4-24-04 Our Knoebels wedding!

Jeff maybe you could help. Should I post this as news? Or just here in the forum?

Our wedding is next Saturday on the Phoenix at Knoebels. It is their opening weekend, and the hours are noon - 6pm. It is also buy one get one free all day ride band day. 2 all day ride including coasters for $19. Quite the bargain.

I didn't want to post anything on here until we got everything worked out. Now its official!

Anyone coming out stop and say hi. Here is the news link.

Congratulations :)

I'll be there! Just so I don't have to dress up for the occasion! ;) Congrats!
I was heading to Knoebel's for opening day anyway, so I'll be there, riding my baby (or not) Phoenix!

We have told everyone that is attending to just dress casual. My fiance, my son, and me are the only ones dressing up. My son and I are changing clothes when its over, but my fiance said that she is going to wear her dress all day. We'll be easy to pick out of the crowd. Of course when you spend that kind of money for a dress you should wear it all day. ;)

We are having our reception at 12:30 catered by Knoebels. Italian sausage, Cheeseburgers, potato salad, baked beans, pasta salad, corn on the cob, all the other normal picnic food, and finished off with Ice cream. I am sure that the food will be delicious. We even have a local wedding cake designer to make us a cake that is the bride & groom on top of a lifthill of the phoenix.

It all fell together. Now I just hope that we have decent weather. If it like the weekend we are having this weekend I'll be really happy. Please nice weather!

Coasterpunk you can tell me all about Thunderhead. I really look forward to riding that. Talonjosh I'll see you on the Phoenix. What a great coaster.

You wouldn't believe how hard everything was to organize. We had tried a lot of parks, and the only 2 that would accomadate us on our request was Knoebels, and Kennywood. We didn't want to ask everyone attending to driver 3 hours to Pittsburgh. ;) Actually we were hoping Hershey would let us do it on Storm Runner, but that didn't work out.

I appreciate Dick Knoebels generosity. That is just one of the reasons that Knoebels is such a special park. They have a great staff there.

Oh yeah Rev Cliff Herring is from Allentown. They got that wrong in the news article. ;)

Congratulations for taking the plunge!

Just remember after that, everything's downhill, then uphill, then downhill again (not to mention a few wild twists and turns thrown in for good measure...)

What kind of geeks get married on a roller coaster? ;)

Kidding...Jeff and I took a ride on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's Giant Dipper after our beach front ceremony in 2001, and it was most certainly a great day to remember.

Just as a warning...you are going to hear "Marriage has it's 'ups & downs'" more times than you care to :)

We plan on being at Knoebel's on Saturday, so we'll see you there! Congrats!!

Andrea, Coaster wife of 3 years

Thats really cool. I read about this in the local home town paper, about 15 minutes away from the park. I'm a ride supervisor at the park, but I won't be working that day, but I can tell ya this :The Knoebels are nice people, and it dint suprise me they would let an event like this take place. Good luck to yas!

Congrats, Coasterfantom2! I won't be getting married on a coaster, but our date is exactly one week after yours.
Congratulations! What a great place to get married! Our friends got married there last year in the gazebo by the carousel. My fiance and I are hoping to do the same on Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce if it can be arranged.

We'll be at Knoebels all weekend. Hope to see you there!

Weather permitting (looking good so far, if a bit chilly), I'll be at Knoebel's on Saturday as well. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!

OK, so no one else put in the obligatory stupid wedding-coaster joke so I will...

It's all downhill from there!

Actually Jeff, Andrea [CoasterWife3] did.
As much as everyone always hoped to get rollbacks on Dragster last year... I hope you don't experience too many such failed launches in your marriage.

Hell yes!! Those dresses should be worn all day. In fact, I wish I had an occasion to wear mine. Housecleaning counts, right? ;) Besides, she will be the most beautiful this day, and perhaps at her thinnest weight so she should draw as much attention as possible.

Congrats. And post many pics. :)

I’m not so sure that Phoenix is an appropriate choice for a wedding. Perhaps you should wait till Hades is completed?
Thank you so much for your wishes!! I am excited as is Pete to see you all there please stop and say hello!

I am sure that this will be an event to remember and please be sure to meet my parents so they will come to the realization that Pete and I are not the only coaster nuts in the world. :0) There are plenty more of us !!!

I hope you do not mind coaster wife, but I had an interview on the phone with another news paper and they were asking about coaster weddings and I mentioned that you may be there and you commenced your marriage by a coaster ride as well.

Now about the ups and downs..he he he we have had plenty of those and more to come and that is one reason I think that getting married this way is such a good way to look back at this day and know that getting married this way is totally a reminder of that! ( or to remind us that we knew what we were getting into).

Congratulations Vater we wish you all the luck and good weather !!!!!

My question is if anyone can help what would be an origional song to have the wedding party enter with? We will be having a wireless microphone system . We have a great idea for our exit as husband and wife, but nothing as origional for the entrance any ideas??? Hurry Hurry!!!!

I know about the parents, Heather. As I mentioned above, my fiance and I are hoping to get married on a coaster(by Rev. Cliff as well). My mother especially says "that's not normal and that no one gets married on a coaster". I'll be sure to print your article to show her! :-)

Sue - Justin Adams [who used to post here as JACoasterman] got married on SFMW's Medusa about 3 years ago. I bet you can find an article about that if you search the Vallejo, CA newspapers.

And don't forget the wedding on Legend at SRM 2 years ago.

Yep...that was my friends Scott and Mary Heck that got married on the Legend.

They wont let me forget.
