Even though we can't see what you did, I have a feeling I know what you did. And, it's still funny. :)

I will remember the "link" link info for the future. I usually just click the "link" and then copy the URL. Didn't realize the pre and post URLs were different.

Oh wow, I never realized that they were different either. I guess my instinct would be to just right-click and copy the "link" link, but I know I haven't always. Interesting.

That's some pretty good powers of deduction you have there, Jason. :)

Well now their facebook page is at it again. The first hint was just dropped and apparently the official announcement will be made on the 24th.

In west michigan we have 90 foot " starflyer" coming to a fair here in the area. Its actually one of the headliners of the fair. Go figure the radio ad goes Come see the midway from 90 feet in the air in a swing, then listen to Shinedown and pet the animals. I think it would be more fun to make fun of the carnies.

I also wonder if anyone at Cedar Fair pays attention to what the general public says, because if you look at the facebook page for Knott's when they ask what ride they should build, most of the people there are asking for the return of dark rides like Dinosaur thing or Bearytales they use to have. Some even bashing the steel coasters saying it robbing Knott's of its apeal.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Stupid reporter. Couldn't he let Cedar Point make an announcement first? Well, the "secret" was pretty well known by a lot of us, anyways.

I saw the Wind Seeker version online a few days ago. It answered my top concern for the new ride, the wind problem. It's such a simple fix, it's ingenious.

If Funtime wanted Cedar Points business, maybe they should have come up with the clever idea of arms instead of chains. They may have a case, nonetheless.

According to the article, they are going after Cedar Point in litigation. Crazy.

On the other hand, I suspect this all could be staged to keep up interest in the new ride. Just think, there is a chance we may not get to ride the new ride at Cedar Point next year. Commence the panic.

Well, it's possible.

How is the reporter stupid? Because he didn't sit on a bona fide news story? That wold be stupid, and remarkably unprofessional. This is a rare +1 for the Register.

Sounds like Funtimes got upset they didn't get the contract, and as a revenge tactic they spilled Cedar Point's beans 5 days early. I bet there will be NO lawsuit, the lawsuit part of the story is what makes it a credible 'breaking news' article.

Sour grapes indeed. My only question now is will the Wind Seeker be 400 ft tall? With steel arms and what looks to be a much more structurally sound ride altogether, I would love to see them go even higher.

If life is a rollercoaster, than can't we conclude that rollercoasters are life?

The reporter is "stupid", in my casual phrasing, because he ruined Cedar Point's announcement. While I'll agree that the secret was not well kept, I'm sure that their were a lot of non-enthusiast types who didn't know what the new ride was going to be, and therefor may have been excited to read the clues and hear the announcement.

A campaign like this is to build up excitement, but is very fragile, and can fall apart if the announcement is ruined. I suspect it could even have an effect on how well the new ride is received.

The reporter could have creatively wrote the story without giving the details of what the new ride was going to be, or he could have held the story until after the announcement altogether. The way he blirted out Cedar Point's secret for the world to hear was very unprofessional, in my opinion.

Yeah, what this world needs is the media doing a better job keeping corporations' secrets.

...Keep it secret for a week, allowing their marketing campaign to create interest for next year's new attraction, so that people will be excited about it and spend money visiting the park? Yes.

On the other hand, this story has created a lot of buzz anyways. It wouldn't be hard to imagine that if the outcome is positive for Cedar Point, and nothing goes wrong as far as installing the new ride is concerned, this news story will have done the park a lot of good.

Which is why I still feel funny that this could all be a farce, just to create some hype.

EDIT - for clarity I added "...Keep it secret".

I think the iPhone 4 shows that if you have a good enough product, doesn't matter if it gets leaked or not, millions of people will still pay for it.

It's bound to happen with many company's current tactics of putting out a press release saying there's going to be an announcement made next week. Given many people's tendency to blab, and some media outlets determined to dig to be the first to report something, by the time the official announcement date rolls around, it's already old news.

That's why, as much as Brett Favre is totally annoying with his "I'm going to play, no I'm going to retire, no wait" routine, it's so funny to see all the reporters running after him. He's using them big time, and they seem to be too full of themselves to realize it.

What planet do you live on that reporters shouldn't write about newsworthy stuff? Are you going to start watching Fox News, too?
