It just kept getting uglier as the night went on.

I finally bowed out around 10pm.

Our group of 4 left about 8:00.

Twas crazy. The morning is what really made the day.

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.

Crowds reminded me of that same Saturday in '03 when I was working on Raptor. OMG it was total insanity!! They were talking about using the employee parking lots for people to park and using the employee buses to get them to the park and back. Yea they would have appreciated the employees a tad more after one ride on Blue Thunder lol! :)
The park was so packed I remember it almost took 15 minutes JUST to walk from Raptor to the employee caf. We spent a good 30 minutes just on the causeway. We didnt get back to the dorm that night till past 2am.

However, the BooBuzz ERT was awesome, we walked over to Raptor right after and JUST made it before a wave of a gazillion maniacs were let in. Lucky for us it was a day to say "boy, Im glad we're not riding anything else today or I'd be really pissed!" :)

You can thank the awesome weather and people waiting till the last second to use the tiks they had been holding on to all season.

We booked out shortly before the tour cause after only getting barely 2.5 hours sleep I was literally falling asleep after lunch. Didn't realize how tired I was till we stopped and sat for a while. Good thing I guess since there was NO one behind us leaving with us but tons of people waiting to drive in.

Waiting on someone to post the 1st TR to add! :)
Anyone???

60,000 by 4PM? I believe it. I'd read plenty about the HalloWeekend Saturday lines getting bad by 2:00 or so, but they were long no more than 10 minutes after the park gates were open to the GP. Cripes.

But not to complain...the ERT was AMAZING. Me and my brother each got 10 laps on Mav. (the ride ops were great that morning, and it was awesome to meet a lot of you all first-hand!) What an GREAT ride. A bit of everything. Then we snuck in a quick rush over to MF with a 10 minute wait at about 11:20...which looked to be about a 30 minute wait by the time we got off. We thought we'd be smart by going over to TTD and get in line before 12, but the line was plenty big already. So we waited around until noon for the food shops to open and get a cup of (free) pop, and by the time we had done so, the line for TTD had tripled. So much for that. A quick hit on Magnum (walk-on), and a glance at the 75-minute wait for Raptor, and we figured we'd had enough. Besides, we had spent Friday night there already...so it was time. :)

Another big thanks to Joe for counting me and my brother in as his guests since I haven't received my CB club card yet... and hope to see you all again soon! Until then, to the forums I go...

While downloading my pics from my camera, my computer crashed. I lost everything before the parade.

I decided to do some video of the costume shop and while recording my battery died... I guess it just wan't my day. :) I'd sugest turning the sound off, for some reason my camera was making a clicking noise that's irritating. And there's not much to hear anyway.

On the subject of the insane crowds:

Check THIS out.

Took that photo at 1:35pm. That's the wait to buy tickets, not the wait to get into the park.

Wow, that does look packed. Well, I guess it is really good for the park.

I heard they hit 60,000 guests by 4:00pm which was a record for them.
That's not true, but they were on pace to have their biggest day of the season. Good for the park, not so good if you wanted to ride. I can't even imagine what the Fright Zone was like.

If anyone does find out a general number of attendance for the day, I would love to hear it. Yesterday will certainly serve as the benchmark for measuring all CP crowds from now on.

My friend and I waited about 1h45 minutes for a ride on Mean Streak at around 7:00pm. We waited in the overflow queues where they were using 3 out of 4 big sections. I haven't waited there since about 1993. Every coaster line was over an hour until almost close, with the goodies (Raptor, MF, Maverick, TTD) being 2-3 hours. I didn't check Magnum, but it was well into the overflow queue area.

The wind finally died down. In fact, they opened up the skyride (props to CP!) at around 8:30-9:00pm while we were watching the Indians get smashed.

We managed to have enough energy to stay till close. We checked out all non-wait-in-line haunts, which were massively overcrowded. I felt kinda bad for the screamsters being so vastly outnumbered, but then again, it gave them the ability to blend in extremely well. Most of the execs were there late too. We saw John Hildebrandt in the Fright Zone around 11:30. We got home around 2am.

I also likened the crowd to that Halloweekend Saturday in 2003.

TheRealCP and I were rather lucky. After our Mav rides (and two Skyhawk for me), we went to MF by 11 am and I got two rides before the line got long. We saw the mob of GP behind the barriers just before noon and got one ride on Raptor before the mob descended.

It seemed we rode WT just in time as well because after our ride, the queue was filled. We waited 30 minutes for Blue Streak and 45 minutes for Mean Streak. But after that, everything was more than an hour long and we were nearing the dinner hour. Our last two rides before dinner were Himalaya and Chaos.

We left right after dinner, skipping the costume shop, but I wanted to be on the road before dark and having to deal with the construction between 280 and the Michigan border on 75. Besides, we did get a lot of riding in early in the day and I doubted we'd have been able to do much more.

We couldn't believe the number of people still at the ticket windows and lined up on the causeway to get in when we left at 5:30 pm.

I also got my 2008 season pass and the jacket (that has no pockets!) and my free ticket. I'm thinking of going for closing day.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

We stayed at Sandcastle and rode the "bus" to the park and our driver said last week they had 54000 people on Saturday which was a record. And by 6 P.M. they were already expecting way over that by the end of the day. I don't know how many people were there but it was insane. I do apologize for not being there for lunch or the tour as my group had eaten at Famous Daves at 1 and there was no way we could even force ourselves to eat untill atleast 7 or 8. I do believe that the period after 6 P.M. when we went back into the park was the worst time we have ever had in the park. I did get 10 rides on Maveick during ERT and my group got a total of 58 between the 7 of us. My wife and Sister inlaw couldn't do more than 2 in a row without taking a break. Thanks for a great morning Jeff. And I can't wait for some trips next year...

What is it about Cedar Point attendance where everyone hears what it is, but everyone has a different number? It's like an urban legend waiting to happen. :)

We just got back, and the crowds today were much better. We just went in the park and hit the coasters without long lines(Corkscrew, Magnum, Gemini, Mean Streak, and Disaster Transport.)Also took a train ride in there. Got there at 11:00 and left at 2:30.

Yeah what a day! The event was great fun. ERT was awesome, as was the Monster Shop Tour. Thanks for BooBuzz Jeff. Hey Gonch, my wife was the one who brought those Superman cupcakes that we enjoyed in the parking lot. :) Good photo too BTW. I just knew that place was going to be super mobbed. We left after the Monster Shop tour about 6:30 and it took us a half hour to get out. We were right next to traffic guy by the tollbooth & just had to turn left to leave & we'd be right out, but that idiot had us stopped for a half hour while he just let hundreds of cars into the park in front of us. Those traffic people need more training for days like that.

A couple of favorite photos that I took were these:

2:20PM TTD Midway

2:20PM Corkscrew

2:45PM Magnum's Line

OT - Just out of curiousity how do you guys get those embedded URL links to work, the ones with "click here for my link" and you don't see the URL? I can not for life of me get those to work. Thanks.

Edit - I fixed the links. Thanks for the help Gonch and Jeff.
