I do not want to get in an argument about this on coasterbuzz, but the Earth is 6-10 thousand years old

Uh oh. How can you honestly believe that? I'm not trolling (now), I really want to know how that is believable, when so many facts show otherwise.

I just don't get it. I hadn't heard of this young Earth thing until the last few years, either. It absolutely amazes me.

Raven, you see, go back and click on the link I gave when I said "Break Trims obviously hasn't been here." On the left bar, there will be many questions regarding evolutionary concepts. You will get your answers to why people believe that.

Evolutionary scientists don't look into the evidence in historical science from a stand point that they will accept what information that is given to them, but rather they look at the info from a pre-chosen belief that there is no God. If God doesn't exist, which He does, evolution is the best chance. Look back at that link, and you can do some reading. Only do it if you have an open mind, though. I don't want to argue about this on coasterbuzz.

Worms! Worms everywhere!

Also, "It's on the internet, so it must be true."

Also, science comes from the standpoint that things happen predictably whether or not there is a God. Many evoluationary scientists are Christians and many Christians believe in evolution (myself included). There is no contradiction unless you're intent to read the bible literally (in which case, I have a whole bunch of people we need to stone including those who ate pork or shellfish).

Apollo, there's also books also and speakers and movies and a museum. I'm not going to go to deeply about this because this is coasterbuzz.

Yeah, Andy has no idea what he is talking about. None.

It's not like he's a pastor or anything...

Yeah. And definitely not a pastor with 2 degrees from MIT (since we were comparing credentials in the other thread). Now I'm genuinely curious about what you meant by "liberal" in the other thread since I'm pretty sure I'm somewhere between heresy and blasphemy.

I'm not trying to offend anybody, and I don't want to argue about this. Apollo, I'm not accusing you of being a bad pastor or anything. It's not my job to make that accusation.

The earth is not 6000 years old. You are about six zeroes off.

I don't especially want to have this conversation either, but this "fact" about evoluationary scientists is patently false and it offended me. You may not be calling anyone a bad pastor, but you were calling evolutionary scientists bad Christians (and incidentally, bad scientists).

Nah man, you opened the can, now you gotta clean up the worms.

Don't back down/hide from your beliefs when you're asked about them. It's very immature.

Have you seen how many people have tattoos, and wear garments of mixed fabrics?

Seriously, the FACT that the Bible, taken literally, is off by a factor of a million bothers me not in the least. I figure God can make "a day" last pretty much however long "He" (or She) wants...what's the point of being all-powerful if you're not going to use it?

The fact is that I wasn't trying to offend anyone, and I was just stating what I know is true. I'm not going to try to argue with you because:

a. I have math homework to do

b. I don't want to offend you or make you feel like I'm putting down God's chosen leader of your church

c. This is coasterbuzz and we're getting off topic

d. It is not a salvation issues

From the link you posted:

Yet the RATE scientists discovered significant detectable levels of radiocarbon in these diamonds, dating them at around 55,000 years—a far cry from the evolutionary billions!

So they found diamonds that are around 55,000 years old. How then is the earth only 6000 years old? You may know it to be true, but my friend, you are simply wrong.

Also, you basically said that scientists start from the assumption that there is no God, and yet the bottom page of that same link has this:

God’s infallible Word must be our ultimate authority, not the unstable foundation of human reasoning. Are we trying to fit our interpretations of the world (e.g., evolution) into Scripture, or will we simply let God speak for Himself through His Word?

Aren't you making the opposite assumption about God's existence that you're claiming scientists make?

Tyler, remember your fundamentalist brainwa......uhhhh.....training: When people state something scientific about the origin of the earth, ask them if they were there! It's that simple!

Bake, if you have read other material, you realize that the rate of decay may have been faster at earlier dates.

And I said I didn't want to continue this argument.

Break Trims, I honestly think the teacher who made that fourth grade test should be fired. They didn't go into the scientific evidence behind creation, and they just told the kids stuff. That material should've been kindergarden science class.

No! No one should be taught false information at any age....not even in Kindergarten.

Also, the argument/discussion may continue with or without your approval. The webmaster (and his henchmen) are the only ones who get to decide when a discussion is over.

Tyler, it's clear that no one here can change your mind, so the last thing I'll say is that it is dangerous for you to harbor these beliefs, because they do not conform to reality. Delusion is not a healthy mental condition, even if it is spiritually related.

I'm not trying to mock you; this is genuinely how I feel.

Take care.
