CCI closes its doors

Amusement Business reports that Custom Coasters Intl. has ceased operations, the owner citing personal reasons.

Two.. and one is being auctioned. Does that constitute a trend? Don't get paranoid. :)

This is really crappy. I am about to cry! I really hope that maybe in a few months they will open their doors again. This is really a very sad sad thing. At least they have left a very good mark on the coaster world.

And CCI represented the possibility that every park, no matter how small, could afford a unique roller coaster of its own.

Perhaps that is part of where CCI ran into trouble at.

They will be missed greatly. It's always sad to see a coaster company go under, especially one that has brought us so many great coasters. Atleast we have the coasters to remember them by.

How both of my favorite companies are dying is beyond me. I'll never stop supporting them, and will always appreciate the unique thrills that both have brought to the industry. Of course, Arrow isn't 100% dead, so there's a little bit of hope.....I just never thought CCI would fold, especially for some of the reasons mentioned. They brought me my favorite coaster in the world, and I will be forever grateful.

Look at it this way peaple there are many CCIs out there and you'll have all the time in the world to enjoy there wonderful peices of work. Its not like there taking all of there coasters in exsistence out.And we all know that a new company will come around and even things out.So look at the bright side of things and keep you heads held high.
I'm sorry, but i cant really say that i care all that much. I got sick of everyone saying that whenever there would be a new coaster going in somewhere, "It's a CCI" or "I hope they get a CCI." It just got on my nerves. They are decent coasters, but i guess in order to see how good everyone says they are I would have to go to Holiday World. But, my opinion right now stands as, they are ok, but not great.

This thread is about some great people who will be sorely missed....not any small-minded attention seekers.

CCI built the best. Period. Of course people would hope for CCIs. There's no better air out there. They could do things with mere 70 foot drops that no massive, gleaming mound of steel could match at any height.

Thank you for so many memorable experiences...where do I start? The infamous twisting 'trench drop' of Cyclops? Boulder Dash's lift and first drop? ST's helix finale? The violent, knee-banging air of Cornball Express after dark? Or the whole new set of sensations courtesy of LoCoSuMo?

I continue to be impressed and amazed. Who could possibly fill their shoes?

Then you need to ride Legend, Raven, and Shivering Timbers, DragonsIOA.

This is terrible news. Well at least they have left a legacy of great rides. Also, the market for these great inexpensive woodies is still there...they didn't close for lack of business it seems. Let's just hope someone picks up and runs with it.

Very sad news.

I was hoping that Cedar Point would get a CCI sometime in the future. Guess that is never going to happen :(

I still want a woodie at BGW...That would round out their coasters. CCI come back!

So who's going to step in for buidling wooden coasters in the future? Is it going to be GCI?

Phyter: don't just think its the United States ride companies having trouble, look a Caripro, look at Vekoma, look at Zierrer.

Face it, its a tough market for the amusement industry dollar right now, and therefore the industry can't support as many suppliers as it once did.

Yes, but as stated earlier, the amusement business is quite small. How many American roller coaster manufacturers are there?? Very, very few. CCI has built the overwhelming majority of wood coasters in the past 5 years. Yes GCI has built a few great coasters. But really, how many coasters has RCCA built recently. Not very many.

Woah, I would of never expected CCI to just... leave. Sad Day.

*pinch pinch* OW! CRAP!!!! It's not a dream. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! This was the last thing I saw coming from CCI.

I was hoping so bad that CP would make room for a CCI. Oh well, at least their employees are still there. But why are they closing their doors? SF didn't put them outta business too did they?
