Wow, what a shocker. ::roles eyes::

I like this quote,

We want to make sure everyone in Greater Cincinnati understands who Snoopy is.

You know, the people that already know who Spongebob is. :)

Exactly, 99er. :)

At least the park management understands what they're up against with the switch.

Well, it still looks cool. Rotting or not.

I still think they should have a Red Cross Auction to light the first match!

What a bad article. Short, full of random facts and quotes, and really only talks about SOB for like 2 sentences.

Yeah, the article is not about SoB, it's about the opening of the park under Apollo. Lame article, I agree. And of course, predictible.

Here's another great one...

The coaster was considered the largest, tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world.

"Considered" the tallest and fastest wooden? Either it is the tallest and fastest, or it isn't. There is no consideration involved.

Pass da' sizzrup, bro!

I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news since I am heading to KI for the first time this memorial day weekend.

Andy - you don't need to visit KI to ride SOB. When you see me at Holiwood Nights I'll just kick you in the butt and ribs a few hundred times...it's basically the same experience : )

Why is it that any time an article doesn't cover what you want it's bad? I'd love to put some of you through a freshman journalism class.

Probably because of the headline. Most assumed it was all about SoB is my guess. That is what I thought when I read it but I wasn't going to say that it was a bad article. I found the part about Snoopy interesting. Oh well, can't please everyone, and by everyone I mean coaster enthusiasts. :)

I might be able to work that into the ride experience, lol.

I admit I have never taken a course in journalism. I was basing my comments on the title of the article compared to its actual contents. Of course, if the goal is to use a headline that will grab the most readers' attention, then I guess it was a successful article.

Like Andy would get ANY enjoyment out of SoB.

I'm really curious to see what they do with the ride. If it ever re-opens I think they are going to make some pretty substantial changes to it, like something akin to making Texas Giant a steel coaster.

If the superstructure itself has been confirmed from day one to be insufficient, then id say flatten it even if that means no replacement. When I was there this summer I didn't feel as if I was missing out at all. Even without SoB, the coaster lineup at KI is above average if not elite.

There are plans to reopen SOB during the 2010 season.

They could always go with a renovation like the texas giant, and reinstall the loop. ;) That was the best part of the ride anyway.
