years of french in high school...and two years of latin...and another two of french in college.... *** Edited 9/3/2006 1:13:38 PM UTC by matt.***

I can't wait to see the heart-line go up. I've never experienced one........well unless you count those *things* on the SLC's that just hurt.

Raptor has a heart line.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

matt.'s avatar
If the heatline or zero-g roll on Maverick is anything like the ones on other Intamin sit down coasters it's going to be much different from the element that sometimes takes the same name on B&M coasters. The only B&M that I can think of that has a similar element is really the Jojo roll on Hydra.
