Best Location for a new theme park

"Florida may have many parks but there's only , Ummm.... about 9 roller coasters in the whole state"

I do not know how true this is, but there was rumor a while back on the Motley Fools Website BBS for Disney chareholders that WDW was considering entering into a contract for a Legoland on WDW property. If it's like the one in Carlsbad, that will net you three more!
a six flags in greensboro NC or somewhere in the triad region to compete with carowinds! There is nothing to do in Greensboro and this would be a good economic boost for the city!

Besides my backyard :), I say why not put an amusement in Pennsylvania. Because for me Dorney is too far. CP and SFWoA are the closest and they are in Ohio. And Kennywood only has 4 coasters.

i think a new park needs to be put somewhere in new york. By the way, incase you didn't know there is a new waterpark in new york state called roseland waterpark. go to www.roselandwaterpark.com for more info.

"who needs drugs when you have coasters...they're like a natural high"
Micheal Moss , I live in indiana to and IF you know people on the upper chains that are willing to put out some money I am sure I could find a few companies. I would be more than willing to help you , you know a 50/50 thing. But that is only if you are serious.
Problem with Detroit, ( I know...I live here)...is that it is NOT very easy to get here...with WATER all around. Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana can draw from other states without the "water hazard"..

Mikey, who is Cedar Point bound (again!) on Saturday :)
Central NY, there would be no compition and there are plenty of people around.

JORDON DUNHAM:

I am very serious about getting this off of the ground.

The early problems that I have ran into is in fact the sponsorship. That would be a major boost. Then The land could be bought and then a major theme park company could be brought in.

I have also emailed Will Koch at Holiday World to see what advice he has in this matter. Seeing how far that park has come along in the last few years, he must be doing something right:)

And I still say we need to rally into Six Flags Corporate and do something with the Old Indiana Property, if not buy it back somehow!

Which also reminds me I need to find a way to get ahold of Roger Jourden of MA. HE must have some great advice/direction too.

I tell ya what though, the weather here lately has been very poor for parks. Almost two inches of solid rain here in New Whiteland past 4 days

Hey Mike, I, too, wanted to build my own theme park and I have all my "preliminary" plans made up. I contacted ITPS (International Theme Park Services) quite a few years ago regarding what is involved in a feasiblity study and I got a response back from them. But when they told me about how much it would cost just to do a feasibility study, that pretty much killed my dream.

I still have the plans here if you're interested. I'm not sure what you may have in mind as far as your design is concerned. I was just thinking that if you couldn't get the Old Indiana site, there is the former Garfield park site near Indy.

"Sydney, Australia."

I second that.
I THINK CEDAR FAIR WITH VALLEYFAIR NEAR THE MINNESOTA RIVER BOTTOM SHOULD EXPAND. BY BUYING MERPHY'S LANDING HEADING TOWARDS MEMORIAL PARK CUT OFF, AND EXPANDING TO THE EAST TOWARDS 101 AND THE OLD RIVER CROSSING. A LARGE THEME PARK BY THE RIVER BOTTOM WOULD LOOK GOOD FOR MINNESOTA AND THE BUISNESS FOR VF, ESCPECIALY WITH WOODEN COASTERS AND MORE TO COME.
Micheal I will start trying to get sponsor or a hold of some people that could help out. Rides though won't be expensive As most think. Six flags has 2 billion dollars debt. It will be just a matter of time before they will start wanting to sell some of the rides at old indiana for cheap.

Point of clarification: Kennywood has FIVE (5) coasters - JackRabbit, Racer, Thunderbolt (DDM), Exterminator and Phantom's Revenge.

It sounds very promising.

That Feasibilty study would be very expensive, but once again that could be picked up by good sponsorship.

Let me know what you have worked up and we could go on from there.

Jordan: Excellent News bud:) The more people the better.

I agree with you on the rides not being that expensive. I have quite a few sites bookmarked on my backflip page at

You probably will see some very familiar company sites. And I have more to bookmark:)

Thank you all very much!! Anyone else want to help?

Clarification of 2Hostyl's point of clarification ;) -- Kennywood has SIX coasters: you forgot Lil' Phantom.
The perfect place for a new theme park would be around the Memphis,TN/Tunica,MS area because you have quite a large population in Memphis plus you have many casinos and such in Tunica. Already as popular as Tunica is, a nice big theme park would be perfect for the area.

There arent that many parks in the middle of the US (Nebraska, Kansas, etc.) so i think they need one there. Also, i dont think that Michingan has many parks, so theres another area.
