Does Talon lack anything

Amen Jeff! I'm really sick of people thinking the know it all when they haven't even ridden the coaster. Whenever I go to an amusement park, I keep an open mind--whatever the owner of the park is.

Raven_Rider, how can you say that you've formed an opinion of the ride when you haven't even ridden it yet? How can you stereotype all B&M's when you've only ridden 6 different ones. (3 B:TR's)

My Inverted rankings are as follows:

1. Montu, Busch Gardens Tampa
2. Fire Dragon, Islands of Adventure
3. Batman the Ride, Six Flags Great Adventure
4. Batman the Ride, Six Flags over Georgia
5. Batman the Ride, Six Flags St. Louis
6. Talon, Dorney Park
7. Ice Dragon, Islands of Adventure
8. Great Bear, Hersheypark
9. Alpengeist, Busch Gardens Williamsburg
10. Raptor, Cedar Point

* I rank the Vekoma Invertigo's below the Batmen
and above Talon, so Two Face at Six Flags America
and Face Off at PKI both place above Talon and the rest of the B&M Inverts for me.

My inverted tastes: I like intensity, originality, and a bit of airtime in my inverts. But it *has* to be intense, everything else is just icing on the cake.

I'd love to ride an Intamin Inverted, now *there's* something to get excited over!

How can I form an opinion? Talon is going to be forceless. I just did. And I'm not a "coaster snob," I just know what I like. And yes CPgenius, that's right, 6 B&M's, and 3 intensity-filled B:TR's. How many B&M's have you ridden? 2...and they're both at CP of course. And how many truly intense B&M's have you ridden? None. And you haven't ridden Talon either, so why do you care if I form an opinion? By the way, I used to be totally open-minded before entering a park, but I've grown to know what my tastes are, so I *usually* can tell what a ride will deliver...there have been a few exceptions of course though. But look, I know that I haven't ridden it yet, but I trust my friends who have ridden it...we haven't disagreed on a coaster yet. Now feel free to flame away.

TALON IS NOT FORCELESS!!! Every time I ride it I almost blackout, where ever I sit. It is a very Intense ride. And Raven_Rider, I think you should actually ride it before you say it is "forceless", because it is not even close to being forceless. Don't always go by what your friends say. Talon is the best and most intense invert I have been. I've been on Alpie, Montu, GB, Batman @ SFMM & SFGAdv.

Cant comment on Talon, but some of the newer B&Ms *are* forceless, when compared to there older models. Fire Dragon is loaded with intensity but Raging Bull, Kraken and Ice Dragon are all pretty weak. Not that they arent fun (RB is my favorite steel and Kraken my favorite sitdown looper) but you cant really say they are as intense as say Magnum, X-flight, and Batman: The Ride. It simply isnt true.

Oh and robcoasting, remember the comment you made about 'negativity' @ the Batwing media day? You were so right as I saw more and more of it as the day went on.

RagingBullGuy, from what I've heard, all three of those rides ARE forceless, in the positive g department. They have air, but I've heard some people even say that they're *too* smooth, preventing you from feeling forces. 2hostyl is a die-hard B:TR fan, so he can back me up.;)

I've been on BTR, Montu, Raptor, Alpie, and the Dueling Dragons and I've yet to find one that I wouldn't want to spend every waking hour to ride. Yeah, some were a little more "forceless" than others, but the fun factor on each can't be beat. Force, intensity, airtime, whatever mumbo jumbo doesn't matter to me as long as I'm having fun. And isn't that what it's all about? If not, you guys lost me a long time ago. Has there been any
B&Ms I felt to be boring and not worth the ride? Heck, yeah! Will I ever ride them again? Heck, yeah again! Will they be as important in my must-ride list next time? Absolutely not! But it's better than nothing. You can argue about the subject if you want. It's fine with me. But about this coaster in particular, you shouldn't judge a coaster before you ride it. Case in point: I went to CP for the first time a while back and Mantis was #3 on my list to ride and ended up being about 3rd to the bottom in excitement of the rides I rode. We almost skipped Thunder Run at SFKK because we thought that it couldn't have possibly been any better than Twisted Sisters, but I wanted to ride for the count and was surprised that it became my favorite ride at the park. Again, if you want to argue about a coaster you haven't ridden, hey, whatever floats your boat. I want to ride it. Why? Because it's a coaster and it's colorful and looks fun. Why not if I get a chance.

Raven_Rider, I'm just saying you should be open to different ride experiences and not to always take other people's words for it.

But don't go attacking my credibility of asking you how you form an opinion because of my pathetic track record. You're very fortunate to have as big of a track record as you do. I'm 16 and have just half the rides you do. I can only dream about riding as many coasters as you, but it's just not possible for me right now.

Why do I care that you make an opinion of a ride you haven't been on?

If someone that is looking for opinions about the ride doesn't know you haven't ridden it and believes you, it may change their minds about going to that park. It may not make much of a difference to you, but in the nearly 2 years I've been to this site, I get sick of people spreading their false beliefs upon others that have no idea of what they are talking about.

I think "coaster snobbery" comes in when you tell other people which coasters are and aren't intense. To a particular person, a ride such as Mantis, may be the most intense ride ever. But to another like you, who has been somewhat desensitized by other B&M's, it may be less intense.

"Coaster Snobbery" is basically going to a park, riding coasters, and just picking the negatives out of the park and its coasters. All of us so called coaster enthusiasts need to take a step back, put ourselves in GP shoes(Pick your brand, Nike, Reebok, etc.) and realize what they enjoy for a funfilled exciting day. We sit here and bash the slightest thing in a coaster. If you want to set an example and promote great coaster riding, you will find the positives in a park and its coasters. After that you will make those positives stand out. I know we have our favorites and least favorites but like this site has promoted for quite awhile that "best/worst/favorite/prettiest/ugliest" just doesnt cut the mustard anymore so we need to realize that opinions are just that, "OPINIONS"!!

That isn't "snobbery." That is stating an opinion, which i thought this forum was for.

I guess I didn't state it how I wanted to.

But he wasn't just passively stating that he thought the new B&M's were forceless, he was telling them--Like their opinions didn't matter.

Are we talking about the same ride here? I thought Great Bear was great, but Talon was much better. How many inverts do you know of that give you airtime. Talon may not have as many inversions as the others, but all four are intense as are the helices.

I have always thought that the purpose of inverted coaster was to give a flying sensation (of the jet fighter type), not to give you a view of your surroundings. I think flying through the Talon structure, fearing that I will lose an arm or a leg, is quite exhilarating.

This is just my opinion, I do not expect everyone to love Talon as much as I did, but calling it boring is a bit of an overstatement.

I'm sorry but that is what I thought of the ride, I found it very boring, although I could be a bit biased cause I really dislike dorney park and the whole cedar fair corporation. I get more of a thrill on the great bear thinking I'm going to lose my legs on the wave swinger that's moving underneath me, soaring over water, barely missing the 'looper', flying over midways those are my kind of thrills. But you have the right to your opion I cant expect everyone to dislike the talon as much as I do.

I think it's time to put this one to rest.

People have different opinions about the ride, what "coaster snobbery" is, and about amusement park corporations. That's the way it is.

ice411girl has the idea. We'll have to try to live with and respect each other's opinions, I suppose.
