Let the speculation begin.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Only at Cedar Point can spray paint attract photographs before the current attraction has even opened.

Not our fault the 2011 attraction is ahead of 2010's. :)

The same goes for Knoebels. There's more going on now with next year's coaster than the Flying Turns.

Based on the distance from the markers looks like some ground work/planning.Probably paving the midway, big deal.

For some of us, it is a "big deal". Any time any place receives a beautification, do to speak, is really exciting. The mall closest to my house was recently renovated, and while it's still the same place, it changed the atmosphere in such a positive way.

I smell a GCI on the "Boardwalk"! :)

That spot would seem to have nothing to do with the Demon Drop location, unless, of course, it is something epic. I'm still guessing the vacated spot by DD, but, really, who knows...

Personally, I think Cedar Point ought to send a crew around every couple of weeks to randomly mark some utilities around the park just to drive the fans absolutely bonkers. :)

That's a funny idea. It would work like a charm too. Next week the could stick up a ton of survey markers between Gemini and Mean Streak.

Now that I think about it, I doubt it's simply repaving. I don't see too much need for marking utilities if all your doing is repaving. For a repaving project, everything you need to know about the utilities is visible. (vault/sewer lids and valve box covers) Especially utilities that are several feet underground. The 2 things marked in the photos are sewer and water. I'm not sure how shallow sewer pipe can be buried. But, Water pipe typically has at least 5 foot of cover in Northern Ohio.

The water table is awfully high on the peninsula. Piping -- water, sewer, or otherwise -- might not be anywhere near that deep.

Just because you have a high water table doesn't mean water piping doesn't have to be buried deep. The ground freezes in the winter and the frost line isn't going to be higher just because the water table is higher.

Guess I didn't think about the frost line. You're right.

That is "ocean motion", not wave swinger. :)

Allthough it does swing next to the waves....

Repaving may not require that kind of detail if you're just doing concrete.

If you're doing pavers, on the other hand, the prep work may be a little deeper. Also remember that Cedar Point tends to build their midways to handily withstand extremely heavy truck traffic...and that they didn't used to do it that way. So re-doing a midway might require some notable excavation to put down the kind of base that they want.

An even more likely possibility: They have done a lot of work recently to try and fix some of the lakes that form on the midway during heavy rain. That means tie-ins to *sewer* lines.
