Grin. I actually want a GIGA, damnit!
Wing coaster feels like a letdown, really, and LostKause has a point -- not many people know about The Bat. The whole thing does look as if it was a bait for us coaster fans.
Arguments against return of The Bat being a real thing:
- not a common knowledge
- second wing coaster in same state? Breaking GK's record after its opening year?
- What about the silver comb and hair?
- They wouldn't make the same mistake again like they did last year, revealing the pages too early.
Arguments against it being an invert:
- They stopped building these things, period. Folks, get over it. Era of inverts have come to an end, and KI will never see one.
-They are more intense and not suited for broader audience.
- Not great visibility except for front row seats
- Their IT and web development staff is... *ahem*.
Now, if they built a V-seating formation for this invert like Diamondback, I'd be intrigued.
After watching someone's interpretation of this ride based on the leaked blueprints, I have to say its a wing coaster. The track's loops and inversions are bigger and longer, more "graceful" and so on...
My final answer? The Bat is resurrected.
On the bright side, I like the color scheme on the ride. It's nice. Logo's pretty good.
The only thing that was resurrected here was the memory of how Cedar Point's web designers dropped the ball when they allowed Gatekeeper to be completely leaked via the web page before the announcement.
I'm sure it took someone all of about 30 minutes to put that generic info together, and just sit back and watch the forums explode with insanity.
Kudos to KI for having a sense of humor, and playing along with KICentral's largest forum thread posters in recent weeks.
And as I said in the thread for 2014, KI needs a reliable, people-eater. So yeah, a wing coaster would do it, too. We'll know for sure Thursday evening, which incidentally my family and I will be at the park for the first time in over 4 years.
What would I rather take? The invert. I don't think bigger wing coasters should be built until they understand and solve the issue with the outer seats vibrating. The restraints will still have the same problem no matter what the height is.

Kings Island's number one concern should be reliability. The second can only come if the first is there, and that is capacity. Having a ride with a theoretical capacity of 1,800 pph won't help if the ride only operates for 2 hours every other Sunday. With that being said, I definitely think any B&M (except maybe flyers) could fit the bill.

No they didn't 'stop building' them. B&M built Oziris last year. They slowed down in building them because, as has been said ad nauseum, most parks have either an SLC of some sort, or a B&M inverted (Or both).
It's an invert.
Either the plans or this website are fake. The plans seem to line up with the footers, so that make me think that these pages are fake. These pages and logos have a very thrown together appearance suggesting that they are trying to salvage some excitement for their announcement on Thursday.
Personally I don't care, I like both styles of rides and either will handle large crowds.
Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.
The phrase "the Bat is back" is a direct lift from the ad campaign for the 1983(?) season, when KI thought that they had the ride ready to reopen on a regular basis.
There was a huge splash in the local media with that tag line, which as we all know, didn't quite work out that way.

I'm sticking with the deliberate decoy theory. If you look very closely at the images of the new coaster, they clearly demonstrate the new campground in the back.
I love that this is still going. :)
I just translated what appears to be gibberish on the first page, and it is actually Latin. It translates to "It is important to be undertaken into these errors of Persius, not of life unknown to them. Is to be the first. I will say that the power of film financing. Delivered unarmed"
Yeah, We Know.

Aha! So both the website and the comb are decoys! The ride is going to be ancient roman themed!
The comb and hair are in referrence to the name bat. The old wives tales about bats going for peoples hair. Why does everyone have trouble believing it will be a wingrider? Having 2 in the same state isn't that far fetched but you all seem to have no problem thinking its ok to have 2 big inverts in the same state? Just remember that CF is the first to put 2 huge B&M hypers in the same park'(Behemoth & Leviathon)!

Because its an invert.
If this was 5 years after GateKeeper, this would be a whole different conversation. But I just cant see CF installing a 2nd wingrider so close in back to back years.
Do you all think that CF just came up with this idea? Gatekeeper and The Bat were decided on years ago!
That doesn't change the fact of my last statement. The "leaked" page is a fake, and if you look at some of the details you can tell.
BUT DON'T YOU SEE DAVID?! JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE FIRED UP DREAMWEAVER AND THREW TOGETHER A FAKE WEBSITE WITH PHOTOS AND LAYOUTS OF OTHER COASTERS DAYS BEFORE THE ACTUAL WEBSITE WILL GO LIVE MEANS THAT THIS MUST BE ANOTHER WING COASTER FROM B&M EVEN IF EVERYTHING POINTS TO THIS BEING A MARKETING PLOY!
