At the demon when we are reminding guests to secure loose articles on the platform area, I sometimes say "including false teeth, wigs, prosthetic attachments etc" the guests think your trying to be funny, but these are things that we have lost in the past and I and other ops have taken hours searching through the gardens under the coaster for then, and guests get upset with us when we can't find there expensive false teeth. So we are serious!

On Viper @ SFoG, it was one of the last rides of the night before the park closed. We all got loaded in the train, they checked the lapbar, etc. The horn went off, signaling we were supposed to be launched, but our ride op said, " Aww, geez, ya know what? I'm not going to send out this train until everyone has their arms up!" So we all put our arms up, then our ride op said,
"That's better!" And sent us out. I think he really enjoyed his job, and that is the kind of thing that makes a great coaster ride even better!

Recently when I was at IOA it was absolutely deserted. No waits for anything! By the end of the day the ride ops were all getting very tired and lost interest in what they were doing. So we got in line for the Hulk. You could tell the ride op was bored and wanted to have some fun so when we left the station knowing everything to expect but right before the launch the op came over the intercom as bruce banner's voice was drained out and said "You are the weakest link! Good-bye!" We all started laughing and it last the entire ride.

In many of the posts I have read, they have been talking about ride ops cussing. Are they able to do that? Couldn't they get in trouble for cussing?

Mantis@CP last summer had a really enternaining ride op that was from England or Australia (or some other place with an accent like that, I couldn't quite place it). Every time a train would come into the station, he'd say "Pay absolutely no attention to that big blue thing right across the walkway, there, 'cause you really don't want to go on that anyway. I'll tell you this: This ride will take you to heights at and above 12 feet at speeds reaching and exceeding 3 miles per hour. And look, on this thing, you can see the water that you go over..." Also, another highlight of that visit was on the same ride, the group of four in front of us had a guy wearing a giant sombrero and huge neon-pink sunglasses. I don't remember what the ride op said, but I do remember his heckling being quite entertaining.

This is a true story!!! At Kings Island back when I was about 12 or 13 years old, my best friend and I were about to take our first flight on The Bat. We were already a little freaked out about riding our first suspened coaster, when a maintenance/technician worker came up and stood right beside us. He had a wrench and screwdriver in his hand, and proceeded to adjust something around the shocks above us. He looked down at us after a moment, and said "This should keep you guys from flying off the track". He was joking of course, but I will never forget the sheer terror I felt when he said that. And no, we didn't fly off the track.

Just yesterday at SFWoA we heard the ride ops on Serial Thriller. They said "oh good , we finally found that missing nut, good thing the seat belt didn't come off", and then the ride was closed for like an hour.

I love on BKF how when the announcement comes on, "we hope you enjoyed your ride" and then in the same breath it says "welcome to the Batman Knight Flight" If you know what I mean, it sounds pretty funny.

On X-flight, I saw the lady do this to two other people. They put their hands down protecting themselves from a smashed pelvis, and she says "move 'em now!!" and you move your hands, and she smashed down the harnass as hard as she can.
