4-24-04 Our Knoebels wedding!

Public forums are just that, made so that I can state my opinion, as "asinine" as you think it may be. And no I am far from being a miserable person, but this jumped out at me and I had to say something. These two have kids, so have they been married before? You are right, mrskywhirl, the divorce rate is up to last I heard 58%, but it isnt about being married in a church. It is about making a mockery of something that was once considered "sacred". I am taking my time to post on this because of just that, of them mocking the sacredity of marriage and turning it into something "kids" would do. I have said the same thing to my friends who decided to get married while skydiving (2 years ago, and are now divorced). Coasterdad, the girl certainly seems like a "dog" to me. Do you not see that she wants a tropical honeymoon while he wants to go around the country riding coasters? I will almost bet he gets his way, us men usually find our way around the technicalities. Not every person in my life fits the standard of "normal", but this is abnormal to me, whether it has been done in the past or not. I would have loved to have met these people. They seem like attention-mongers to me. Again, my opinion. So Heatherw...pant after your coasterfantom and see how tired you get. I guarantee that it will get old. But best of luck to the both of you until D(ivorce)-Day. If you need a good lawyer, my brother is one. Just let me know.
You are actually the attention-monger here, and I am afraid I let my guard down long enough to send some attention your way.

Maybe your friends who divorced not long after a skydiving wedding did so because they knew you?

What I "see" is an angry little man no longer worthy of any more of my time.

Steve, how inappropriate. I can't believe someone would post something like that!

For anyone still looking for honeymoon spots, we spent a week at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica. Our "room" was a two-room villa, complete with a walled, private plunge pool and hottub. No coasters, but fabulous. Good food, plenty of great beverages, and a nice (though not outstanding) beach. The specific property we stayed at is closed for renovation, to open in December of this year, but there are others.

I too went to Jamaica on my honeymoon. We returned for a second one last year.

Our resort last year was small and initmate. Everyone knew us within a day. Our suite had a balcony over the water and a jacuzzi. All inclusive meant just that we spent under $200 while actually in Jamaica.

Eleven days of this, with airfare, just under $2500.

You can't beat it. This year we are looking at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

We had a great time in Cancun. The trick to Cancun is the hotel you stay in. There are some dumps that look nice online. You should also do an all inclusive package.

Went to Hawaii for the first time last year. You can't go wrong there. :) We stayed on Oahu, what everyone says is the crappy island. I thought it was fantastic. You just need to rent a car so you can spend time on different parts of the island.

CD64: which resort? That's not a bad price.

We stayed at Club Ambiance.

We flew from Orlando on AirJamaica. Our trip was booked through AirJamaica Vacations.

The place is small, and does not have the glitz of Sandals, but if you want to relax and be treated like royalty, this is the place.

Call it the Holiday World or Knoebles of Jamaica.

How can this be done? Are you going to have the bride with you on the rain or are you both going to enter the train at different times (before you leae the station). This should be fun; put up a trip report after the wedding will you?

You looked lovely! We made it just in time to see you guys drive across the bridge with Mr. Knoebel, but we couldn't get a chance to say, "Hi" to you. You guys were guarded like royalty! :)

Anyhow, BEST of luck and CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS! :)

Andrea

Congrats Pete and Heather! Rich and I enjoyed seeing your wedding. We also peeked into your pavillion to check out the cake--very cute! We wish you much happiness!

Don't pay any attention to Steve. The only thing that matters is if you're happy. Rich and I plan on getting married on a coaster too and could care less what anyone else thinks of it.

Your wedding made the front page of the paper here in Shamokin about 20 minutes away from Knoebels pictures and everything! Congrats even though I only saw you once at Knoebels. Amazing how you can see the same normal looking person in a park 20 times and a bride in a wedding gown only once!

Our wedding day...

Ill try to tell you all about it without losing my post this time.

After only a few hours of sleep the night before the wedding I woke up with a bad case of the flu...unfortunate for your wedding day, but I made it threw the important part...the coaster ceremony and most of the reception. That is why you probably didn't see much of us in the park. I wish you would have stopped by the reception if you were there unfortunately, that is where Pete and I spent most of our time.

We could not have asked for a more perfect sunny day! We definitely had someone on our side with the weather. I am sure your wishes for good weather had a lot to do with that. We arrived late to the park due to me not feeling well at all.

Knoebles treated us like a king and a Queen. And I say that lightly because it was even beyond that! They definitely made us feel like royalty.

