Ah crap! You're right, Tekno! I forgot to pass out the Kool-Aid today. The weekend is ruined...

...Jeff is going to beat me.

Gator - I had to double check to make sure that wasn't a Moosh post :)

Jeez, Gonch!! You are so fired! I mean, were all starting to think for ourselves already. ITS THE END OF COASTERBUZZ!!!1!11!!1

I could go for some Kool Aid right now. Blue, maybe, but defnintly something green. I have this McDonalds after taste in my mouth, and water isn't working...

Jeff is going to come in monday morning and delete a bunch of accounts because of all of us not agreeing with him, since Millie has to be his favorite of the 2, but he is gonna rip you a new one, Gonch.

:)

I'd like to congratulate my home park, Dollywood, for it's recognitions in the Golden Tickets:

2nd Friendliest Employees

2nd Best Shows

6th Best Wooden Roller Coaster

Great Job! :)

because CP fanboys vote

Says the SFNE fanboy ...

I didn't get a ballot. None of the other fanboys I talked to yesterday got one either. Hmm ... maybe Cedar Point buys votes from other Cedar Fair fanboys ...

Stop stealing my quotes, Bill. ;-)

Choosing between Dragster and Superman SFNE is like choosing between orgasms and love.

Big difference between the two ROS's though, Tina. The SFDL & SFA ROS's (holy acronym Batman!) do indeed deserve to be ranked below MF...

Not on my ballot Gonch....at least not the SFA version...SFDL's went *unridden and unranked*....(but from what I hear I'd give it the nod for setting)...;)

MF had speed out the wazoo (what IS a wazoo anyway?), but just one good POP of ejector somewhere in there would've given MF a big boost...even PR beat out MF, but I don't believe any *pure* Arrows OR Morgans rated as highly...:)

edit: Same goes for Beemers, "family hypers" just ain't my gig, LOL...;)

MF has a pop of ejector on the small camelback by the station (just as good as 90% of S:RoS's airtime pops) and the most sustained flojector ever on the first drop (more intense than floater, not as intense as ejector)

And to whoever said MF is just speed and height, that is not entirely true. Best thing about MF to me is when you hit the brakes, and you are so full of adreniline. That feeling is what seperates MF from most rides I have ridden (and I have ridden plenty) Only other ride that has wow'd me like MF was S:RoS at SFNE. And on the first drop and small bunny hop, you get nice ejector/flojector. But as I stated in one of my posts before, it is all about your taste for roller coasters. *** Edited 8/28/2004 11:09:53 PM UTC by Huk90***

I had the honor of being invited to and attending the actual ceremony this past Friday.

Anyone who knows me KNOWS what a die hard CP and Raptor fan I am......no question...
BUT....
I do have to agree with the majority here that questioned some of the results.

Best Steel: My personal opinion? Nitro
MF is a great coaster, no questions but it is ALL speed and NO substance. Nitro has BOTH.
Where was Dominator (fka Batman Knight Flight?) I don't understand how Medusa could rank in the top 50 and not a peep about Dominator! :(

I adore Raptor (with the 2 Raptor tats, and almost 1k rides on it, I'd better! ;)) but worthy of #10? Fire, Ice and Talon are much better than Raptor! Not as intense mind you, but awesome rides none the less!!

As for CP winning for best amusement park in the world I would have to agree with that. I haven't been to a gazillion parks (I am not an enthusiast) but from the parks in which I have been to, I love CP the best.
It has everything a guest could want and/or need. Hands down. (With the exception of some good woodies of course!! ;))

+Danny,

That's inappropriate and not something that should be said on this website. You should be ashamed of yourself!

But I sure do like it. :)

I would like to see more rides *worth* escaping the rain and heat for at Cedar Point such as interactive Sally dark rides, motion theatres, and a *good* higher capacity indoor coaster. Also, some of the newer age flat rides and giant rides would be great additions to the park.

Wow, page three and still no Jeffery? I bet he is doing this just to show us he "dosen't take the bait"...

Oh well...(as I lie back, prop my feet up, and smile contentedly)

My work here is done for right now...

;)

My humble opinion on the matter-

I've never ridden S:ROS so I can't compare it to MF, but I do think MF is an amazing coaster. I also think Nitro deserved to be above AC; I've ridden both and IMO Nitro has a better drop, better airtime, and an overall more interesting, dynamic ride. I don't think Magnum should have gotten third, and I believe TTD deserved its #7 spot. Also, CP deserved best park.

Wait Wait...I'm confused. Did Raptor Joe just say that there are alot of rides better than Raptor? Wow. I never thought I'd hear the day. Well I think Raptor is the best inverted ever and I've been on Alpengiest, Montu, Raptor (obviously), Top Gun at PCaro, Fire and Ice @ IOA.

Raptor and Alpengiest are the 2 best. Besides the Raptor crew rocks.

Getting back to what you said, I think MF has substance. The entire MF experience rocks. From the station music, to the fast lift hill and being next to lake erie, to the first drop which is heavenly,

DAMMIT GOING FROM NEGATIVE G"S DROPPING 300 FEET TO GOING INTO A 4.5 G GIANT OVERBANKED TURN THAT MAKES YOU BLACK OUT IS THE MOST AMAZING THING ONE CAN EXPERIENCE ON A COASTER.

Magnum doesn't have substance. Magnum is the result of Arrow going to tall and fast and creating an uncomfortable ride with bad transitions, especially in the pretzel loop. The first half is awful, the drop isn't great, its not that steep, the first 2 hills are nothing short of painful, and the bunny hops are the rides saving grace.

SROS is Up Down Up Down, and the g forces aren't as good. It is an amazing ride, falling JUST short of MF, but MF has it all. The speeed, the airtime, the forces, and the bunny hop by the station is awesome.

If you put it in caps, it makes it true.

I've been on all the custom B&M inverts in the US and I would put Raptor somewhere near the middle. Not too bad, but certainly not in running for the top (Talon, Montu, Fire). *** Edited 8/30/2004 8:32:00 AM UTC by ApolloAndy***

Of course it does ;)

I think that there are alot of Beemer Inverts that definately have better layouts, but for some reason Raptor I find very fast, even though its not that tall, it it never seems to lose speed, and it flies through each element. To top it off the Mid course break is shut off meaning you fly through the last 2 corks and helix.

I've ridden Batman: The Ride, Montu, Raptor, Fire and Ice, and I would have to say Raptor is the best. Montu wasn't that good, I thought.

Jeff's got this right - it's a good way for AT to get ads from the parks, and the parks get a brilliant marketing tool by plugging they're various awards. It's really no different than a car company touting their "Motor Trend ___ of the year" or something like that.

As for the votiing, read a little more into the PDF. They say that the people polled were split into different regions in order to remove regional bias.

If Magnum...I mean Talon...excuse me RaptorJo is not an enthusiast, then I'm not either ;).

Seriously though, I think all the rankings are off. Personally, I'd have Raging Bull over all the aforementioned coasters, though my memories of Phantom's Revenge keep getting better and better. I think I'd even take the SFDL/A SROSes over Millie. After that, I think all the coasters tend to blend together, with notable standout performances from Kraken & Montu (despite our jaded RGW) and SKC. NITRO? Ehh...not at all bad but...ehh! (Lady T likes it though).

But hey, dont give any weight to my preferences, I liked Hercules....
