Magic Mountain toutes 3 new coasters for the upcoming season...AGAIN. Just 10 years later.

Superman: Escape from Krypton will operate with vehicles in reverse on BOTH tracks the first few months after its reopening, then one side will return to operating forwards, allowing guests the opportunity to choose one of two different ride experiences on Superman.

At least we'll know Superman will now "race" or operate both tracks simultaneously, now that each track offers a different experience..

Not necessarily. As a counter-example, just because KI's Racer sported front and rear-facing trains for years didn't mean that Paramount or (briefly) Cedar Fair always ran both sides.

Allow me to rephrase,

At least we'll know Superman will now "race" or operate both tracks simultaneously for the first year because of it being marketed as a new attraction in addition, now that each track offers a different experience, there is an incentive to operate both tracks.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but really? OTSR's now? In my opinion, lap bars forward is a better experience than OTSR's backward.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

...insert "So you've all ready ridden Superman backwards and can provide a comparison?" comment here...

Are OTSRs really an issue if there are no laterals?

Yes, just for general movement's sake. I'm 6'4" and the tops of my shoulders are consistently being pressed upon by the average restraint even when standing still.

Here's a puzzler that came to my twisted little mind last night - how do you count inversions on a coaster that features an unpredictable ride experience? The "most inverted park on the Planet" would certainly want to claim a few more upside-downs in their arsenal, right? Figured, why not "ask the expert", so I consulted the Oracle, er, rcdb. Turns out Duane has no entry (yet) for Green Lantern.

So what's an uber- geek to do? Well, figured I'd check out Insane - Duane has that one listed as zero....so I guess rcdb only counts "guaranteed" inversions...LOL!

Clearly I need a hobby... ;)

Maybe the inversions counted are only those that the track itself completes?

^Yeah, that's kind of what I was going after with "guaranteed" inversions.

Footnote: Duane app. knew I was doing this - rcdb now lists Green Lantern. He is super-fast... :)

Actually, Bill, since it was just officially announced, that's probably why Duane added it ;).

Magic Mountain's PR department requested Duane refrain from posting Green Lantern to RCDB until after the park made its official announcement.

Nope, kRaXLe, Duane requested that Magic Mountain refrain from making their official announcement until he could get it posted. :p

Lol.

Nevermind the fact that the promotional video was leaked before the announcement for all 3 coasters.

But thank god Duane refrained. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

The reason I thought Duane's timing was "weird", so to speak, is that Mr. Six's Dance Coaster was rcdb-listed for opening in '11 ever since they cancelled the 2010 opening. I can see that Greeen Lantern is a completely different deal, but it followed the same announcement difficulty (i.e., *everyone* knows before it's announced).

Come on, Gator. I didn't even mention Flashpass.

...Does anyone know what kind of wait times the new Kennywood launch coaster has had this year, by the way?

It was about an hour when I was there. It was a big let down, but Cedar Point kinda ruins you for parks like Kennywood.

^Actually the first half of Sky Rocket is pretty good. I think if they didn't completely stop the train at the mcbr, the second half wouldn't be half bad either.