We chose three songs one was palisades park for Pete and his son to enter the exit ramp, and then buddy holly's your love is like a roller coaster...(a great song may I add). The traditional Here comes the bride as my dad walked me up the exit ramp. we made our way to the coaster and my 70 year old father tried to sneak on. I cried so hard when I had to ask him to get off due to health conditions. Needless to say off we went up the hill. The ceremony was beautiful "sacred" and religious. Rev. Herring is such a gem! He made our ceremony unique and fun, and also very memorable. Once the ceremony was over off we went over the hill.again and again and agan....holding on hand in hand.

I can tell you that was the best rollercoaster ride I have ever had in my life. Having all of our friends, family, and everything we love all in one was amazing. We chose to get married on the rollercoaster for many reasons. One being that is where we had one of our first dates where I met Petes son..our best man. Another is because it really symbolizes all the things that Pete and I have been threw and over come, and all the things we will go threw and over come in the future. It not only was fun, sacred, silly, childish, and memorable..it will be a constant reminder of what we had gone threw and that we knew what we were getting into from the beginning. I had a wonderful childhood, and at any moment would go back ...so why not have a childish wedding right??

The reception was great, quick, and fun as well. We wanted to find a way to get all of our friends and family to go to a park with us and share in the fun and this was the only way we could get everyone together to do that. We had approx . 100 guests. And the coaster cake that we got a local baker to make was unique and perfect. I was so glad I trusted someone I had never met. If you ever need a roller coaster cake I will have a picture in the near future. Unfortunately I do not have any photos to post, but I do thank Coaster Punk for posting that news article. There were quite a few papers there and a news station I believe but since we are from the Hershey area we do not get that paper..and were not sure of the names.

They took off the antique car and Dick Knoebel drove us around the park then to our reception. I do have a video of when we drove across the bridge coaster punk and coaster wife is that where you were?? Pete and I were watching it trying to guess whom you may be...that is kinda hard although...there were many People.

We didn't get back into the park until around three and then got a quick ride on the twister in the front seat. Pete rode the log flume with a few friends but I sat out for that one. That is about when we decided that I was too sick to stick out the fun any longer. I was to the point I could barely walk. Pete was pretty warn himself from sitting up having a man to man with his son, I thought it was nerves, but I am sure he would tell you it was excitement. We will have pictures soon. The day went so fast that we never even got out our digital cam. I wish we would have. A friend of ours will be sending some photos soon and we will post them.

That was us standing in the back of the RRC crowd by the Carousel. It was me, Chris Gray, Jeff Pike and Andrea (Coasterwife) with Andy in the stroller.

Funny how that was the only time we saw the two of you.

I'm sorry we missed the ceremony. We were still on the road from Pittsburgh (daytrippin', ya know...)

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Awwww yeah i know how that ride from pitts can be thats where Im origionally from what part are you from?? Are you familiar with Monessen? Its about 30 miles south.

I will have to watch the tape and see if I can pick you out. Luckaly Petes Father was behind us video taping on his ride back to the pavillion.

Did you all have a good time with your ERT? I know the rev. found out too late and wanted to do it as well as the weddinf and he couldnt and was bummed! Do tell !!!

I said to Heather when we passed by the carousel that was you Coasterpunk. I seen you picture on here in those Thunderhead(I have to get to ride that this season) pictures. ;)

It was the greatest wedding that I could ever ask for. Everything just fell into place and worked out perfectly including the weather.

As Heather had said we didn't get back in the park until around 3pm. We took a stroll in the park. Rode Whirlwind, Twister, and I rode the log Flume. We didn't even get to ride the Haunted House. :( We'll get back there for PPP anyway. I have yet to do that event.

A lot of our guests had said to me that our wedding was better than any church wedding that they had been to, and thats how Heather and I fealt as well. Knoebels was the perfect park to have it at, and I couldn't have any more satisfied.

They have great people working there, and that park really deserves the credit that they get. Its a beautiful memory that will stay with us, and our guests the rest of our lives.

I just wished I had gotten in the park earlier to meet some of my fellow coasterbuzzers and enthusiests.

We will post pictures, and an actual trip report when we get it all together. Thanks for that link Coasterpunk. I ordered an 8X10, and 2 5X7's of both pictures. Since we didn't have our own professional photographer that comes in handy. I was hoping that we could find one of the first drop. There was also another newspaper that posted this story.

We did give all our guests their own disposable 35mm, but most of them still had a lot of pictures left to take on them. Thats the bad part of doing that. We'll be taking pictures for years to get those all developed.

Alot of our friends had their digital cameras, and once they send us the pictures I'll post them.
