Did I mention the thing about "lots of sold advertising?" :)

Jeff - it reminds me of when the magazine I work for used to have a special issue where we'd spotlight the Top 50 travel companies [in terms of revenue].

Anyone wanna guess how many of those we featured also bought ads in that apecial issue?

Same thing.

Of course it does ;)

I think that there are alot of Beemer Inverts that definately have better layouts

No. Really? Better? Couldn't be ;)

but for some reason Raptor I find very fast, even though its not that tall, it it never seems to lose speed

Well, yeah cuz after the cobra roll it don't DO nuffin except 'Raptor around' back to the station. Oh, on second thought, let's toss in a loop or two. Oh, yay.

Montu is less than perfect, but at least it goes down trying to entertain you. B:TR is all about business and Ice edges out Fire in my book because I'm very, very partial to cobra rolls. Heck, I'd even put SFEG's Mind Eraser pretty close to Raptor when you're sitting in the right seats.

Something to do when I'm on a coaster, please? Thanks kindly.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Just looked at that list again and im surprised Batwing didn't make the top 50. Why is that? I assume the Six Flags Superman Flyers got nothing else to offer after the pretzel loop. What's so special about S:UF in SF Georgia?

You won't see me coming...

It doesn't feel like it is about to fall off the track.
I am glad to see that my steel ride (magnum ) is still up there. Even after 15 years, that is one of my best steel coasters out there.

Choosing between Dragster and Superman SFNE is like choosing between orgasms and love.

Hmm, now you having me thinking Danny.....;-) I choose loving orgasms. Or is that orgasmic love?

Uh....

One train operation most of the time...

Slow staff...

There is suppose to be a third train that hasn't been seen this season...

Only one side of the two side station is ever used at one time....

It opens late, in fact there are times we are even lucky if it opens at all.

Inconsistent operation....

Fails to run at capacity.....

Did I miss anythng?

It's a nice design but there is something about this coaster that SFA just can't seem to get right. Look at it this way, none of the Vekoma Flying Dutchman made it into the top 50 including Batwing. Not even Borg with all of the extra themeing.

Well, I'm not really complaining much about it this year. Even though I haven't ridden S:ROS, I think MF deserves the #1 spot, it's great air, I don't care what people say... and as for TTD not even being in your top 50... can anyone else say that? Wow! I thought it was an insane ride, and far from "not thrilling or intimidating." It makes #1 on my list, just a hair past Millennium Force. I pretty much agree with the GT top 10 for the most part, AC was awesome, and so was Montu (just slightly better than Raptor) so yeah. I haven't ridden many wooden coasters, so I don't have much to say about that.

Cedar Point is without a doubt the best park, they got that right!

This is sorta a dumb question, but over in the gallery at Pointbuzz, theres a person that looks like, (from what I remember), the Mrs. Koch from holiday world. Were there representatives from different parks like Holiday world also who attended the event or just CP?
i haven't been able to see the whole list since I can't seem to get the .pdf file to download/open. I was wondering how Rampage ranked this year. Anyone?

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

Yes both Will Koch and Pat Koch were there. If I remember correctly Pat Koch has been to every Golden Ticket ceremony since they started doing public ceremonies.

Several other parks had representatives there: David Blazer-SFFT, Rick Knoebel, Jeffrey Siebert-PKI. There were three people from Michigan's Adventure, I think they expected ST to make number one woodie again. Schlitterbahn, Universal and Legoland all had someone there to receive awards.

There may have been a few others I'm missing.

It seems like a better idea to let the parks know a little in advance that certain rides and attractions won an award but in certain categories, why not let the staff that helped the park win the award, receive the award. Example the cast of SFFT Award Wining show, or the BGW Maintenace staff for keeping the park green and clean. The park staff is what makes the award happen. If your a hall of fame inductee, the individual receives the honor not the owner or coach of the team.

Rampage ended up at #13 with 279 points. I still need to make a day trip over to Visionland to experience this coaster.

The more I look at this poll the more it becomes a joke.

While I agree it's often a popularity contest, I like the poll. And it's way less a popularity contest then the poll taken here at Coasterbuzz.

MF over S:ROS? Please speak up if you've ridden both and not chosen SFNE's.

I'm speaking up. I've been to SFNE 3 times with a fourth coming up next week and Cedar Point 4 times with a visit just last week. I think MF iis better then SROS. You're opinion is hardly unaninmous and I don't think it has anything to do with SFNE's popularity. Every enthusiast knows about SROS.

The most beautiful carousel on the planet (Seabreeze) Doesn't even make it in the top five.

This is a very subjective issue. My personal favorites have been Lakesides and the B&B at Coney Island. They are both hella creepy and cool

The worlds best Kids area?? PCW blows PKI and PKD out of the water but isn't even in the top five.

I think you have to be hoping here that noone has actually BEEN to Carowinds. Carowinds, by almost any standard, is a total dump. Suggesting that ANYTHING at Carowinds is better then anything at either Kings Dominion or Kings Island is a complete joke. And yes, I've been to all three parks this season and I had no particular preconceptions about any of them before visiting.

Wait, unless you are referring to Paramount's Canda Wonderland, or whatever it's called. I've never been to that park, and admit I don't have all my Paramount acronyms down. So, if the Canada one is PCW, is Carowinds PC?

And look chuck, I made a whole post without using the "f bomb"! Hehe. *** Edited 8/31/2004 3:14:38 PM UTC by rdreaming***

Top Gun at PCar is better than anything at PKI or PKD, IMO.

Joe "PKI definitely deserves best kids area though" C.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Just my opinion, but I like SFNE's SROS a lot more than Millenium Force. 1st trip to Cedar Point was may, and just wasn't really impressed with MF. Ridden SROS lots and still loving it.

But with all of Cedar Pts top 10, I would rather see Wicked Twister up there! Is it just me cause I loved that one!!!

Top Gun IS the shizznit of inverts, and made MY ballot....I'll even take it over MY baby, Fire...(just don't tell him)...;)

rdreaming...PCW is in fact Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds is generally abbreviated PCar...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Wow. I really didn't get much out of Top Gun. I like Alpie much better and even Raptor. It actually only topped Great Bear. Maybe because it was my last US custom invert or because Clint had puked on me earlier that day ;) but I just didn't see what all the fuss was about. It just felt a little too small and trying to do a bit too much in too small a space. I know some people like that, but I don't (B:TR is probably my least favorite invert).
