Bad News For Knoebels Flyer Fans!

I was at Knoebes as usual when I went to the Flyers and saw THIS!

I didn't bother to ride to see how they are inforcing it but one ride op who usually operated the Flyer flagged me down at the Paratroopers and told me about it. My guess is it's fairly strict.

Any Thoughts? :(

Me thinks this sucks! Is that what you are looking for? :-)
PKI officially has the number one Flyers now? And that's honestly kind of sad. :(

It's not official yet. I didn't test out the ones at Knoebels since the sign. I think I may have to test that out on Friday. Just so I don't get banned! I can see them taking a mug shot of me with a Warning: Do not let this guy ride.
Wow, that sucks, if they do inforce it. Heck I last time I was there the ops were encouraging us to make our flyers "dance". One even gave us a special ride because he noticed we were coaster nerds. I hope this is just something from the legal department and isn't enforced.
Yeah, Mark, but when we were there, the majority of the rides were rather weak also. Nothing like when we were there in June. At least the bumper cars still rock! Maybe they will take care of us during PPP.:)

Hi people! I just joined this thing like 5 mins ago, and although I am prolly not as much of a coaster fanatic as alot of you, I still come here from time to time to read some of the posts. "Coasterpunk" just told me about this, and sent me that picture, so I felt like I had to join and respond to this, being that that is my favorite ride at Knoebels!

The Flyers fu*kin' rock!!! Like seriously, I can't go to that place without riding them!!! That has been my favorite ride since I was like 5, and now my life is ruined! hahaha...well not really but I like snapping the cables. I used to do it by accident sometimes, but this summer I think I've mastered the art of snapping them deliberately pretty well! This news totally sucks...but like how would they know if you were really doing it on purpose??? Like the one time my friend wasn't even trying to do it, and she had some of the biggest snaps I've ever seen and came off all freaked out and crying! hahaha...I mean it just happens sometimes...and like I hear something about too many little kids getting hurt on it... So what's next? Taking the ride outta the park? God, I've came off there with bruises on my side, but you don't see me crying about it. Whatever though...I hope they don't enforce it fully...like maybe some cool ride ops would let you still do it, or if they do enforce it then I will just have to make a trip there at like 3:27am and take that dumb sign down!

But anyways...a little about me...My name's Nicole...I am 24...and I was introduced to this by "coasterpunk". Um...I haven't been to really many parks except for ones near me, but besides coasters, my favorite ride is the "slingshot" at Seaside Heights, NJ!

When they say "whip the sails" do they mean to not fling the sails from side to side quickly or do they mean to not "bounce your bird" (as PKD calls it) or to not snap?

Yeah. I'm not so sure what "whipping the sail" means, but it probably means smashing the moving part back and forth. I don't think it has anything to do with snapping.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

There's no use beating around the bush. We all know what their getting at, unfortunately!
Actually, last year, after my brother and I were riding (and snapping) for about an hour and a half, some other people started riding and snapping too. The ride op suddenly freaked out and started yelling that he would eject and one caught snapping. We went to customer service to complain about the rude and unproffessional way the op had acted (allowing an action for so long without saying it anything, then screaming and threatening people as if we knew all along we were breaking rules). Customer service claims that they started a no snapping rule about 2 or 3 years ago at PPP. I didn't bother pointing out that I learned to snap at the PPP they were talking about, I just left in disgust. So, maybe the sign is to start getting ops to pay attention to the rule.
Okay... after reading this, I am officially depressed.

Had planned on going there tomorrow afternoon... now I am not sure I even want to bother. *** Edited 8/19/2004 12:10:24 PM UTC by SLFAKE***

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"
Wow that really stinks and really takes the fun out of it!

Has anyone ever seen the flyers at PKI hit the landscaping around the ride? Back in the early 90s I seen this. I also seen it hit the op station. It was kinda freaky at first, but the ride op didn't seem to surpised because he/she just yelled at the riders and told them to stop whipping the sail so hard.

My first impression of that sign caused me to shout out things that are totally inappropriate in an office setting. But I can't help but wonder what "whipping the sails" actually means. Does it mean snapping the cables or just violent movements of the sails?
No need for violent movement of the sails... though I have seen some do it. I will go along with that. As for "no snapping"... hmmmmmm.... Horrible visions of Hersheypark's Frontier Flyers come to mind... stopping the ride mid cycle because they are being "bounced" and then running it through a few empty cycles "to make sure nothing is damaged."

GSkeemGirly even though you used an asterick, it's still obvious what you meant. Be careful about your language. I'm not a mod (but I play one on t.v.), but it's always good to get your feet wet before you dive into the pool. Another words, lurk around here a little bit to get the style, and then post.
You're talking as if she posted OMG WTF Cedar Point Rulz SF Drulz TTD is Da Sheezy Fa Reezy Ma Neezy!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone

We only pig-pile on people when they say something stoopid--and she didn't. Even New Dork of the Year/Freshly off (Bleep)slap probation Kyle Fobe lets off an occasional asterisk-laced choice one and no one gets huffy.

Frankly, I can't think of a better reason to let one fly than a sign like that one.

GSkeemGirly, did coasterpunk warn you what you were getting in to here? Have you been IMed by any snot-nosed 16 year-olds yet? I'll give you ohhhh, maybe two more hours. :-P

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Sorry, the Flyers broke while I was there last year, so I can't understand their "pain". The only flyers I've been on are at HP, and I know they're not the same.
They have to be ridden to be believed!
Tell you the truth, I find you have to feather the sails pretty smoothly to get Snapping, Whipping them will only get you bent out of shape.

A smooth rythem once you find the pattern and it's almost impossible not to do it.

Chuck, who had a very difficult time not snapping Lesourdsvilles after we were asked not to because it just came so natural.
