Chris: now that's convincing!  though I'd still like to hear people's sources.

I am in the business and all of my contacts have stated that the coaster will be over 200 foot tall with tunnels. Up until these last photos surfaced, I thought it was a hyper. My sources are never wrong, so we might see both a flyer at hyper heights with tunnels..Imagine how wonderful that ride would be :)

Good for you, Six Flags Over Georgia!

TAKE THAT ALTON TOWERS! :)

While I have not been to SFOG I believe the area in which the new coaster is being built is on a hill.  Is it possible that the height difference between station and crest of lift is 200 feet but that the actual height from the ground to the track is much less?   I'd like to think that the majority of the layout is close to the ground to enhance the sensation of flight.

The hill on which Viper was built next to was about 40-50 ft. and was significantly flattened, but not completely after that.

Oh wow B&M parts.  I mean there great and all but, calm down.

YA DID!!!
I have checked into this, and there is no ABSOLUTE "height restriction" at the park... it's all a myth that people who won't be skeptical of keep perpetuating.  If a structure is going to be built in the area close to Fulton County Airport, it must receive clearance through the FAA to do so.  Fortunately, it's not hard to get permission.  The FAA takes an approach of "if the planes can fly around it, built it."  And since the park isn't aligned with a runway... they can easily build over 200 feet.  It's not like the FAA doesn't have anything else to do besides watch what is being built at SFOG.
This is all really amusing to me, considering when I said months ago it was a B&M flyer everyone got on my back and the threads got closed.  Now it seems that everyone thinks its a flyer.  It's just annoying how people can go from telling you that you are insane, to agreeing with you.

What's worse is that not only are they agreeing - but they are trumping up the specifications that will burst at announcement.
It will NOT be 200' or greater.  A hyper flyer makes no sense since you'd have to spend most of the time on your back.  Cut that in half and you have the approx height from the station level.

Well I for one, DEFINITELY will remember that you were the first to come out and put your name on the line saying it was gonna be a flyer.  Congratulations.
Now your boy gatorwoodie2 over there naysaying the entire B&M idea...  what's your problem?  Maybe people are excited that the South is getting a quality coaster from arguably one of the premier coaster makers in the business.  Don't rain on our parade just because you have ridden so...many... oh wait, you don't have a coaster list... sorry.  And unless you're actually Bill in cognito, you might wanna come up with a more original name.
Lets all try to be Positive Pattys about this and not Negative Nancys.  SFoG is getting a solid boost by this regardless of what it finally ends up being.

Agree, I find it hard, if not impossible, to believe it will be anywhere near 200ft.  Those supports are nowhere near thick enough to support 200'.  Unless of course there are tons more to come, I can't see this thing being taller than 125'.
Sure hope there is almost 100% flying time!

Well the difference between you & Chris Godsey was that he actually research and gave us overwhelming clues that the coaster has an inverted lift hill. Now, that is going to make me believe that it is true.Just saying SFoG is getting a B&M Flyer, but Im not saying anything else, is NOT going to make me believe. That's probably why no one took you seriously.

Well, I do not know the specifics as of yet. I am relaying to you what I have heard. I have heard from more than one person that the coaster will be over 200 foot tall with tunnels....

If it's true, I think the lift might be under 200 foot and the drop will be over 200 into the trenches like Goliath.

FYI-*SFOG DOES have a 275 foot height restriction* There is a small executive airport close by that has the park in it's landing pattern.

I expect to see more footers poured and the lift supports assembled this week and the next.

I'd gladly give up inversions for more heighth.  Maybe a large corkscrew or two while flying might be ok, but give us some speed and nose scrapers!

What's wrong with a hyper flyer? Alpengeist is almost a hyper invert, so we may as well see a flyer be in the 200 foot ballpark. Sure, it may be a little too soon, considering the fact that there are no operating B&M flyers, but there's always a first...

Actually, the "heigh restrictions" are determined on a case by case basis...  there is no absolute ceiling per se.  So some part of the park could have higher ones than others... and no runways align with park, although the front part of the park comes close, but they built Acro and Gasp there, so it would make sense that it could be higher in other parts of the park.

Because FTY/Charlie Brown field has light, primarily small planes flying in and out, that adds to the relaxed standards and codes which you can build by.  Now, if the park was next to Hartsfield Intl... that would be a different story!

B & M Flyer, Intamin Hyper, Arrowbatic, Your Mom, in the end it all equals high quality thrills for us all.  I for one am excited any which way it goes (except for maybe your mom, that might just be weird), and I am not going to start slinging rumors and mud at anyone.

Now, College Football is another ballgame. :

1) Big 10 is #1.  'Nuff said

2)Go Boilermakers!

3)Notre Dame sux (sorry Arrow Guy, all's fair in Purdue and Notre Dame rivalries)

4)College ball is too much fun not to get involved :)

Oh, and one last thing......

GO BEARS!
