Canadas Wonderland 2008 B&M Rumor!!!

"Wilde Beast is a clone? Where is there a similar ride?"

Wild Beast... or Wilde Beast as it was once called... is a near replica of the Wildcat at Cincinnati's Coney Island. (Demolished in 1964) It was built for Canada's Wonderland in 1980. (opened in '81)

Grizzly at KD (1982), Grizzly at GA in California (1986), and the (former) Bush Beast at Autralia's Wonderland (1985) followed, and are all what I'd consider "clones" of the CW version.

Wow I never thought about that before. PGA Grizzly and Wild beast share similar inspiration, but are very, very different rides. They are a concept mirror image of each other and very different element transitions.

Wild Beast is always a fun, quick ride. Lots of air time pops in the front. PGA Grizzly is not fun at all, painfully rattles fillings, has no air and loudly ceeps around the circuit like it's got a broken wheel.

That's kinda stretching the clone concept a bit.

The Bush Beast pics I've seen look almost like they picked up Wild Beast with helicopter and dropped it it in Australia. That looks like a dead on clone. (Both rides have a very unique looking first drop among other things.) *** Edited 7/11/2007 8:39:10 AM UTC by Cropsey***

Differences between KI Top Gun and CW Vortex:

KI's Top Gun does not carry the train back over the lift hill the way Vortex does. While the element is the same, you can see in these pictures that the uprights on Top Gun, do not go onto the other side of the lift.

Also, the brake run on Top Gun is longer, leading me to the believe that the turn around at the top is a wider curve than Vortex as well. The trains on Top Gun are 7 cars, vs. 6 on Vortex.

It's like they took the exact same layout, but added about 10 feet onto the break run, taking the station out a bit further, with a longer turn around after the lift, and then the track course is the same. This would explain why the track never comes back over the lift.

Just some food for thought.

Actually, it does. Both coasters have an identical turn over the load station and base of the lift itself.

However the length difference between the two coasters is indeed incurred in the different brake run.

Im going to bet its a B&M and will be roughly 200 feet give or take a bit.. but that's just my guess and i didn't find that out anywhere;) Well see if im right on the 27th.

Just FYI everybody... Vortex is not a "clone" of Top Gun, Top Gun is a "clone" of Vortex.

Vortex was built in 1991, Top Gun in 1993.

Do you guys think they will clone Goliath from La Ronde? I hope its something fresh and new, but I cant seem to throw this thought from my mind.

Ask not what you can do for a coaster, but what a coaster can do for you.

Does anyone have a crude overhead sattelite image & MS Paint of a possible layout based on the footers & other information found thus far?

I think the next person who snaps a photo of the box of Rollercoater parts should look at the return address & see if it comes from B&M, Intamin, or other.

If those footer marking are correct, then that completely dwarfs all other coasters at the park, and would have to be a hyper or possibly a B&M Dive... although I'm not sure if Dive Machines are compact... from the look of BGE's Griffon, it's not.

I was there this weekend, and took some pictures of the new footers. I will try and post the pictures.

By the way, why are ride operators at this park looking at your hand stamp before you get onto a ride?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

^ to make sure you paid to get into the park and to make sure you are tall enough or able to ride that attraction and to make sure you didnt buy just a walk around admission(admission to the park in which you pay to get in but not for any rides, way cheaper).

I have never had to get a stamp at any other park. Just thought that was weird.

It IS weird... you have to have your hand stamped when you walk in, vs walking out.

What about if you need to wash your hands, and happen to use a little too much soap & rinse off the stamp? What about the waterpark, and you happen to rub the stamp off? Will they deny you the right to ride?

Here is a pic of the possible layout.

Timbers crew 08

If that ends up being the layout, looks like hypercoaster all the way.
Just to clarify, I made that as a pure guess before footers were even poured. I just went off of the area they were using and what made sense at the time.

Actually, as of now it looks like I was off by quite a bit.

We've been following this construction very closely and here's what we at CWMania know about the construction:

- There are a mix of round and square footers poured

- There is no track there yet

- Footers have been poured in only two locations in the lake

- Sections of the overflow parking lot have been dug up and footers have been poured there

As of last night:

The YELLOW area on the right is where the majority of construction has been occuring and footers are everywhere throughout this area. New construction materials were seen in the YELLOW section to the left (behind Minebuster) for the first time this week.

The RED circles are floating dams/pontoons where construction workers have poured groups of footers. We've also see the water level in the lake lowered as a result of this construction.

The PINK line is a new access road that has recently been completed

The GREEN circle on the right was a storage area, home to several shipping containers and the old ride The Fury. All of this has been moved to the area indicated by the GREEN circle on the left.

The park will announce this ride on August 27.

Complete construction pictures can been seen here: http://www.cwmania.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=124 *** Edited 8/16/2007 3:39:36 AM UTC by PCWCoasterBoy***

A new update... construction has now moved west behind Minebuster, with a huge number of footers being poured there this week. This coaster is going to be massive.

Also, drawing comparisons from this photo and other constructions photos from their other projects, it appears as thought Intamin is the likely builder.
