BGT New Coaster for 2005!

Matt- As marketable as that phrase would be, it is still a bit of truth-twisting. Don't forget that astroworld's ultratwister has that 87 degree drop, only a hair off the B&M's 87.5 angle. does half a degree mean the difference between the first US vertical drop coaster?

I think it should be marketed as 'The Central-Western Florida's First Nearly-but-not-quite-Vertical Dropping Coaster in which that not-quite-vertical drop is all that consists of the coaster, making it a one trick pony".

How's that for marketing? TCWFFNBNQVDCIWTNQVDIATCOFTCMIAOTP is already the number 1 coaster in the US and most of canada! *** Edited 4/30/2004 3:14:33 PM UTC by IntrepidationAW***

Ah-ha! Intrepidation, What he said is "first of its kind vertical drop coaster..." not the first vertical drop coaster. That's what's meant about truth-twisting.

"Ignore the screaming in the woods...Everything is fine! This is your last chance to escape the wrath of.... THE BEAST."

Well you got me there!

Did Paul Ruben (sp?) ride it already?

No, but he saw a black and white sketch from a patent application, and then he knew, oh how he knew!

Wouldn't the Vu's have already beat it out for "First Virticle Drop" even if they don't count ultra twister? and there's one in GA, I'm sure people in Florida(the unretired kiddies) know its there....
Oblivion pre-dates the Vu's as is.

Also Tekno, the Mr. Freezes opened 3 years before the Vu's and it has 3 vertical drops (going down the top hat, falling off the spire, going down the top hat in reverse).

I'm sure there are many, many coasters out there with a vertical or near-vertical element of track that we're missing.

Speaking of misleading advertising. Out here in CO we have the new Halfpipe opening soon. The first ad I saw for SFEG this year billed it as the "First coaster of it's kind." This obviously isn't true. The next time I saw an ad it said "First halfpipe coaster in the U.S.". Now that is true, funny how they actually changed it.
This was taken from bgtguide.com

"Along the construction wall now are Tiki masks and cartoon bubbles with hints about the new ride. Some of these include:

"What has 48 feet, but rarely touches the Ground?"
"What is taller than 10 Giraffes, and faster than a charging Rhino?"
"What is Red and Blue but will make you Green all over?"
"What is too fast to see, but has a birds Eye View?""

As of now the standard B&M Dive Machines have only had 16 riders on the train and that is only 32 feet. I still believe it will be a dive machine based on all of the leaked out knowledge, rumors just don't get this big without some truth. So does this mean there will be another row to the trains? It is very possible since supposedly they have outfitted the trains to make a splash.

Also the site states some stats on the ride which he has refered to as insider information.

What do you think?

3 rows of 8 is what I have heard. Which would give you the "48 feet". Also, this coaster is a dive machine, no denying it, 100% sure.

See you on the Rails.
Ok interpreting the riddles into some coaster statistics:

"What has 48 feet, but rarely touches the Ground?"

So its either 3 rows of 8, or hopefully 6 rows of 4, because those big doublewide cars at Oblivion are really ugly!

"What is taller than 10 Giraffes, and faster than a charging Rhino?"

Giraffes average 18' according to National Geographic so that's more than 180' tall - potentially the first hyper in Florida?

Rhinos charge at 28mph/45 kph (at least Black Rhinos do according to the WWF) - so I hope it does x2 that hehe.

"What is Red and Blue but will make you Green all over?"
"What is too fast to see, but has a birds Eye View?"

Those are the more abstract riddles -

The first one could be a hint as to the colors and that is a rollercoaster - Red and Blue colors and it'll make you Green potentially.

Second one, hmm going to have to think on that one.

Have Fun!

"What is too fast to see, but has a birds Eye View?"

Could it actually be a flyer rather than a dive machine? hmmm..... Though birds eye view could have to do with the height too. This leaves a lot to interpret yet....have fun!

I would prefer the wider cars. It means more front row seats for the drop...

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I'm not sure what it sounds like, but I hope it is a dive machine. For anyone that is calling it a one trick pony, so is Top Thrill Dragster and a lot of people really love that ride. I think that the dive machines would be a wonderful addition to the park.

If it is true, I will definitely want to make a trek back down to BGT to ride it. I'll reserve judgement for the actual ride.

I'm agreeing with Beast7369. Sounds like a Flyer to me. Why not rip off Air, instead of Oblivion? ;)

Yaknow, a flyer with a vertical drop would be pretty slick! ;)

Beyond slick. Sick. :)

What would be really cool, IMHO, would be to do the dive on a flying verticle coaster with the train on top of the track, and then invert it.
It is a Dive Machine, Not a Hyper and not a Flyer.

P.S. Howdy George!

Josh

See you on the Rails.
A B&M Flyer would have more than 48 feet. SFGAm's and SFGAdv's have 8 cars of 4 for a total or 64 feet.
