4 SF Parks to Get New Attractions

Ride of Steel's avatar
SFDL really needs a new ride. I'm so thankful for Shipwreck Falls this year and S:ROS but we need a woodie or a beemer

Six Flags really needs to look at guest satisfaction and guest relations service. I believe there was only one Six Flags park that I left and felt that I had a good time and that was Six Flags Darien Lake. The others I did not leave with a smile on my face as Six Flags New England closed just about all their rides down an hour early. Plus, I had to put up with Superman breaking down every time I got in line. Eventually I got to ride each time but I'm tired of all the "technical difficulty" it has that day.

When I went to Six Flags Great America in Chicago, it was thundering in the earlier part of the day, but then the park had to stay closed when the sun came out due to safety reasons. Then they announced the park would close early at 5:00. But, at 4:00 they decided to open some of the park. I only got in four coasters and had to leave the park while the sun was shining. They didn't hand out any free passes (I have a season pass) or anything so everyone who spent $40 and only got in perhaps 4 or 5 rides like I did wound up spending about $10 per ride. I've gotten free passes from other parks that had only one of their coasters down and they felt obligated. I still had a great time at those parks even without the free pass (thanks Paramount). At SFWOA X-flight never opened till 2:00 due to it having problems.

Plus, whenever I go around to find out anything all they say is "I don't know". They also don't run some of their coasters up to capacity, meaning one train running when there should be two and having to wait in line longer and get very fustrated. Six flags is really going down the hole. No wonder they're having a decline in attendance. People are waking up and saying why go to Six flags when I can go to a traditional park where it's cheaper, more fun and I get more for my money. Six flags needs to wake up and improve their guest relations, have their coaster capacity running full, stop having all their coaster break down all the time (why is it that the coasters at six flags break down constantly and at other parks they hardly have no breakage at all) and improving their staff.

Well, this is no suprise to those of us that live in "Have Not" cities. From what I understand, Astroworld's Attendance was down, the per cap was way up. So as a result. Six Flags Astroworld will celibrate the 35th anniversiary with nothing new and in fact probably losing rides.

And who says Six Flags doesn't neglect parks?

Oh please! If they really believe that a lack of new coasters is the main reason for poor attendance at these parks, then SFAW should be getting 20 new coasters next year! But you don't see them planning to reward US for all the years that WE have had to go without a new coaster, now do you? Stupid, arrogant, hypocritical Six Flags! POOR parks like SFOT, SFGAd, and SFMM didn't get a new coaster like they USUALLY do, so it must be time to give them all ANOTHER one! Nevermind that SFAW hasn't gotten a new coaster in FIVE YEARS, nevermind that next year is SFAW's 35th Anniversary, oh NO, let's IGNORE the SEVERE lack of new coasters at that park, and fuss over the same four that ALWAYS get the best new coasters some more! I'm about one season away from boycotting every Six Flags park in the world until they finally start building new coasters at SFAW at least every other year!

If you build it, they will come!

Well before Astroworld gets a new coaster SF should instead give them the money to clean up the park give coasters like batman the escape new paintjobs because that is the ugliest thing i ever saw in my life

Ride of steel you couldn't have said it better.

SFDL does need a new coaster we already have a top 10 coaster S;ROS but we have yet to receive a B&M coaster.

When my girlfriend rode great bear at Hershey park she simply loved it even bought on ride photos.

She told me she wished SFDL had one. I agreed SFDL really needs another coaster. SFDL has great attendance clean park why not?

But we can B***h and moan it stiil won't change anything right now. Well I'am headed to SFDL on 8/25 I guess I'll enjoy riding S:ROS!

Do you think maybe all 4 parks will be getting the same coaster? They did that for Batman the Ride.

Six Flags Great Adventure - the mother of all coaster parks

good . Im glad that after the news that six flags stock was way down they have decided to invest in their parks rather than downsiseng. also i think putting money back into sfgadv and sfmm is a great idea. these parks are where they will see the greatest return on their investment. i also think this means that sfgadv will get its flyer.but sfmm on the other hand I dont think the puplic will flock to the park for a woodie. i think they will get a gigga with a drasticly different layout than goliath

if i was six flags i would give my top parks a coaster AT LEAST every other year .I also would not spend alot of money at sfaw. lets face it some parks are going to be mega parks and others will be less than great. you cant expect a park in denver to have as many coaster as one in los angleses. its about location.

ALL PARKS ARE NOT CREATED EQUALY

I still don't understand why SFAW is not a mega park. Look at its location....It's right next to the 4th largest populated city in America.

I'm fine with that. Now that X is running maybe we can have a 4d for gadv.

Because it has no room for expansion. That's why.

Astroworld also has very little competition.

the way i see this is they have 125 million to spend and 4 parks getting new coasters. i'm guessing on average coasters seem to cost around 15million each so this leaves them with 65 million for other things such as park improvements, employee perks, ride relocations exc. the next couple of months should be very interesting. i guess its just time to wait and see.

hopefully they will spend some money fixing deja vu.

The thing I am not getting though, is why put more money into the parks that are having bad years, especially a park like SFoT, the park just got Titan. But yet the parks that are having good years can't get anything, oh well, Six Flags has buried their own grave.

nessy: Ever heard the phrase "The Squeaky Wheel gets the grease?" Avoiding the myriad of jokes that go along with this phrase (koff*Rotting Lumber*koff) there is at least a *little* paralell here. The parks that are doing poorly need help and help fast. The parks that are doing well, well they do NOT need immediate help. IDEALY, every park could get something new. But the cash for such investments is scarce at best so SFI has to pick and choose. They have to 'stop the bleeding' at the bad parks. Unfortuneately that may be not at the expense of the good parks. Dem's da breaks!

The thing is, they never notice when parks other than the big 4 are doing bad. look at AstroWorld, it's been doing bad since 99, except this year for some strange reason, and it hasn't gotten anything. SF needs to sell off some of their newer purchases and concentrate on the older SFs.

Wierd is all I can say. It's too bad these four parks are the ones getting big attractions. I agree that AW should get something. DL and WOA also. SFMM!?!?!? Why the hell would you put another coaster there?!?! You just got 4 in two years. Now 5 in two years! I'm sorry, but that's pushing it. I also agree that Six Flags has to realize that it's not always quantity. A lot of it is Quality. Good job Cedar Fair, Busch Gardens and Paramount's. Take some notes SF.
First of all, who said SFMM was getting a coaster? It seems like your whining is MUCH too pre-mature.

-----------------
"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Well it was confirmed in the SF Inc. Conference call that those four park already mentioned including SFMM, would get coasters for 2003.

I have solid sources hinting at multiple additions at SFMM for 2003, at the rate this is going CP and MM will have 20 coasters apiece by 2006 lol
