4 SF Parks to Get New Attractions

Relax - The difference between Batman and Nitro is capacity. Nitro pumps out about 400 more rides per hour than Batman.

Example Raging Bull's Max. hourly Capacity is around 1600 while Batman is around 1200. Its also a heck of alot easier to get interval on Raging Bull than on Batman.

My point - Nitro won't have the longest line because of that fact.

Antoher thing $125 for all attractions is roughly $25 million per park if you include the big 5. Interesting. I just hope the money is well spent.

Maybe we will see Shockwave popping up at another park next year.

I just hope the flyer at SFGAM isn't a clone.

I wouldnt go by what this article says. They did mention attractions at those 4 locations, but they specifically talked about the 3 parks that underperformed... SFGADV, SFWOA, and SFOT. They also stressed the importance of growth at SFWOA to compete in the nearby markets. Go listen to the webcast of the conference call, then you will get a better idea of what was said. A couple of quotes isnt gonna give the whole picture.

Parks that had increases were: SFMM, SFEG, SFSTL, SFKK, and SFA. Pretty much everywhere else was either flat or down. Most of those parks that performed had little or no Cap-Ex for 2002. I guarantee you SF is examining what worked at these parks and will srtive to replicate it across the board. Out of those 5 parks, SFEG got the most Cap-Ex(About 5 million). SFSTL got a 1 million dollar darkride rebuild, SFMM got X up and working(somewhere in the 1-5 million dollar range), and SFKK and SFA got nothing major at all. I think the post 9/11 attitide towards road travel has helped these parks and will continue to help them until the world has confidence to make long trips again. Most people will drive as much as 8 hours for vacations now compared to 6 in 2000. This means, more small 2-3 trips to your local parks and less 1-2 week ones at your favorite mouse house ;) Look for this trend to continue through 2003 at least.

TR2k3....GET READY!

You know what would be a good marketing scheme for Six Flags? Have all the parks that are getting new coasters as the ones modeled in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. They would already have the 2003 additions present in the game, so on the same day that RCT2 is released, Six Flags announces all of it's new coasters and the parks they are going to be built at. That would get them some publicity!

What SF needs to do with some of that $125 million is put all of their employees through customer service training (a few courses on manners wouldn't hurt, either). I don't know about other SF parks, but in the past few years Magic Mountain's customer service has gone down the toilet.

I don't think corporate realizes how important good customer service is. In the past few years, I have cut my trips to Magic in half. This has nothing to do with the economy, I make twice as much money now than I did three years ago. I'm just sick and tired of rude people.

In May, I was waiting for the front gates to open. When the guy came to open them he shouted, "Everybody stay back! Don't rush the gates when we open them! Stay back!" I was the first one in line so he was pretty much looking at me the whole time. So I said, "Good morning to you too, and thanks for spending 42 bucks to get into Magic Mountain so I can have a paycheck!"
He just kinda sneered at me. It's little things like that. If he would have smiled, said good morning and explained that it was in the best interest of our safety not to rush the gates, that would have been fine.

Later that day, I went to refill my soda. You could tell the chick behind the counter hated her job. She had a look on her face like someone just ripped a stinky one. She was so damn slow! When I finally got to the front, she did not say ONE word to me. Not one! I asked her for a Coke with no ice. She sighed, grabbed my cup, and started to put ice in it. I reminded her that I didn't want any ice. She sighed again, dumped out the ice, and made my soda. Luckily I knew how much it cost, because she didn't say a damn word. I gave her the $1.07 and told her to get another job.

That same day I came across two very rude ride ops. That was enough for me, so I went to customer service to file a complaint. I spent 25 minutes filling out the front and back of the form. I left my home number, work number, and e-mail address and asked them to respond to my complaint. Nothing. Not even a generic e-mail saying that they recieved my complaint. SF really needs to wake up. Knott's (besides the staple happy ride-ops) has great customer service. One time I bought one of those rocks that you cut open and it has crystals inside of it (I think it's called a geode?). At park closing time I was doing some last minute shopping and left my rock in the gift shop. The next day, I called them and asked them if they found it. They did, and the very nice lady said that Knott's would mail it to me free of charge! What great customer service! It's paid off for them too. Since that happened, I have increased the frequency of my visits (it used to be twice a year, now it's four times). The fact that people did all that for my $12 rock shows that they really value me as a customer. I haven't seen that at Magic in a long time.

Coasters and Chronic
What a Combo!

There is no need for SFMM to be getting something, of course they are going to make lots of profits, ITS DOWN THE STREET FROM LA!!!!

Its just like the MLB, New York, Boston, LA, and all the other huge cities that came make the money and can spend the money!!

SFMM....4 coasters in three 3 years

So SFNE isnt getting a new coaster next year :(

-----------------
Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

Why would SFNE get a new coaster in 03 when they just spent $9.5 million on B:TDK for 02?

SF will be spending money on only those parks which had good revenue & attendance in 02,and SFA is among the parks that performed well this year so we'll be seeing something nice in 03. =)

lets send a new coaster to great escape...its been to long!!!!

The deprived parks like SFGAdv, SFoT, SFWoA, & SFDL deserve new rides. :)

Deprived?!?!? The only one I would say deprived is DL and maybe WoA. I'd say a park like AW is deprived. Even a dark ride would be good. Apeman's sig explains it all: SFAW, the bastard child of Six Flags.

That's why he had a ":)" at the end of his post...he was being sarcastic.

Wait what about Six Flags New Orleans? Is a B:TR clone not a major expansion?
I really hope Great Adventure gets a 4D. I still don't know though, X was having major problems. PLus They might have canceled the order since Arrow was in court.
SF:WOA deprived? Lets see in the last 3 years they have gotten S:UE, X-Flight, Villian, B:KF, and Roadrunner Express, or heavens they are extremely deprived.

The Beast and Night, They go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly

because X is gradually being fixed to perfection, maybe if its running reliably for long enough parks will ask the company for 4Ds, pay them first off and will be able to pay off SFMM or take them to court for things like urging them to push it as fast as they can so that its opened quicker, which resulted in the ride we now have.

but anyway X is running better than it was I heard, even though the lifts runnin slower

X-Flight gives you wwwwwwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggsssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be *exceptionally* surprised if someone got a 4-d for next year.....not unpeaseantly so, but amazed....with the whole X situation, assuming the problem is now RESOLVED, I might expect someone to get an '04 4-d.....and the time would give the engineers time to learn from their previous mistakes...(hey it is a COMPLETELY new thing, the learning process is inevitable, let's hope their learning curve is steep).....but the probelms were ongoing beyond a *reasonable* deadline for an order for this year, so it would have had to have been ordered WHILE X was still down....unlikely IMO....of course, the irony here is that there are people reading this and either 1) chuckling or 2) scratching their heads....:)
I'm Almost positive that SFGAM will be WAY up in attendance this year. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the top SF park this year hearing that all of the other big parks were down bad.

Don't Mess With S&S
S&S = The Industries POWERhouse
What do you get when 3 companies become one? Something B&M and Intamin can't handle.

Well, this is no suprise to those of us that live in "Have Not" cities. From what I understand, Astroworld's Attendance was down, the per cap was way up. So as a result. Six Flags Astroworld will celibrate the 35th anniversiary with nothing new and in fact probably losing rides.

And who says Six Flags doesn't neglect parks?
